As a new californian family we had our family coming over from Denmark and wanted to take them our in the mountains for a weekend. This house was perfect size to fit us all 6 + 1 baby with plenty of space. Our 9 months old child enjoyed the living room as a perfect play area and the house was very child friendly. It is convenient located (off the beaten path, but close to) kings canyon national park, which made daytrips to the canyon and sequoia national park easy. The nights were spend BBQing under the starry sky with picture perfect sunset and night view. The kitchen has everything you need for BBQ and dinner. In the morning/daytime there are many rabbits, honnybirds, turkey vultures, harriers on the premises, but no bears or snakes. I would go back to this plays if we are going back to kings canyon.

I will start this review with the 2 points I was not impressed with. First for anyone staying on the 4th of July, the fireworks you can see from the house are VERY far away. You can kind of make out the twinkling of them. If you have kids they will be disappointed. Second, during our stay we battled black ants in the kitchen. Had to be very diligent that every crumb was wiped up. Could not even leave a knife with the slightest smear of mayo in the sink or you would come home to a full ant invasion, and we are not the type to leave a big mess or dirty dishes in the sink. But it just took one missed spot and the ants were everywhere. Same with dog food in our dogs dish, one kibble left and they would attack the dish within an hour.We are a family of 5 and did all our cooking at the house, for my vacation it was frustrating battling the ants the whole time. Elaine was made aware of the ant situation and I took her advice for dealing with them, but it was still a constant battle. Thankfully they have not made their way to the pantry. If there was not an ant issue I would have given 5 stars. The house is kept in very clean condition, kitchen is well stocked with all you need to prepare your food, beds are very firm and not very comfortable. Plenty of linens, towels and extras throughout the house. The property is wonderful!! Plenty of area for kids and dog to play outside. House is at the bottom of a hill that is wonderful for exercise to work off those smores!! Great location for visiting Kings Canyon/Sequoia. PLENTY of hot water, even after 3 kids take baths/shower and running the dishwasher. Very fast refund of security deposit. If the ant situation was brought under control we would absolutely stay again. The home os a great combination of the convenience of a house but can take advantage of the fun of camping with outdoor exploring, bbq and eating outside. Elaine and Kimon live on the property next door and as another reviewer pointed out, Elaine was available for any help/questions, but not intrusive at all.

Starry Oaks is a perfect vacation destination. Elaine and Kimon are wonderful hosts, attentive but not intrusive. They obviously take great pride in their property and offer an incredible vacation home. Everything you could possibly want was available, including condiments and shower products. This means you only have to bring your clothes, and something to put on the barbeque! The location offers activities in all directions and the best part of the day is sitting outside enjoying the total quiet and the wonderful view of the valley. One of the best vacation homes we have stayed at.

This place is awesome. It has great views from the living room and a beautiful yard. We went up there for two nights with three kids and they had absolute fun in the yard. House is well equipped with basic amenities. They provide local eggs in the refrigerator, and those are very tasty. This place is close to the national parks, so you can make 2 or 3 hours trips to both Kings and Sequoia.

Owner response: Thank you! Yes, you can drive to the entrance of Grant Grove 25 minutes from the house and then drive completely through both parks and come out the other side in Three Rivers!

My family and I celebrated My mom's 60th birthday here. Couldn't have picked a better spot to spend a few days with the family. House has almost everything you could ever need. April is a beautiful time of year to spend here, the wildflowers and weather were amazing. Home owners live nearby and were very welcoming and sweet. Would rent again from them in a heartbeat.

We stayed at the Starry Oaks 4/9 weekend. Its a lovely home, in a beautiful setting. Everything was as expected. The owners, Elaine and Timon, were very helpful and friendly. The house itself is very well equipped (loved the dvd collection) and clean. The patio behind the kitchen, and the front umbrella-sitting area were wonderful. There is a nice walking trail around the property which is a must-do. Kings Canyon entrance is about 30 mins away, as well a nice pizza place. At night, we watched stars with an iphone app as an aid, and the kids loved it. They also enjoyed the toys and games around the home. Thanks, Elaine and Timon, for a wonderful stay. We will certainly be back, soon hopefully.

Kimon and Elaine obviously take much pride in ownership of this terrific home. Starry Oaks was a great "home base" during a wonderful week for three generations (gathered to enjoy the foothills & national parks.) **HIGHLY RECOMMENDED** for both cleanliness and hospitality. (Don't forget to ask Kimon to turn off the floodlight. The stars at night are amazing!)

Kimon and Elaine, Thank you so much for our great weekend. You made all of us feel special. My boys talked about the Blue Bellied Fence Lizards all the way home!! Everyone else - this is THE place to stay if you are going to Kings Canyon and Sequoia National Parks. The house is everything described and more. Kimon and Elaine give you a wonderful welcome and we've not met nicer people in a long time. Whether you're a couple, two couples, or a family with kids, this is a wonderful home to rent and really made our vacation special. We'll definitely be coming back.

WONDERFUL place to stay! Updated accomodations with more than usual amenities! There's a binder book with all the local information, maps, things to see etc. Very informative! There's a fair size library of DVD's, and Books. Loved looking at the Complete Set of the Far Side cartoons! The View is breath taking and Star Gazing was UNBELIEVABLE! The local wildlife was fun to watch...the abundance of Quail, Scrub Jays, Chipmunks always kept me entertained! Kimon and Elaine (the owners) are the most Hospitable hosts and are both very willing to accomodate your needs. Elaine had baked and left a very Tasty Walnut Crumbcake when we arrived...SCRUMPTIOUS! Our stay was very Pleasant and Comfortable ... I Recommend this beautiful home/cabin and will definitely come back several times this year! THANK-YOU...Kimon and Elaine for a Delightful Stay! Irene and Doug
