Why the Owner Chose Mackinaw City

Our cottage is in a little town of Carp Lake, Mi. We have enjoyed vacationing in this area for 30 years. We find the peaceful and tranquil area of Mackinaw very rejuvinating.
The beautiful area offers great natural peace. We found Acorn Cottage as we were looking for a retirement home in Northern Michigan. The area is rich in history with so much to do. Going to the dunes is like being in Florida. Hike in the woods. Or just sit and watch Paradise Lake.

The Unique Benefits at this Cottage

Acorn Cottage is surrounded by natural beauty.A pair of Bald Eagles make their home in the nature
preserve at Stoney Point . In the evening set on the platform on the dock and watch the sunset.
Take a boat ride in the rowboat or the pontoon. The fishing is great on the lake, large pike, bass, and perch. If you want to go hiking,Wilderness State Park is just a few miles away.
There are plenty of hiking trails to walk or drive along the road and see the woodland and
lakeshore beauty. The sand dunes are also just a few miles away. Go to dinner at Legg's Inn and
on your way enjoy the sand dunes and beach shoreline of the Straits of Mackinaw. You can walk
for miles on open beach. If it's shopping you enjoy, go to Mackinaw City and Mackinaw Island
and spend the day. There is plenty to do around our cottage. So go relax, and enjoy.

Owner's Map of Mackinaw City

You probably wonder why we named our cottage "Acorn".Before we purchased our cottage, while we were with the real estate woman, I looked into one of the bedrooms and I was looking at the bed. I noticed something under the mattress. There I found in ten neat little rows a collection of acorns. I opened the dresser drawer, and there were more acorns. The local chipmunks had quite the feast stored for the winter. After we bought the cottage I took those acorns and keep them in an air tight jar on the mantel. So we named our cottage Acorn Cottage. The chipmunks still store the acorns, but they are now outside, not inside.
