Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2001

Scott and Katie consider this cabin their Diamond in the Rough. Our cabin was built in 1963 and completely renovated in 2005. It was the very first property developed on Thunderbird Mountain. The builder of the original home lives right across the Lake. We looked for a Lake House for years before discovering the secret of Lake Santeetlah. It was Love at First Site and we love sharing this amazing piece of HEAVEN. We know you will enjoy it as much as we do.

Why the Owner Chose Lake Santeetlah

We have never seen a Lake this beautiful. Looking down from our deck you can see at least 10 feet into the water. Our view is Unbeatable, and will never be altered. Only 20% of the lake is able to be built on, the remaining 80% is Natural Forest. When you wake up in the morning, go get a cup of coffee and sit on the huge deck. If your lucky you may see one fishing boat go by, but most likely you will see A Bald Eagle. We love that there is no Movie Theatre, No Mall, and No Walmart.

The Unique Benefits of this House

Don't be surprized if you see a Bald Eagle fly by or a Beaver swim next to your boat.
We love our Raccoon families that come by from time to time. You truly feel transported to a different world. The lake never gets crowded or rough. You can sit on our huge deck in the morning and watch the smoke rise from the water to display a single canoe quietly floating across the lake. It is as close to Heaven as you can get.

Book for Summer - Luxury Log Cabin on the Lake.

Best Week Ever

Our family stayed here in June 2010. This may be our favorite vacation ever. We went into Dillsboro one evening and Cherokee one day, but other than that we hardly left the cabin. When we did leave the cabin, we couldn't wait to get back. The deck, the dock, and the big tv were all hits with us. I've never been on a vacation where the locals were so friendly to visitors. We will definitely return.

Owner response:Thank you, your welcome to come back anytime. Katie

What a lovely Lake House. Thank you Mitchell’s for a wonderful Holiday. The walking trails, the house, the Lake and WHAT VIEWS!!! The Best House on the Lake! The large open deck was used every day. We enjoyed the fireplaces on the deck and the barbeque every night. Thank you for a great vacation. Ken and Jennifer Frey

Owners not responsive and did not follow up

Guest: Charles (Gainesville, Ga)
Date of Stay: 10/13/07 Review Submitted: 06/30/10

My wife and I stayed here in October 2007. The lake is a beautiful setting. Cozy is the correct description. The bedroom on the main level is small. The stairways are restrictive. Our stay was okay, but when we arrived the place had not been cleaned and we had to launder the sheets, etc. When we contacted the owner, they said they would refund the clean up cost to us. The owners were very pleasant but never did follow up and do what they said what they would do, which was a real shame.

Owner response:I am sorry the stay was so bad. It took three years for you to respond in this manner. I wish we would have known a little sooner. This is not the typical response and we would love to make up for any inconvenience you experienced. Katie

This house is GREAT. The interior has all of the charm that you would look for in a lakeside mountain retreat. The location offers great views of the lake and the huge outdoor deck is a great place to eat meals or enjoy the peace and quiet. Our family stayed here during the first week of August and we had such a great time that we are already planning a return trip next summer. We rented a deck boat from Deyton Camp marina and spent most of our time tubing, cruising, and fishing. This was one of the most relaxing and enjoyable vacations that we have ever had. Our kids (ages 9, 12, and 14) loved every minute and were never bored. This house has all of the modern conveniences that you would ever want and the owner was very pleasant to deal with.
