The cottage is a private, well-appointed vacation rental that provides an ideal retreat for touring the Sonoma and Napa wine country. Located in a garden setting 5 blocks from the Healdsburg Plaza in the central, historic district, the cottage is adjacent to a 2-story, 1880's Victorian farmhouse in a friendly, pedestrian neighborhood. The cottage (600 sq. ft.) sleeps up to four people comfortably and offers an open, sunny living area with vaulted ceilings, a bedroom and large bathroom with a shower facility. The window seat overlooks the cottage garden.
The setting accommodates visitors who want to relax in privacy. The bedroom has a very comfortable queen bed and the living area includes a queen-sized futon couch. Amenities include complimentary bottled water, coffee and tea service. Cottage equipped with air conditioner, hospitality sink, microwave, toaster over, mini-refrigerator, Cable TV/VCR, and Radio/CD, Wifi. Enjoy dining outdoors in our quiet, private garden area or read and relax in one of the nearby Adirondack chairs. The cottage is within an easy walk to award-winning restaurants and shopping. It is very quiet and peaceful at night.

We really enjoyed our recent stay in this charming & well located cottage! It was nice & quiet outside at night too which makes it much nicer than staying downtown, I think. Just being the 2 of us, my husband & I had ample room for ourselves & our things. The bed was very comfortable & the bathroom very spacious as well. The seating area is lovely, if only we had had more time there we would have enjoyed hanging out there as well. (but also great for those who have friends and/or kids to sleep on that futon) Also the garden is lovely & the fact that there are comfortable chairs out there is wonderful. And the location within walking distance to the plaza can't be beat! We'll be back for sure! thanks, Kelly, you're a great host!
Recommended for:Age 55+, sightseeing, girls getaway, romantic getaway, families with young children.

The Good: The owners are very nice, very accomodating and easy to work with. The cottage is very close to downtown Healdsburg and an easy walk to everything in town. We barely used our car while there. The garden area is very nice. The description and pictures are accurate to what you actually get. The surrounding neighborhood is nice and safe and very quiet at night. The cottage is easy to find. They had Looney Toons DVDs for our kiddo to watch - it was a great way to get him out of bed early the morning we had to leave. Their puppy and older dog were very sweet and nice greeters. The Okay: The parking is on street and if you get there while school is getting out (the middle school is right across the street) parking is pretty much impossible. The good news is pick up lasts about 15 minutes, so after everyone clears out parking becomes much easier. You do have to be prepared to carry your luggage a little ways (this wasn't a problem for us), yet good to know for some. The immediate next door home could use some love and affection (not really a big deal) and the neighbors were quiet. Areas for Improvement: There were cobwebs everywhere (in every room) in the cottage and the floors were pretty dusty/dirty, so cleaning could use some improvement. Other things to know: This place is really small (600 sq ft) as described. We pretty much just slept there which it was perfect for. Yet this really isn't a place I would want to hang out in for periods of time. Of course it's bigger than most standard hotel rooms, so it is all relative. If the weather is nice, the patio adds extra living space. There isn't a door between the main room and the bedroom, so there really isn't privacy between the two main rooms. Don't plan to cook in the cottage. The fridge is very small (the owner offered space in a garage fridge for overflow though) and you have a microwave and toaster - yet why would you eat there when there are so many great restaurants - we loved the Flakey Cream for breakfast and Barndiva for dinner is oh so yummy. The Center Street Cafe was just okay in our estimation (for breakfast). All in all this cottage met with our expectations and met our needs for a short two night stay. My only real wish would be for the place to be cleaner than it was. I'm not OCD about cleanliness, yet this was enough beyond my comfort zone, so thought I would mention it.
Owner response:Thanks for this thoughtful review. I was surprised that this guest found cobwebs and dust. I had just cleaned and vacuumed thoroughly, or, so I thought. I do my own cleaning and am very particular about the appearance of the cottage. We have many repeat guests and this has been our first complaint about our standards of cleanliness. Future guests can be assured that the cottage will be spotless! Thanks again.

We stayed in this cottage for a long weekend in healdsburg sept '11. Even 4 months prior to our trip most of the hotels and small inns in town were booked. We were delighted to find such a wonderful alternative. The cottage was clean and private. Kelly was prompt, professional, and booking was a breeze. It is within walking distance of the plaza- 5-10 minutes. This was important to us as we had planned to drink and dine at several Healdsburg restaurants during our stay and didn't want to deal with driving. This brings me to the only downside- you are in town so you hear people talking on the sidewalk and the neighbors doing yard work. It's not completely silent. We had friends stay one night on the futon in the living room which worked out fine. There isn't a full kitchen, but it had mini fridge, sink, coffee and tea equipment, etc. If we had stayed longer I would spend an afternoon in the courtyard or on the window seat. It's relaxing and adorable. we'd absolutely stay again.
