Come enjoy 80 acres of beautiful Wyoming. The North Slope Ranch is located on the Mirror Lake Scenic Byway at the foot of the north slope of the Uinta mountains. We have two homes at the ranch from which you can choose. The "Ranch House", a newly remodeled log home, is situated amidst old log outbuildings including two century-old barns and a bunkhouse. On the other side of the pond is the "Lodge", a larger two-story home that was built in 1998 and has plenty of bedrooms to sleep a large family. Both houses face the front pond, a small creek, and a forest of cottonwood, birch and pine trees. The views from both family rooms and adjacent decks stretch across miles of hay meadows and aspen groves to the peaks of the Uinta mountains.
There is a simple beauty to enjoy at the ranch. Cottonwood Creek, which runs the length of the property, is set in groves of aspen and cottonwood trees. Take a long walk or bike ride along one of the lanes and footpaths that run through the ranch property. You will likely see sandhill cranes, moose, deer, ducks or any other of our many animal visitors. Or visit our horse and pony that live at the ranch year round. You can also enjoy swimming or canoeing in the pond. After dark, you will want to sit around the large campfire.
For more adventure drive fifteen minutes south on the Mirror Lake Highway into the heart of the Uinta mountains. The Wasatch-Cache National Forest provides a variety of opportunities for hiking, biking, rock climbing, fishing, canoeing, cross-country skiing, ATVing, and snowmobiling (rentals available nearby). Or, simply enjoy the stunning views captured on the Mirror Lake Highway as it passes over the 11,943-foot high Bald Mountain Pass.
Fall and winter are lovely times at the ranch. The fall colors up in the Uinta mountains are breathtaking. When the snow flies and the Bald Mountain Pass is closed for the season, it is hard to beat the tranquility of being on cross-country skis, snowshoes, or even a snowmobile in the high Uinta mountains. Snowmobile rentals and tours are available nearby. You can also cross-country ski and snowshoe throughout the fields and forests of the ranch, or simply enjoy the quiet solitude of the property covered in snow.
Only a five-minute drive north of the ranch is a reservoir for boating, water skiing, windsurfing and other water sports. Park City, Utah, the venue for the 2002 Winter Olympics, is less than one hour away and features world-famous downhill skiing, golfing, shopping and dining. Full service shopping and amenities are also available in nearby Evanston, Wyoming, and Kamas and Coalville, Utah.
The Ranch House, with three bedrooms and two baths, comfortably accommodates seven people. One bedroom has a queen bed, the second has one queen and one day bed, and the third has one queen bed. The Lodge, with five bedrooms and two baths, comfortably accomodates 10 people.
Crisp white linens and towels are provided. In either home, you will enjoy a large fully-stocked kitchen with spacious counters, a family-sized eating area, and adjacent dining and family rooms with views that you will not soon forget.
We are currently renovating the large 100-year-old log barn and adapting it for visitor use. The upper level has beautiful views up and down the valley from the hayloft doors. The barn is available for day use for weddings, corporate retreats, and other gatherings, both large and small. Please call for more information. |
