We had a fantastic two weeks. Our son Tyler (2 years old) started calling this place "the special house." We couldn't agree more! He loved your red jeep, and he didn't want to "make Steve sad" by playing with things he wasn't supposed to. He did his best. We had a blast! Thank you.

We had a fantastic May week here and would return in September if it were available... The house was wonderful and everything that we needed to feel like we were at home was provided... The rooms are of good size and the layout makes for good "get out of my face, I need my own space" alone time... TV's in all the rooms... The Cape Ann area was fun to explore... Rockport, Essex, Manchester, Beverly, and Newberryport... Salem was a nice day trip to see the REM art museum... Had great fried clams at Woodman's in Essex with it's many antique shops to explore... It's an easy drive into Boston and all it's tourist attractions and activities... Steve's hospitality and friendly laugh will be remembered for a long time... Our future travels will definitely include a return to this area and this terrific home away from home...

Highly recommend this place! The owners thought of everything--you can actually rest and relax in this place. The photos just don't do it justice. It's right on the water, and a great location--so close to everything. We will absolutely be back!

I grew up in Gloucester, but moved to California 30 years ago. Staying here for 2 weeks felt more like moving back home than vacationing. The art work by local artists of local scenes, made this a special "home". Thanks for making us feel so welcome!

We enjoyed our stay here. It really is close to the water, and Plum Cove beach. It is also a walk to local stores, post office and very old burial grounds. The house itself is well designed, with polar bed rooms and a central dining room/ kitchen. The kitchen and appliances are excellent. The bed rooms are large and comfortable. Overall, we had a great stay - visiting Salem and the Peabody Essex Museum, the Wenham tea house, Newburyport shops, Rockport shops, Plumb Island beaches, and so forth. An excellent place...

Recommended for:Families with young children, sightseeing.

We just got back from a weeks stay at this place. The house is wonderful and the view was beautiful. The design of bedrroms and bathes on each end of the house is ideal. The house is very well equipted and very nicely furnished. Barbara and Steve are great!! They live next door so it was handy to get any questions we had answered. Lots to do and see within a 2 hour drive. Don't miss going to Hammond Castle which is close by. Would rent this house again!!! Nancy Baldwin

House and hosts were absolutely lovely! The internal pictures of the house do not do the house justice it is fantastic! and the hosts Steve and Barbara were great. The house had everything we wanted and was decorated and furnished with great taste and thought. Loved Rockport and morning walk to get a paper and a scone at the nearby shop. Train into Boston is easy to get and a great way to get into Boston. Highly recommended. Steve and Sue (North east UK)

Lovely house, very clean and well kept. A good base for touring the vicinity and coming home to at the end of the day. The hosts, Barb and Steve are second to none and are most kind. Lots of great seafood restaurants close by and if fish is not your thing, you can grill yourself a great steak at home on the grill! Once more, thanks to Barb and Steve for a wonderful week.

The layout of this place is ideal. The two private wings with the living space in the center make it a great choice for two parties. The location is also great, close to the Plum Cove Grind, and with beautiful views. Beautifully maintained, clean and cheerful.

It will be a very memorable 13th birthday for our daughter. We carved our pumpkin here and did the Massachusetts history puzzle on a rainy day. A lovely experience visiting this part of America, made so much more pleasant with the attention and friendship of our host and neighbor, Steve. Not only did he obtain 4 very large lobsters from the cove, but he cooked them for us, they were delicious, well done, Steve! The house is beautifully furnished with all you could possibly need for a good holiday, most comfortable and spacious. We would love to return, only 7.5 hours flying time from London. We had a wonderful vacation, the 4 of us, spending time with my brother and sister-in-law from the UK. The house is very comfortable with all of the amenities. Steve and Barbara are excellent neighbors and hosts, they go above and beyond to make sure everything is perfect. It's a long drive from Iowa (1,250 miles) but well worth the journey. You guys have a beautiful house with lots of quality touches! This is our first time to Massachusetts, and we have fallen in love with the area - particularly Cape Ann. Fantastic! Wonderful week, beautiful house with all the comforts of home (and then some). Couldn't have asked for better weather. We highly recommend the Lobster Pool Restaurant for eating in the rough, on Route 127 in Rockport. Gloucester House on the wharf in Gloucester was great too. Cala's in Manchester-by-the-Sea was awesome (pricey bistro). Steve, we enjoyed your hospitality and shared some great laughs. Would love to come back again soon. We'll miss this place. Thanks again. Great spot for a birthday weekend of relaxing away from home. The Causeway Restaurant overfed us on Friday, Halibut Point welcomed us on Saturday, and we enjoyed home-steamed lobsters on Saturday night.
