Map & Owner's Profile
Beautiful 4-11 Bdrm Beachfront Villa 3.5 Miles South of P.V.
Why the Owner Chose South Zone
We had been coming here since 1974 and the south zone always appealed to us more than any other parts because of the way the green mountains come down to the water. We are big swimmers and the water south of town is always clear and cleaner because the rivers are hard rock bottom and don't bring alot of mud and silt down to the ocean.
The Unique Benefits at this Villa
There is a certain relaxing tranquility about this property.
Its right on the nicest beach (the longest on the entire south shore) in Puerto Vallarta, fine white sand, very nice for long walks and it has a very gentle slope so its easy to get in and out of the water-especially for little kids and older people.
Its a short drive to town if we want to dine or shop yet its far enough away that its very peaceful.
River and Water fall Jungle restaurant Zip line canopy tour Hiking Bird watching Tequila tasting
Best Swimming beach south of Puerto Vallarta. No drop off, no under tow.
Where Tennessee Williamss The night of the Iguana was filmed starring Richard Burton, Eva Gardener and Deborah Kerr. Richard Burton brought his soon to be bride Elizabeth Taylor to the location shoot.Circa 1963.
Underwater ecological reserve.Best Snorkeling in the bay. Can pass in a tunnel through the rock snorkeling or in a boat.
One the best areas in all of Puerto Vallarta for shopping and the best gourmet dining. Only 3.5 miles from Casa Macumba.

We traveled a lot when we were younger and fell in love with Vallarta because its friendly people, excellent climate and relative proximity to the U.S.

We have been coming to Casa Macumba for many years. It continues to improve without losing the rustic appeal that makes it so special. We enjoy being far enough from town but still having easy access to shopping, restaurants, etc. Quiet, private, clean and well maintained, all of the staff are so accomodating and the food is excellent! In the new villa,Blair's sense of design shines out. Although art is a personal taste, I appreciate the selection of art in the rooms and on the walls and the blend of old and new as well as the thought that has gone into creating a space of beauty and relaxation

We traveled to Casa Macumba for 8 days with 12 adults and 8 children (ranging in age from 1 to 16). We were greeted at the airport by Nicholas, the owner's driver, and our amazing vacation began. Blair, the owner, is so unbelievably accomodating and friendly, and his staff is amazing! There was never a request that was not fulfilled. We celebrated the first birthday of our youngest and the chefs were more than happy to help us do so. They bought us a pinata, helped us in the yard to do the pinata with the kids, decorated the dining room and baked a delicious cake. They made it wonderful! Casa Macumba is VERY comfortable, the rooms were kept immaculate by Patricia and the grounds were spotless thanks to Fernando. We were a little concerned with the open floor plan to the pool with the little kids (3 children under 2), but Blair immediately built a "gate" for the door from the living room for us. We found ourselves outside most of the time because the breeze was refreshing and it was such a beautiful landscape. The menu provided to us was quite extensive and the preparation was delicious! We asked Carlos on more than one occasion to make separate dishes for the kids and he did so with smile!! Hugo cleared the table as soon as we were finished and served the most delicious desserts! The house is equipped with wireless internet and we all were able to access it with no problems. It is secured, so we were not worried when we had to enter confidential information. Nicholas, Blair's driver, is also a tour guide. He took us on two separate tours...first to the zip lines and a hike through the rain forest and second to the waterfalls. Both were amazing! He even went to a local village to pick up a professional cliff diver and brought him to the waterfall for us to see him dive! The kids then were able to slide down rocks and "dive" with him! The house is just a few steps from the beach. The beach is a sandy beach lined with beautiful rocks. Very easy to walk barefoot. We also were able to see some of the most amazing sights. On our second night we watched an olive ridley sea turtle come out of the ocean and lay her eggs. We watched mesmerized for about an hour. Then on our last night, we were even more amazed as a different nest of turtle eggs began to hatch. We watched with many others on the beach as 15 tiny sea turtles emerged from the nest and made their journey to the sea! We highly recommend Casa Macumba!!!

We stayed at this fabulous villa in June 2010 for 5 nights. The accomadations were first class, the staff were all so attentive to all of our needs. I liken the meals that the chef made to a 5 star restaurant. The kitchen had all of the amenities if you wanted to cook for yourself. I can't say enough about our stay. It was one of the most relaxing trips we have ever taken. Taxi service to town was quick and effortless and the drive was less than 10 minutes. We would definitely recommend this property to everyone and would hope to revisit it in the future. The owner of the villa and his property manager really should be proud of this estate. They were fantastic to work with. Casa Macumba is a jewel. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU.. lee ...party of 12

Our visit in May 2009 to Casa Macumba was everything the owner Blair and the internet said it would be and more. After a week of exploring Puerto Vallarta by both land and sea, we concluded this property is one of only a very few that are directly on the water and with a sandy beach for easy access. It was sunset when we arrived and we were welcomed like rock stars. All of our gear (suit cases, coolers, and fishing tackle) was graciously unloaded from our vehicles by the staff. The salsa music was playing and the waiter was serving up margaritas, we were in heaven. We had arrived after a long journey driving down from Chihuahua. The property includes an authentic Mexican hacienda, just our style. A house with archways, tile roofs, Saltillo floors and rustic furnishing we felt was the only way to get the complete Puerto Vallarta experience. We spent most of our time outdoors around the pool, enjoying the views, ocean breezes and lush gardens. The staff included; a chef, chef’s assistant, housekeepers and pool man were all exceptionally kind and were helpful with more than just around the house duties. They helped us book a fishing boat and recommended a few nearby sites for us to explore. We stayed for five fantastic nights and it wasn’t long enough. We can’t wait to go back and enjoy the hospitality of Casa Macumba and staff. We will be back!

My family and I stayed at Casa Macumba for 2 weeks and thoroughly enjoyed our vacation. It was perfect for families and the staff were amazing. It was so nice to have the option of jumping in the pool while our little ones napped and just having that flexibility was huge for us. The property was beautiful, spacious and quite accurate to it's photos. The beach was alot of fun, a little rough but great for boogie boarding and playing around in the sand. The food was amazing, service excellent and the grounds were very well kept by the staff. The property was approx. 15 minutes to downtown and quite easy to get there by taxi or bus. It was a quieter area which we loved and the owners were great people...as well as their children who often came over and played with our children. All in all...it was a fabulous vacation!

My family rented this property for a month and wanted to extend our visit! The staff is absolutely amazing! Patti is their housekeeper and she was so nice, whenever we asked for assistance with our laundry, she immediately took care of it (we tipped her), Carlos was the chef and he was fantastic! Him and his sous chef made the most amazing dinners - in total we went off the property 3 times during our trip!! They gave us the menu the night before and we discussed the menu! He even assisted us in making our baby food (there were 3 babies)! Every meal was served on time, great flavor and healthy. All we needed to do was talk with Blair (the owner)and he always made sure that we had what we needed. His wife was incredibly nice and babysat for us on a couple of occasions. Whenever there was anything that came up that we needed help with, Blair and Lulu (his wife) ALWAYS took care of it. The villa is as pictured - all brand new linens, mattresses, towels. We absolutely loved our vacation and will definitely be back! This vacation rivaled all of our 5 star vacations in Europe and definitely beat out all of the hotels in Mexico we've stayed at! I highly recommend this type of vacation for people with young children! In terms of dealing with Blair on the contract - it was a relatively easy process. He's got all of the paperwork together and is extremely organized. They have two children that were absolutely wonderful that came over to play with one of the kids - they were polite and really sweet! Even the dogs were sweet!! The only negative is that there were not TVs in every room - however, we still managed even without the TVs in every room.

We stayed at Casa Macumba in mid February and had an absolutely AMAZING time. We did a lot of research on villas before booking Macumba as we were looking for a place that could not only host an 80 person wedding but also be a place where my family and my husbands could spend a few days getting to know each other. There are many different amenities at all of the villas in puerto vallarta and we had some pretty specific things we were looking for: directly on the beach (there aren't many -- most are in the hills), private bathrooms with each bedroom (merging two families is hard enough), air conditioning in each room, pool, kid friendly (ages 6 and 3), could host a wedding, in our price range and close proximity to downtown. Macumba had it all. I should also say that it was important to me that we stayed in a Villa that felt like Old Mexico and not like a house in the hills of La Jolla, California (where we currently live). There are plenty of really modern looking villas in Vallarta but to me, Macumba feels like you've stepped back in time. The staff at the villa are great and the meals that we had prepared their were amazing -- and if you go ask them to make these shrimp empanadas -- i'm still dreaming of them! Blair is really helpful and was always available if we had any questions or concerns. In fact, my brother-in-law lost his iphone in the back of a Taxi and Blair started making phone calls to the taxi company right away -- a day after we checked out of Macumba he called and said he got it back. For us, that kindness and honesty will keep us going back for years. Hope this helps and enjoy your vacation!
