We have continued to add new amenities which are free for our guests use! We now have a nice double hammock near the water's edge and have added Adirondak chairs on the dock. We have a new Weber grill... as well as beautiful new outdoor furniture on the screened porch. A nice 3-person canoe is now available for our guests. We have also purchased a 20 foot "Lifetime" pontoon boat with 60 HP Yamaha motor that is available for rent by our guests only... at the best rate available on the lake! (Note: Boat Rentals end in October for the season).

ABOUT LAKE WEDOWEE AND THE BEARFOOT LODGE...
Relax in style and enjoy this beautifully furnished and tastefully decorated, 3 Bedroom, 2 bath vacation home on one of the cleanest lakes in the Southeast. Approx 90 minutes from metro Atlanta or Birmingham, Lake Wedowee has been called Alabama's best kept secret... until the last few years.

Nestled in the foothills of the southern end of the Appalachian chain... Lake Wedowee is a mountain lake, affording gorgeous views of over 270 miles of shoreline... less than 25 percent of the lake has been developed, so there are plenty of places to find peace and quiet. Ski and wakeboard all day or just drop the anchor in a quiet cove and relax. You can also enjoy some of the best fishing in the southeast! Cheaha State Park, with it's beautiful waterfalls and hiking trails, is less than 30 minutes away.

Our home has everything you need to enjoy a relaxing vacation in style! Just launch your boat at one of two nearby boat ramps and moor it at your own private dock in the backyard. Two large porches and a waterside gazebo offer plenty of space for outdoor relaxing and dining. Our lot slopes gently to the water which provides plenty of room for kids to play and explore. "MAD RIVER" 3-MAN CANOE FREE FOR GUEST USE.

All towels, linens, dishes, and cooking utensils provided. We've tried to create a quiet peaceful, atmosphere where you can spend time with friends and family, with plenty of things to do together. Play a board game or read a book and relax. Or just sit out on the screened porch at night and listen to the symphony of frogs and crickets. We also have a nice home theatre system, for watching movies or listening to music on DVD/CD. NEW Weber BBQ grill (charcoal) available for guest use.

Just 4 miles from downtown Wedowee. Minutes to grocery stores, movie rental, drugstore, and other shopping (Super Walmart a short drive away). Several nice family style restaurants within 15 minutes including excellent barbeque, Mexican, Pizza, and "Southern-style" cuisine. Lakeside Marina also has a casual-dining restaurant that is accessible by boat! You will enjoy the slow-paced, relaxing lifestyle at Lake Wedowee. Come make some family memories at this simple, but elegant lake home!

PONTOON BOAT RENTAL... We now have a very nice Pontoon boat with 60 HP Yamaha outboard motor available for rent... best rate available on the lake. $100 per day/$500 per week (Seperate contract required... Boat operator must have previous boating experience... no towing allowed).
* Boat rental ONLY available to renting guests and must be rented for entire duration of guest stay.

  • My husband and I, along with our daughter and her husband and our 4 grandkids spent a long weekend at the Bearfoot Lodge to celebrate his 60th birthday. The lake house was beautiful, very peaceful and calm, very clean with plenty of space. We also rented the pontoon boat, which was absolutely wonderful. We spent a lot of time enjoying the beautiful lake, and having the boat down at the dock waiting for us was GREAT. The screened in porch was often used, especially to enjoy a morning coffee, or at night to listen to the frogs. We had a marvelous time and hope to be back soon!

  • My wife and I spent a long weekend at the lake house and truely enjoyed every moment. We loved the big back doors that opened onto the screened in back porch. We water skied and intertubed on the lake; the water felt great! We had lunch in a quiet little cove. Our favorite part of the weekend was the quiet relaxation in this beautiful cabin.
