From 1926 through 1932, this was a speak-easy and an exclusive private club, in Port Isabel, Texas. Named the Yacht Club, this hideaway for the elite with its Spanish architecture, white stucco walls, red tile roof and open porches, was considered the jewel of the Rio Grande Valley.
In its early years, the Yacht Club was visited by Charles Lindberg, Al Capone, and other notable public figures. In 1947, the Yacht Club opened to the public as a hotel and although now equipped with modern comforts, the elegance and ambience of the 1920's remain, making a vacation at the historic Yacht Club both memorable and comfortable.
