About this property

The Tin Shed Byron Bay Hinterland

A short 10 minute drive from Bangalow cruising through winding country lanes, you head up through the canopy of remnant rainforest ... to emerge on a ridgeline with stunning views across to the Nightcap Ranges, and arrive at what we affectionately call "The Tin Shed"; a self contained cottage centrally located to all the places you may want to visit in the area.

A beautiful funky space, an eclectic blend of mostly recycled materials and some new furnishings, it is peaceful, rustic and the only sounds are the local birdlife.

You have 3 main rooms: a bedroom with a queen antique brass bed and an open lounge area with kitchen facilities to one side. The bathroom is separate and there is a barbecue under the verandah.

What's to do? Well, the and explore...
At dusk or dawn spot some local wildlife, breakfast at one of the local cafes in Bangalow or the surrounding hills, it's 20 mins to Byron for a surf or swim in beautiful clear and warm water - often with dolphins, visit the farmers or weekend markets that buzz for some handmade objects or local produce, do some bushwalking along the coast or in the hills such as Minyon Falls, swim in our local waterhole, then... come home to a glass of wine, relax and cook up some of the produce you bought on the barbecue only to do it all again next day.

Local festival highlights include Bluesfest, the Byron Bay Writer's festival, the BBQ & Bluegrass festival in Bangalow and also the Bangalow Classical Music festival. Winter is also whale watching season and there are a number of fantastic viewing spots around the coastline.

We have lived in the area for over 14 years and can assist with places to go, and are happy to organise such things as a massage, yoga class or put together a picnic hamper.

Please note minimum 2 night booking, and 3 nights booking over Easter, school holiday and xmas/ long summer holiday period.

Late checkout by arrangement.

Unique Charming Haven
This lovely hideaway was charming and peaceful. Russell and Sally are warm and friendly hosts. They have styled their unique property with simplicity that is calming and comfortable, and we wanted for nothing during our stay. The Tin Shed is brilliantly located to enable visits to the wonderful attractions of the area, yet tucked away if you are seeking peace and quiet. We loved the bird life, period windows and vintage touches. We hope to return.

Brilliant accommodation!
We booked at the Tin Shed for six nights but enjoyed it so much that we extended our stay. Russell and Sally were friendly and extremely accommodating hosts. Nothing was ever too much trouble and we were impressed with the extra touches, from the fresh flowers on the table to the cheese platter and the well-stocked fridge. All our needs were catered for. The Tin Shed exceeded our expectations. We found it comfortable and relaxing, and the location was perfect for exploring the hinterland. We could not recommend this place highly enough and hope to return again in the near future.

Fantastic hideaway for those wanting time-out!
We absolutely loved staying in The Tin Shed! We had a beautiful week away after our wedding, and it really satisfied all that we wanted in a relaxing, peaceful, hinterland getaway. The Tin Shed itself is beautifully styled with antiques and attention to detail, which made it a comfortable stay, a home away from home. We went in April so the weather was still warm during the day but cooling down at night, and the Tin Shed cater for this with warm extra blankets and a heater. There is no bath tub, but we found we were able to relax in other ways and it didn't detract from our stay. We spent a lot of time exploring the area and found Nashua to be the perfect location as our base. So close to Byron and Bangalow, and on the highway to discover other villages easily. We highly recommend a visit to nearby Newrybar as Harvest Cafe is one not to miss! Russell, Sally and their sons (and Cino their dog) are all very lovely and warm hosts. We hope to stay again when we come back to the area.
