I had the pleasure of staying in one of the 2 BR units and Villa La Colina from Dec 27-Jan 2 with my boyfriend and his 2 kids (ages 10 and 12). I can't say enough about what an AWESOME choice this was! The condo had everything we needed (except a rice cooker so practice your skills as we ruined 3 batches of rice...LOL!) and more. The location was awesome, close to town but away from the evening noise and chaos. Easy day trips to national parks such as Rincon de la Vieja and Rio Celeste (if there's been a lot of rain, the hike will be VERY muddy and the river will not be blue...but it's an adventure nonetheless). Angela coordinated our rental unit and she was AMAZING to deal with and had lots of suggestions for things to do. The units she rents are very well equipped and in great condition with a reliable stream of hot water (this is harder to find in CR than you may think!). All in all, it was an amazing stay and I would LOVE to go back for a month next time!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, sightseeing.

We decided to vacation in Costa Rica for the first time over Christmas 2012. Even though we did not stay in Angela and Vince's unit, Angela was extremely helpful in finding us another unit available for our stay @ Villa La Colina . Angela was also very helpful in giving us suggestions for things to do in the area. One of her suggestions even became our favorite beach on our trip. The condo was clean and very nice. Everything was in good working condition and my family of 5 felt we had plenty of room. A couple of very small complaints. The bathrooms are poorly lit and have no circulation, but this is really not a huge deal. We also had to buy a pot for the condo that was big enough to cook for a family of 5. The dishes provided are more for preparing a meal for a couple. The pot cost us $27US. We stayed in the third tier, and it is very steep to get up and down from the condo, I would suggest you rent a car or golf cart if you stay here. I have come to realize everything is steep in Guanacaste, but getting to the beach or to town from this condo would be quite a hike for us flat landers. Now for the more than Awesome things... Having the washer/dryer was great. A/C in all the rooms was great. Even though it was in the low 90's the entire time we where there, we did not use the a/c very much though. I cannot say enough about the security team onsite, especially our night guard. They where on top of things for sure, and we always felt very safe. Tito is the property maintence manager. He is a great guy and friendly. We had a great time hanging out with Tito, and getting good suggestions for our next days adventures. Brian, I believe is the HOA president, he also was very nice and helpful. My children lived in the swimming pool, when we where at the Condo, it was perfect. Our # 1....we loved getting up at 5 am and watching and howling with the howler monkey family in the back of the building... We counted a total of 7, of them, one being a baby, probably about as big as softball...cutest thing ever!! All in All, this was the best family vacation we have had. We believed the Villa La Colina was a great fit for us and Guanacaste offers plenty to keep all ages very busy and having the time of their lives.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

We stayed in this condo for a month during most of July and a week of August and I have zero complaints. Its very hard to tell what a place is like from pictures and descriptions but you can put aside your misgivings about this one. It was just perfect. Vince is very friendly, easy to contact, honest and upfront. The condo has everything you could need and everything was in perfect working order. Very clean and comfortable. Onsite staff is very helpful and friendly. Even with a minimal of spanish we had no problems communicating. The 24 hours security was awesome. I had no missgivings about leaving my 14 year old there if I needed to run to town or wanted go for a hike, very safe. I loved the location also. It is far enough from town to feel secluded but close enought to get there quickly. We had only bikes for 3 weeks of our stay and it was about a 10-15 minute bike ride to town to get supplies. We would often walk to town in the late afternoon and then eat dinner, get some groceries and catch a cab back after dark for 4 dollars. The Ticos are warm and friendly. More than once we had bike issues and a complete stranger would stop to give us a hand. There is much to see and do if you choose but most days our biggest decision was which pool to hang out at for the day. For sure the most relaxing vacation I have taken. The animals around the condo are really cool as well. One evening we played cards out by the pool and we were visited by a crab, a fox and a very friendly skunk. If i ever again get a whole month to get away I wouldnt hesitate to go back here again.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

Wonderful experience. We rented the condo from mid-April through mid-May. Having the unit for an entire month gave us the opportunity to come and go as we pleased and as our schedules would allow. It was great not trying to cram a vacation and all of the experiences and sights in Costa Rica into one week. We would rent again. The unit had everything we needed. It was clean, safe, and convenient. We rented a car and drove all around Costa Rica, but our home base was the condo. It was a welcoming place to come home to. Thanks to Vince Scrudato for being so amazing -- accommodating, professional, warm, and helpful! Villa la Colina was the perfect place to base our family Christmas adventure and a great place to chill out after the kids returned to school and work. We felt this was the best area to explore from as there was so much to do--something for everyone, sufing, zipping, hiking, tubeing, rafting, beaching or just hanging out at the pool, which is just outside the door. The listing description is accurate, it is clean, owner very helpful and the staff on site are more than helpful. The wildlife just outside the door every morning was an added bonus.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The condo(s)-we stayed in two with the same owner--were both as described, clean, well maintained and possessed full amenities. The owner-and his representative-were very helpful if offering advice and in dealing quickly and efficiently with a failed water heater. Ocotal and nearby Playas del Coco are mellow, low keyed villages just beginning to feel the influence of tourism. This is no Puerta Vallarta, but a couple of villages still very close to their fishing roots. The beaches, Ocotal and CoCo are lovely, uncrowded and pleasant to swim. For dining, we can remcommend Ginger and the Hotel de Finnestere (spelling may be off there) in nearby Playa Hermosa, and La Dolce Vita and A Taste of Texas in Playa del CoCo. Great time, great accommodation, great owner. Highly recommendedRecommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

3rd year here at the Condo. We love it. so much to do, and we have done most adventures. Arenal, rain forest, deep sea fishing, turtle watching, snorkeling. We love to beach hop, each beach has its own personality. Ocotal is right out our back door practically, try snorkeling on the right side, by the rocks, and splash in the eddys , a perfect place for little ones to play! We love to cook, and the kitchen is wonderful. Condo is about the nicest in the Villa La Colina community. Freshly decorated, and clean clean clean. We are booked for 2011..can't wait!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

This was our third stay in as many years. We had already done most of the touristy things, so this year we mostly just "beach hopped". Ocotal beach is wonderful. We snorkled, swam, and sunned ourselves to a golden brown. We love the condo. We love to cook, so the facilities for that are wonderful. When we don't cook , we go to Taste of Texas on the main drag of Coco . Icy cold bottles of Coke are just the best in the CR heat of the day. The BBQ Ribs/brisket/ect are soo wonderful. . WE are booked for November 2011..can't wait!Recommended for: Adventure seekers, age 55+, romantic getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.
