Enjoy drinks or dinner in the new outdoor sunken Living Room with full ocean/lagoon view! Lounge by the pool, in the spa (all with view), our at night at the fire pit looking down on the Beautiful Pacific Ocean, or head just down the hill to lay on the beach, surf waves, or take a run.
Our beautiful home is set over the San Elijo Lagoon and Wildlife Preserve with a gorgeous view of the lagoon and ocean.
The property sits on a 1/2 acre, with a pool and Jacuzzi, large grassy area for Frisbee or croquet, a large Viking gas grill, fire pit and good canyon hiking. Our pool, fire pit and Jacuzzi are separately gated for safety. If you have smaller children ages 1-7, be sure to rent a property with a gated pool area.
This vacation house is a sprawling 1 story 4300 square feet, with an open floor plan just made for entertaining, decorated with contemporary style and art.
The gourmet, fully stocked kitchen has subzero refrigerator, dacor gas cooktop, convection oven and microwave, a fully automatic espresso machine, gorgeous granite counters, custom maple cabinetry, stainless artistic backsplash, and stone tile flooring. The remaining living space is all maple flooring, with contemporary pendant lighting, and views from many rooms.
The family room provides large TV, stereo, Ipod docking, Uverse (all pay channels), DVD, VCR, exercise equipment, fireplace, views of the ocean, and ample seating. There is a sunroom with a large dining table.
The living room, a sweeping “great room” is showpiece, with red leather couches and pale yellow ultra suede chairs, a Jerusalem tile fireplace, and gorgeous pendant fixtures. The dining area includes chenille seating and a beautiful large dining table.
There are two accessible office areas, with desks, internet (wireless or plug-in, your choice), and computer monitors for your use, and printers. One office also includes a game table, board games, and an electric keyboard.
The bedrooms are all newly carpeted. The MBR includes a beautiful queen sleigh bed, gas fireplace, sitting area, gorgeous view, large flat screen TV with DirecTV and DVD player, walk in closet, separate bath with 2 pedestal sinks, walk in two-person shower, and oversized tub.
The guest BR holds a king size bed, private bath, and a sitting. 1 additional BR offers a brand new memory foam california king bd, and another has a queen bed. The fifth room holds a full size bed, allowing up to 10 people in beds, + 2 more on couches or air mattresses if you so require. There are 2 additional full baths in the home as well. Each room has a television, some with DirecTV, DVD players, or Playstations. You are welcome to request either or both Queen airmattresses to sleep 14 in beds.
The neighborhood is safe and friendly with loads of kids. Down the hill is the world known Seaside Market, for your food shopping, and there are restaurants, a spa, and shopping. The house is only 1 mile to the best surfing in the country, where famous Rob Machado, Sean White and others surf, 2 exits north of the world famous Del Mar Race Track during race season, the Skate Park, where famous skater, Sean White and Tony Hawk, practice and it is open to the public, 15 minutes from Legoland, 20 minutes from Seaworld, 30 minutes from the San Diego Zoo, downtown and the Gaslamp, and the San Diego Wild Animal Park. Disneyland and Mexico are just over an hour away.

We rented this house in Cardiff by the Sea for a week in August. The house was perfect for our group of adults but would also work well for a family. The house had plenty of room and we really enjoyed the benefits of a fully stocked kitchen. The backyard is definitely what sold us on the rental. It is large enough for everyone to enjoy. We liked that the pool and hot tub are gated and there was a separate lawn area. There was still plenty of room to lounge around the pool, enjoy a meal outside or sit in the sunken outdoor living room and enjoy the beautiful views! A fully fenced yard enabled us to bring our dogs and not worry about them getting out. Easy access to the freeway and Del Mar racetrack. Short drive to grocery store and several bars and restaurants in Cardiff.
Recommended for:Families with teenagers, age 55+, pet owners, families with young children.

We stayed at this great location the first week in August with our extended family: Me and my wife and kids, my two sisters and their families and my mom for a total of 6 adults and 5 kids. The place was quite roomy for all of us. We were able to all get together when we wanted but there were enough discrete areas that anyone could have privacy when they wanted it. The place was pretty much exactly as described: beautiful, contemporary, open, perfect for entertaining. We spent a lot of our week at the house, enjoying the pool, cooking huge meals, playing games. We all love to cook when we're on vacation. We have rented from VRBO for years and this is the best stocked kitchen I've ever seen. I made burgers and ribs for 14 on the grill all at one time. My sister and nieces baked cakes, pies, and scones. We had friends over for a lunch and all sat at the outdoor areas and enjoyed the view. The location was perfect. My wife is from Encinitas and she was worried about it being too far away from the beach, but it wasn't at all. In fact, because all the beaches were just a short drive away, we went to a different beach every day (and enjoyed the local eateries near each beach). Our only complaints were: The pool system was a little tricky to use. We pretty much never figured out how to get the hot tub hot. Sometimes we lucked into getting it hot, but the next time we did the same thing, it didn't work. Also, we are big readers and there wasn't very good reading light anywhere except in the bedrooms. But that's pretty much it. We'd rent this property again in a heartbeat.
