Spend an afternoon gazing at the fall leaves reflected in the lake as the weather turns cool and crisp. Or spend a winters morning sipping coffee on the upper balcony and perhaps glimpse newly covered snow capped mountains on the opposite side of the lake.
Enjoy a warm evening by the fireplace in the family room, or soak in the bubbling waters of the hot tub in the outdoor courtyard.
A beautiful, light, and spacious lake house located on the pristine shore of Lake Chatuge. With the crystal waters of the lake and mountains shining from your windows, feel the tensions of your everyday life fade away.
There are several different areas of the home inside and out, to relax, read, watch T.V., spend time together, or just soak in the beauty all around. The mountains are spectacular as you look over the lake.
Dine in or out in the courtyard which is private, yet open to the beautiful mountain views. There you'll find the hottub as well, and even an outdoor cold water shower.
Waterside is located about 1/2 mile from town and faces the lake on a quiet cul de sac where the lake front stretches out and resembles a park like setting. No steep mountain roads or desolate remote areas, Waterside is easily located and a short drive (or walk) to all that this area has to offer. At Waterside you can experience the sweet old time charm of the town of Hiawassee. If you enjoy taking walks and exploring gentle lake front fields, Waterside is the place for you.
In the summer, you can even see the ferris wheel and fireworks from the GA mountian fairgrounds from the upper deck at Waterside!
Although there is no private dock with the house, there is a public ramp close by and covered parking for a boat trailer. We like to tie our boat up to the tie up rod in the lake and just swim out and boat at our leisure. Jet Skis, paddleboats and kayaks can be pulled rght up on shore. Be sure and inquire about renting our watercraft, (kayaks, peddleboat and bikes!!).
Inside Waterside, each room is decorated beautifully. On the upper level, the loft area is stocked with a foosball table, air hockey, darts, board games , Ping pong, as well a 6 foot pool table. Also upstairs is a guest room with nautical style decor and 2 twin beds with 2 tundle beds and beautiful views. The master bedroom, also on the upper level, is equipped with a jetted tub and shower, sitting area with mini fridge to stock refreshments and king bed. There is also a walkout balcony furnished with a chaise and wicker chairs to drink in the views of the lake and mountains.
On the main level is a suite that is separate with a full bathroom and cozy queen size poster bed. There are two living rooms on the main floor, one with a dining area, futon and T.V., with french doors that can close off for sleeping privacy. We call that the Red room. The other living space, the Blue room has comfy sofas, a sleep sofa, chairs, fireplace and a flat screen T.V. for all to enjoy. We call that the captains quarters, and it is open to the kitchen, so the cook never has to feel left out.
Drive, or enjoy a picturesque walk to the bustling town of Hiawassee which is less than half mile away, where you can enjoy shopping, antiquing, fine dining and more. The bavarian village of Helen, Georgia, is a mere 25 minute drive through the majestic mountains. Funworld and the Georgia Mountain Fairgrounds are a five minute drive and here at Waterside you are only a ten minute drive to the border of North Carolina. Dont forget to hike the Appalachian trai which is a ten minute drive away.
For fabulous day trips, you are about one and a half hours to the popular Great Smoky Mountain National Park, through the park to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge fun spots and two hours from Atlanta. Asheville and the fabulous Biltmore Estate are about a one and a half hour drive. Brasstown Bald, Georgia's highest mountain is close by, (a short drive up the mountain) and is great for outdoor hiking and nature enthusiasts.
There's so much to do, although you may want to just stay in the adorable town of Hiawassee and enjoy the sweetness of the local folks, shopping in the upscale shops and antique stores or dining in the many varieties of restaurants ranging from the finest to the simplest of fare. After all the fun, soak the day away in the private outdoor hot tub.
The lakefront is out your front gate, where you will find a gentle path to waters edge and the peaceful beauty of Lake Chatuge, where you may spot some of the spectacular wildlife of the lake. With it's gentle slope, you can wade, put in kayaks, explore the shoreline or even anchor your own watercraft!

I love the outdoors and sharing it with my family and friends. Waterside is the perfect place to do that. When we are there, its as if time stands still and the days are filled with beauty and relaxation. Out the door, there is so many places to explore the lakefront, or walk to town, or in the home, so many comforts, and areas to relax. We love it there and so do our guests!

It is very kid friendly, you have thought of everything. I love the stuffed deer heads in the game room-very funny. I have finally gotten a chance to tell you what a wonderful time we had at our lakeside dream! Everything was absolutely perfect. Perfect decor, perfect beds, perfect views! I could go on forever! Yes, we did have extremely cold weather with snow on the mountain tops and the wind, but we were warm and cozy the the fireplace making it so homey, with all there is to do with the game tables, and wonderful assortment of music and movies. The kitchen is well stocked, the whole setup is just great, we did not want to leave. Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful Waterside. It is so convenient to everything and I could live there in a minute.

Waterside is a delight from front to back, floor by floor, day by day. The decor is professional but quite comfortable. There are amenities galore, including a pool table, ping pong, air hockey, games, a fine hot tub, large grill and front yard swing. There are TVS and DVD-VHS players and even a place for your computer. Everything in Waterside is first class and it is obvious that a lot of care and planning has gone into the selection of every item in the house. A nice intangible benefit of staying at Waterside is the attitude of the owners, who are determined to make your stay there as pleasant as possible. We've stayed at a number of places in the Hiawassee-Young Harris-Blairsvill area and Waterside is without a doubt the best-in every respect. James M.-author
