Looking for a unique and beautiful vacation home to enjoy with family and friends?
A classic example of Old World elegance! This Spanish Mediterranean style home was built in the 1920’s and is one of the last remaining original homes on Mount Soledad. From the living room with arched doorways and high beamed ceiling, through the sun room to the secluded garden patios, the home is a beautiful example of La Jolla's golden age.
The original owner of this home surrounded herself with artifacts and furniture collected from the travels of her Navy family. The house is decorated with this sense of Navy history and furnishings brought from the Orient.
The living room has been redone for family enjoyment. Leather couches and a huge HDTV make it a great place to hang out. The dining room, which can seat up to twelve, adjoins the modern kitchen. The kitchen has been redone in Mexican Talavera tile and updated for the modern cook, with new appliances and cooking utensils. A sliding glass door opens the house up to mingle between the sun room (lanai) and the large upper patio. The open, airy design is ideal for gracious indoor/outdoor living.
The master bedroom, which overlooks the rose garden and lower terrace, has a king sized bed and bathroom with shower. The second bedroom has a queen bed. A third bedroom has two twin beds. A second full bathroom is just down the hall. All beds have new top quality mattresses and linens.
Downstairs there is a fourth bedroom with a king bed and bathroom with shower. This bedroom has an adjoining room perfect for the baby's crib or as a reading room. Also downstairs, the grand piano room has a couch which folds out to a queen bed for additional sleeping needs.
The grounds are incredible— 10,000 square feet of lush gardens and patios. The spacious upper patio is surrounded by trees, a high wall and hedge for privacy. A round table with comfortable chairs for six and additional seating areas make this a perfect place for barbecues and outdoor dining. Classic steamer loungers for sunning or reading a book.
A brick pathway takes you around the house, through the rose garden to the secluded lower patio. Here the tree canopy filters the sunlight and there are additional tables and seating for a picnic. This home is child-friendly, pet-friendly, family-friendly!

My husband Joe and I manage the property and take personal pride in pleasing our guests. I loved the house growing up and I love sharing it with guests who always find it so special. It's a wonderful place for a family— there is a peaceful tranquility I experience here. The home was built in a different era when time seemed to move more slowly. The graceful architecture and the flowing, airy feel is conducive to relaxed indoor/ outdoor living. Pure and simple, I love this home.
