We had an awesome time here at Amen Corner. It snowed twice which was hard to believe since it was almost 70 the week before. We hope to be back next year for more memories.

What a wonderful cabin and setting. If you were taken blindfolded to the cabin you would think you were hundreds of miles from civilization, not 10 minutes from downtown Boone. The cabin is like a five star hotel and the ammenities are awesome. There is something to do for the entire family or just sit out the large outside deck and relax. My son and I will remember this trip for the rest of our lives.

Fantastic, Beautiful, Relaxing...I could go on forever! We have been coming to Boone for over 20 years and this has been one of the most wonderful trips for our family. I have felt the peace here that our family needed to relax and reconnect. Last night, my husband and I enjoyed the views from the back deck. As I write, I am listening to my teenager and his Dad play ping-pong and the laughter is intoxicating. The teenager asked if we could come back to this exact house. (That is a MAJOR compliment). I can not thank you enough for sharing your home with us. I could write more, but the hot tub is calling my name...can you hear it?

It was a very relaxing time at Amen Corner. The cabin was so well stocked with beautiful views, games, hot tub and peace and quiet, that we were tempted to just stay there the whole week. We did drive to some local sites and it was always great to return to the porch for an evening drink and dinner on the deck. I would recommend "Amen Corner" to anyone that wants good times and good memories on their vacation.

I've often considered myself a "City Dweller" with no real enthusiasm for nature. Amen Corner has caused me to seriously reconsider my taste in both preferred environment and choice of recreation.

This was a great get together for 3 brothers and family. The house is wonderful. From the game room to the hot tub, to wine on the deck to the well stocked kitchen. It was a super great place. We will return.

This was a respite from the Florida heat for my brother, his wife and one child (who is 6'4" and 20) plus 3/4 of our family from Greensboro. There was a good 15 degree difference from the Piedmont and the cooler weather was a welcome change from this incredibly hot summer. We enjoyed each other, played ping pong and foosball and ate like pigs. The hot tub was welcome after a day of hiking and the availability of nice plastic wine glasses was exceptionally nice! The kitchen is very well stocked and all the extras have been well thought out for the guests. We had a wonderful time, made some new memories and got to relax for a few days. A very welcoming, comfortable home!

This mountain house was a "breath of fresh air" when we walked inside, very cozy and the place actually seemed nicer than the pictures depicted. The view from the back of the house is gorgeous, not only can you see the tops of many, many trees, you can also see the beautiful mountains. The gas logs add a nice touch of ambiance & it heats up very quickly. The house is laid out very nicely for both enjoyment & privacy. It has everything provided, except your toothbrush. The hot tub looks new, and relaxing & having fun in it enjoying the outdoors speaks for itself! This is the first time we've stayed at this place, but hopefully not the last. I highly recommend this place, you would not be disappointed; plus it is about a 10 minute drive to downtown Boone. It's a win-win-win.
Owner response:Thank you for your review. We appreciate your input and are pleased that you had a great experience and enjoyed all the amenities Amen Corner (and the Boone area) has to offer. We strive to make our guests comfortable and are constantly updating and adding to meet the expectations of our guests.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Your home was beautiful and very nicely decorated. Our main focus was to visit for tubing. But, I believe we enjoyed the cabin more. We are planning another trip to this area and would love to stay here again if it is available.

Stayed for 8 nights - 12/24/10 - 1/1/11. Nice house, but owner left over 1/2 dozen notes telling you what you could and could not do . Left family pictures. Regulated temperature of home so we couldn't set heat over 69 degrees. Below 10 degree temp. left childrens' rooms cold. Misleading pics. Front door opens into kitchen, Cannot use garage or drive way. You have to park in street. House next door is too close. Owners make you feel unwelcome. Will not rent again.
Owner response:We are so sorry "Gregg" and his family didn't enjoy their stay at Amen Corner. In 5 years of ownership we've never had a review like this! Regarding the notes: Since most people are not familiar with various items in the house our property manager has left notes (as they do in other managed properties) regarding light switches, a reminder to turn off the gas grill and gas fireplace, and one regarding which towels to use for the hot tub. We certainly had no intent to offend by offering these tips. Regarding the family photos, we do have one collage frame of family photos on a book shelf in the master bedroom - it is our home away from home as well, and other renters have commented they like the family touch! Our driveway is not used in the winter, because it steep and becomes slick (snow/ice). It is a great sledding spot for the kids! It is usable the balance of the year, however, it seems most guests prefer to park at street level as we have built a nice access on the main level of the house, leading to the porch and side/kitchen entry door. Other entry doors are on the front deck (view side) and the basement door at the end of the driveway. (The garage is heated and used a game/ping pong room!) Many cabins in this area have the same floor plan, with the door opening into the kitchen/dining area. It's never been a problem, and especially great for bringing in groceries, and loading and unloading cars to the main floor. Amen Corner is located on top of a hill at the end of a large quiet cul-de-sac, more like a plateau. On one side of the cabin there is one house (to the left toward the center of the cul-de-sac) and none to the right. The front of Amen Corner faces out over the valley. The only time you see our neighbor is when you drive up to the house (which is the back side of Amen Corner), or walk out on the side deck and look to your left. Once you are on the deck and/or in the house you have the feel of seclusion. Regarding the thermostat setting, we have made an adjustment which will allow our guests to set the temperature at any temperature they choose. We DO want our guests to be comfortable! Again we are extremely sorry our guests did not thoroughly enjoy their stay. We have and continue to work hard at ensuring Amen Corner is warm and welcoming to our guests.

We just came back from a long Thanksgiving weekend at this lovely home. It was well appointed, beds were comfy, PERFECT location. However... it was cold. COLD. This past weekend was very cool even for NC/November standards. The heat is locked at 69F (which is fine, but it's only one zone for the whole house!!) The basement was almost unusable - it's finished in the sense that there are walls and a great tv, etc - but it is not heated well enough to consider it "livable". There was a heater we found, but it was useless. We bought our own quartz heater on Friday to try and take even some of the chill off and it helped - but it still was not comfortable. I would hestitate to go back here in colder/winter months - all the fun kid stuff is in the basement!!! The hot tub was great. It just needs a stand alone heat source in the basement!
Owner response:Thank you for your input. We had the opportunity to spend the weekend at Amen Corner (December 4, 2010). It is 27 degrees at night and 32 during the day (and snowing). I checked the heating ducts in the basement and found them to be partially closed. However, even after opening the vents we agree the basement would be more comfortable if it had an additional heat source as it is cooler than the upper two floors. We have ordered electric baseboard heating scheduled to be installed next week. We do keep the dual fuel heat pump register at 69 degrees which keeps the upper two floors very comfortable and in fact we have had comments it becomes too warm if the register is not turned down at times. We also have gas logs in the main living room, which has its own thermostat and fan (the gas logs alone can heat the entire upper floors if preferred). Again, thank you for visiting Amen Corner. We hope you will visit again. Owners: Amen Corner log cabin

A sweet safe haven of rest for 5 ASU Alumni girls. We've been coming back for 30 years now to enjoy the mountains, friendship and a good ole football game. You provided a perfect getaway for us. The view, the space, the hot tub, the beds, tv;s i each room and wi-fi. We will return. Top notch! See you in 2011.

We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend here at Amen Corner. We were celebrating a 40th (3 couples - left kids at home) It couldn't have been more perfect - from the weather, to the beautiful deck to the well appointed kitchen and very comfy beds. The only disappointing part is we had to leave. We can't wait to return to your mountain paradise.

My husband, our daughter, her boyfriend, our son, his girlfriend and her parents stayed during the fall of '09. The cabin was beautifully appointed ... very clean and had everything you could possibly need. We enjoyed meals together at the big family table, watching movies together, and many, many hours out on the porch rocking and just taking it easy and enjoying each other's company. Even when it rained, the porch was a delight. My very favorite thing to do was to get up every morning before everyone else woke and go outside to the table with my Bible, computer (to play my favorite Christian artists at www.pandora.com), and a cup of coffee. I wish that I had a place like that to do my Bible study and have my quiet time every day! We never made it to the hot tub, although it was our intention. The kids loved it, They also enjoyed the game tables in the basement. We would love to go back again. Unfortunately, our daughter is no longer dating the man who went with her, and she doesn't want to be reminded of him. It's a real shame. That's the only reason we would not go back.
