Owner's Profile

Owner Description

Year Purchased: 2009

My wife and I have lived 7 miles from this property since 1977. I am a clinical social worker in private practice as a psychotherapist. My wife owns and operates a dance studio for children. We have two grown sons, and a dog "Daisy," who was born 2-12-09! (Maybe we should have named her, "Abbey.)"

Why the Owner Chose New Seabury

New Seabury is a planned community. It NEVER goes out of style. Maushop Village offered us the opportunity to have a small rental to host visitors in the summer, and for us to use off season. Did you know that Maushop was a Wampanoag Indian? The story goes that he was a giant who created Nantucket, Martha's Vineyard and the Elizabeth Islands!

The Unique Benefits of this Condo

This particular property is at the end of a dead end street. There's no passing traffic, and terrific privacy, particularly on the expansive back yard. It's a 2-3 minute walk to our private beach...which can only be used by owners of Maushop properties or their guests. A 15 minute walk to the wonderful Popponesset Market Place offers visitors access to mini-golf, shops and dining both casual and sophisticated. Come to the Cape and Relax!

Wedding and Honeymoon in one fabulous place!

Date of Stay: 09/10/11 Review Submitted: 09/20/11

My husband and I were married on Maushop Village Beach on 9-10-11 and we stayed at the Cottage by the Sea for the 3rd time in 2 years. We are now officially "addicted" to this place and plan to return next year for 2 weeks! Jerry and Susan are wonderful people who go the extra 100 miles to make sure every stay is beyond perfect. This Cottage is so comfortable and charming. Having the private beach, shopping, and restaurants so close by are real bonuses. We can't imagine ever vacationing anywhere else. When we visit, we don't often leave the immediate Maushop are because it's just so nice and relaxing. We highly recommend booking the Cottage by the Sea! I can't imagine anyone being disappointed in the decision. The day we leave we actually start counting the days until we return. How's that for loving the place:) Roy and Connie Mascio Pennsylvania

Wonderful vacation spot for all ages!

My husband and I stayed here following our wedding to relax for a week. It was fabulous and more than expected! We happened to stay during a hurricane and the owners were amazing and more than accommodating leaving us candles and flashlights and even offering for us to arrive at a later date if needed. Maushop is amazing and the market has great food and is within walking distance. Our only regret is that we could not have stayed longer. It was a fabulous trip and I'm sure we will be back in the future!

Fantastic week in a charming home

Guest: Mike (Maynard, MA)
Date of Stay: 08/20/11 Review Submitted: 09/03/11

My family spent a week in this wonderful Maushop Village cottage and it was a terrific experience. The cottage was exactly as advertised and even more charming than we expected. It was also a closer walk to the beach than anticipated. This was my third trip to New Seabury and Maushop Village was my favorite spot, by far. I can't imagine a better place to spend a week than this cottage. Jerry and Susan were the perfect people to rent from. They are thoughtful, attentive, professional, organized, friendly, and they go out of their way to make you feel at home.

Well located, very clean and walk distance to a private non crowded beach. Just few miles to very good restaurants (we suggest a good french one named BLEU) and shops. We even had a welcome basket and the owner was reachable by cell phone if needed. We highly recommend this unit (the decoration inside is the CapeCod style).

Best romantic getaway

Guest: connie (Pennsylvania)
Date of Stay: 09/11/10 Review Submitted: 09/17/10

The appropriate words to describe our time at the Cottage by the Sea seem to be elusive tonight as we think about packing for our journey home to Pennsylvania tomorrow. The Cottage is such a romantic haven and the proximity to the beach is perfect. Jerry and Susan are meticulous about every detail that make staying at the Cottage perfect. We loved the flowers and the goodie basket. Since we were here off-season, we really appreciated the solitude. We have traveled extensively and enjoyed many beach and mountain retreats, but Jerry and Susan’s Cottage by the Sea has certainly become our favorite romantic getaway. We can’t wait to return… Roy and Connie Mascio Pennsylvania

Beautiful Spot by the Sea

Date of Stay: 07/17/10 Review Submitted: 08/26/10

I spent a week at the cottage in July with my wife and 2-year old daughter and we had a wonderful time. The cottage is charming and Jerry and Susan make it extra special with fresh flowers and a gift basket. The colorful beach chairs and toys they provided were also a nice touch. The private Maushop beach at your doorstep is truly a luxury. I also recommend the bar at the Popponesset Inn and the lobster roll at the Raw bar. Great way to spend a week in the summer. Cottage by the Sea...

Guest: Julie, Sylvain, Zoe & Theo (Pointe-Claire, Quebec)
Date of Stay: 07/31/10 Review Submitted: 08/19/10

Maushop Village is a beautifully maintained resort village with grey shingle cottages and crushed seashell driveways - exactly as you would imagine Cape Cod. Jerry and Susan have made the inside of their cottage just as inviting as the outside! It is also extremely well equipped (we were particularly grateful for the beach chairs and parasol as our car was fully loaded!) AND it really is a 2 minute walk along a white picket fence and sand dunes to arrive at the private village beach - PERFECT!! An ideal environment for anyone who wants to enjoy the beach or just relax by the sea. However, it is also well placed for many other activities that the Cape has to offer. We will definately be back!

Date of Stay: 07/24/10 Review Submitted: 08/04/10

My wife, 9 year old son and I stayed for a week to celebrate my nephew's wedding at the nearby Popponesset Inn. The accomodations were wonderful. Jerry and Susan's place is warm and welcoming. The location was perfect, the weather was fantastic. I'd highly recommend the "Raw Bar" in the marketplace for their Lobster Rolls. Can't say enough good things other than I wish I had two weeks. Thank you Jerry and Susan for a wonderful getaway.

New Seabury

Guest: GibsonSandy (Gibson City, Illinois)
Date of Stay: 05/02/10 Review Submitted: 05/13/10

My husband and I rented this property for the week prior to his birthday trip to Fenway! This was our first trip to Cape Cod and we enjoyed every minute. We stayed a little early in the season and a lot of the shops were only open on the weekends, but there was plenty of sightseeing done. Jerry and Susan were wonderful to work with, the property is beautifully maintained, and fully equipped with everything you might need for your stay, even providing books and maps of the surrounding areas! The Raw Bar in Maushop Village had excellent lobster rolls and Wicked Pizza in Mashpee was a great find with excellent food. Grocery stores are close. I would definitely recommend this property. It is perfectly located to explore Cape Cod as well as only being 70 minutes or so from Boston. We loved our stay there and only wish we could have stayed longer!
