Beautiful, Spacious, Steps to Waikiki Beach!

Year Purchased: 2005

Why the Owner Chose Tradewinds Plaza

The location of my condo also beats the waikiki traffic! Because you can take Kapahulu avenue from H-1 down towards the beach, then the last right turn you can make before hitting the beach is Lemon rd. (yes its that close) this makes it easy to get in and out without having to drive all the way through waikiki everytime which can get quite congested somedays. Trust me this end of waikiki is much better unless you like to be in the middle of waikiki where the beach is so tiny and crowded you can hardly find a spot to lay down on and yet its still a 10 minute stroll from the middle of it all so you can go there too easily for the international market place and everything else.

The Unique Benefits at this Studio

This building "Tradewinds Plaza" I chose as well because it is very unique compared to most vacation rentals/hotels in Waikiki. For starters its not a condo-hotel, Its a privately owned condo and its much smaller than most buildings. You'll notice how nicely the building exterior and common areas are kept by the property managers, Mary and Joe Hardin. The security is also a nice touch, you must have a card key to access the building and parking areas that are gated. There are several surveillance cameras around the building as well just as an added security measure not that there has been a lot of crime in the area but alot of buildings you can just walk right into and the car area is not secured either. Did I also mention how close this building is to the beach?? Seriously, I can not emphasize this enough, the condo is clean and recently remodled but so are a lot of condos, the thing you will notice (everyone does who stays there) is the super short walk to the beach. Most hotels in this area (this close to the beach run at $200/night and up) There is also a full kitchen complete with all the dishes and cookware you would need and snorkel gear, beach chairs, a boogie board for your use, free cable TV, parking included, A/C and a partial ocean view. What more do you want? There is not a swimming pool in this building but personally I wouldn't come all the way to Hawaii, land of the most gorgeous and famous beaches in the world to swim in a swimming pool so this didn't matter to me when purchasing a condo in Waikiki.

A
Waikiki Zoo

Traditonal zoo (small-moderately sized) on the weekends, local artists and craftsman display their works on the "Zoo Fence" for purchase. Makes a great stroll around the zoo to see.

B
Waikiki Aquarium

Waikiki Aquarium, although a smaller aquarium it offers a great variety of things to see and learn about Hawaii's unique marine eco-systems.

C
Kapiolani Park/Waikiki Shell

Kapiolani park, Waikiki's largest park where you can see soccer games going on, BBQ's, picnics in the park, people bike riding, jogging, walking their dogs, playing music and just enjoying a walk arou

D
"Sunset on the Beach" movies on the beach

Like a "drive in" but more of a sand in your toes drive in. Every other weekend (check out sunset on the beach online) a large movie screen is put up on the beach, free live music starts the show and

E
Diamond Head

Diamond Head is an old volcanic crater definitely worth checking out. The buses can take you here, you can drive and park there or if you really feel like walking/getting a good workout you could walk

F
Duke Kahanamoku Statue and Free Nightly Hula Show

Only a 10 minute stroll from the condo along the gorgeous beach gets you to the center of waikiki where you'll find the Duke Kahanamoku (father of surfing) statue and a live web-cam where you can danc

G
International Marketplace

Like to bargain with international vendors for beautiful shell jewelry, handcrafted souvenirs and aloha shirts? This is the place to do it! There is also a great food court in the middle of it all wit

H
Ala Moana Center

The world's largest open air mall they say or is it the US's? Not sure you will find lots of designer stores here like Hermes, Tiffany, Coach, Betsey Johnson, with a few more affordable/mainstream sto

I
Royal Hawaiian Shopping Center

Shopping, Shopping and Restaurants and more Shopping! Newly remodled in 2009. Built around the pink "Royal Hawaiian" hotel, waikiki's first hotel, and home to the Cheesecake Factory, yummm, P.F. Chang

J
H-1 Freeway

From here turn left/West to head back to the Airport, to the North Shore you would take H-1 west to H-2 north and go up H-2. Turn right/East to head to Hawaii Kai, Hanauma Bay, and the beautiful drive

K
Manoa Falls Trail

Take H-1 East, exit Wilder street, turn right on Manoa Rd. and follow Manoa road until the end. You will end up at the trail head for Manoa Falls, a great easy hike to a serene though smaller waterfal

Owner's Map of Tradewinds Plaza

I love Hawaii!!! And hope you will too. I also love my condo, the location is the best part, its on Lemon Rd. which is so close to my favorite area of waikiki, where the beach is a little less crowded (and larger beach area) and where the free movies on the beach are set up on the weekends. Its also the end of waikiki with the pier where you can watch the daring boogie boarders and/or the gorgeous sunset every night and right across the street from beautiful lush Kapiolani park, perfect for an early morning stroll/jog/bike around the park and just up the street is Diamond head as well. I also try hard to maintain the appeal of my condo as a vacation home by keeping things newer, clean and working well. I actively listen to suggestions from previous tenants to make the place even greater such as recently replacing the sofa and adding artwork on the walls. I also like to paint the beautiful scenery I see in Hawaii so the artwork you will see in the condo is mine. My goal is to make a clean, comfortable setting away from home where you can still enjoy the comforts of home and enjoy Hawaii for a reasonable price. Feel free to ask me for advice on things to see and do on Oahu, I have been living there for 6 years and love playing tourguide! I am also a realtor so if you need help/info about buying/selling in Hawaii let me know! I love talking real estate! Mahalo and Aloha!
