We had my Aunts 80th birthday party, small family reunion there. The house is laid out where you have several nice gathering areas. There are 3 bedrooms and 2 baths on the first floor and 3 bedrooms and 1 bath upstairs. All were large and everyone thought the unique beds were great. The kitchen was spacious and very nice. We never ran out of hot water which was nice. The river running under it is loud and beautiful. There are several steps to go upstairs to the other bedrooms, but we had 3 people who could go up stairs, so no real problems there. The yard was freshly mowed and trimmed and has a nice gazebo swing that was a nice gathering place for outside. The kids that came for the Birthday ran everywhere and got into the river. The bridge was very nice and kids and adults like walking on it and crossing over to a cool shaded area and going down to the river. A lot of nice old rock work around the house and a huge waterwheel. We had to explain the waterwheel to anyone under 30. The directions from the Owners were spot on and no one got lost which was a concern of mine. Just follow the owners directions. Cell phones mostly did not work, but in parts of the house did for a few moments. Parts of the yard you had reception, but you are between mountains and no one really had an issue. If you wanted to find a spot you could. The cabin phone works of course so if anyone needs you they can call. Wi-Fi worked very well and was used on the porch overlooking the stream and all over the house. A few of the people that dropped by live in Ellijay or owned cabins there and they had never been to that part and were impressed with the location and house. Beautiful area. We brought all our food, but discovered a very nice modern Ingles that had everything we would have needed. Next time we will just go there and save all the shopping before hand. Very nice outside grill with plenty of propane tanks. This being our first time to rent a home we did have one problem thinking it was like a hotel. Only 2 people brought soap to bath with so there was a panic attack when it came time for showers as there was no soap. We went to Ingles the next day and bought some so take soap, shampoo, conditioner etc... They had hair dryers. My sisters said to say the house was extremely clean and who ever is cleaning the house does a great job. It is a great home for relaxing and reunions. Several people said they would like to go back and would rent it. We all wished we owned it!Recommended for: People with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

WE RENTED THIS HOME FOR A WEEKEND AWAY AND MY ROOM WAS INFESTED WITH LADY BUGS... THERE ARE GENERALLY LADY BUGS THROUGH OUT THE HOUSE BUT IN THE UPSTAIRS KING BED ROOM THERE WAS HUNDREDS OF BUGS FLYING IN THE WINDOW AND AROUND THE LIGHT...THEY EVEN GOT IN THE BED WE SLEPT IN AND MY HUSBAND AND I DID NOT SLEEP AT ALL... WE HAD TO GO DOWN THE CONJOINING ROOM IN THE MASTER BEDROOM ... WE WENT OUT AND PURCHASED BUG SPRAY AND THAT STILL DID NOT GET RID OF THE BUGS. THE OWNERS NEED TO DO A BETTER JOB. VERY UNSATISFIED.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children.
Owner response: I am sorry that there were ladybugs in the king bedroom upstairs. There are certain times of the year where we see more ladybugs, and I've never had any major problems with them getting into the house but we do see them outside. I’ve talked to several of our neighbors and they experienced the same issue. I am sorry about that but things like that happen in the mountains. I'm not sure why they were able to get into the bedroom during your weekend trip. I will say that I am very disappointed in how you treated my home. First of all, your rental agreement stated there would be 4 adults. But every bed was used, and since my home sleeps at least 14 people, you had at least 10 more guests than you stated. Apparently you had a party as well, which I would not have minded at all, but you left balloons taped all over the walls, garbage was left, and the house was a disaster. It took my housekeeper two trips to get the house clean. Normally I would charge you for the extra cleaning fee, but I did not. My husband and I take pride in this home and take care of it. And we want our renters to have a great experience. But in turn, we also want our guests to treat it like it was their own home. You showed that you were not capable of that. Again, I apologize for the ladybugs, but obviously that is something that happened which was completely out of my control.

We absolutely loved this home. It was the most beautiful, peaceful place I have ever been too. I have rented many homes to vacation in and this is my all time favorite. It does not get any better. We are planning to come back for a week this summer to play in the river. I live in Powder Springs GA and this place has convinced me to sell off my place and move to the mountains!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

My family and I had the pleasure of staying in this beautiful home. The cabin is in the most serene setting. It was spotless and the pictures do not do it justice The owners are incredible to deal with. We wish we could just move there! The cabin has everything you will need, the attention to detail is perfect. We loved just sitting on the patio over the creek and relaxing. We had room to spare and had a lot of fun sitting in the big family room playing cards and just being together. Thank you, Brittany and Mike for a very memorable vacation. We loved the train ride to McCaysville. We will be back!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Very seldom do we go on more than a couple of days vacation. My family of three, together with a few close friends, stayed here for my birthday. The place is amazing. Sleeping to the sound of running water and soaking in the beauty of the landscape were truly priceless. I highly recommend this place. This place is amazing! We will certainly come back:)Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our parents were thrilled with our choice for their 50th anniversary trip with the family Oct 2011. The home was perfect for all ages. There were so many places for everyone to relax and enjoy their time. We found ourselves not wanting to go anywhere!! Strolling along paths and taking so many pictures with the family along the river rocks and landscape areas. The home is very well maintained. Enjoyed the Apple Festival in Ellijay!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We had a glorious 6 days & 5 nights at "A River Runs Through It" and I can only say that the pictures don't do it justice! Our family of 14 had plenty of room and LOTS to do. I did not hear the words "I'm Bored" one time during the trip. We especially loved the "river". It was cool and refreshing and just deep enough for the older children to enjoy and shallow enough so that the young ones could also participate. The BEST thing was the nightly display by the fireflys!! Bring your butterfly nets! we enjoyce catching and releasing the bugs every night. We WILL be BACK!!Did you find this review helpful? We arrived for our annual Thanksgiving get together with children and Grand children to a wonderful greeting of coming home. Lights were on, TV on with a football game in progress! The house was warm and inviting, you almost expected to smell supper cooking. The atmosphere presented was one of pure pleasure to come for the following week! You can hear the creek singing in the night ... I hope we can go there once again!!! Grandma and P-PawDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 8/9

About the owner: My husband and I are both realtors and we live in the suburbs of Atlanta. We have 2 kids in elementary school.
Why the Owner Chose Ellijay:
We chose to buy in Ellijay because of how close it is to Atlanta and our home. We wanted a vacation home in the mountains to be able to escape to have a peaceful, relaxing weekend. This house captured us from the moment we first saw it. My husband spent over 3 months living here as he remodeled it.
The Unique Benefits at this Lodge:
Sometimes we visit with just ourselves...the kids will play in the creek all day as my husband and I sit under the shade of the pine trees in the front yard. We like to invite family and friends, and the home is so big we never feel cramped or crowded. Most of our guests are families/friends with children and many of them bring grandparents. Our home is very suitable for those who can't walk up or down stairs. All the living spaces are on the main level and there is only one small step down as you walk in the front door. Plus, there is a bed/bath on the main perfect for this type of guest. We just think the home is so unique and special with the water flowing underneath! It's a different experience, and we are glad to share it with our guests!
