A wonderful place to stay

Holl is a rural-feeling cottage in the heart of the city. This may seem like a contradiction but once through the gate there is an air of countryside peace about this property. The decoration and furnishings throughout are incredibly tatseful, indeed we left with some ideas for our own place! The welcome was good, the owner friendly and helpful. There were essentials in the fridge, fruit in the bowl and tempting pastries to perk us up after the journey. Holl is situated right in the heart of the city and yet away from traffic. We were able to walk to many of the attractions in town (the Settllement Museum at the end of the street is a must) and choose from a range of places to eat virtually on the doorstep. The description in the listing is accurate with one exception - the picture of the annex is a likttle misleading because in actuallity it seems to be used as an office, but this is a minor quibble. Our only slight disappointment was the very small size of the shower room and the fact that a toilet was also crammed in to the space. One final consideration; if you are taking children consider the fact that the sairs to the top level are very steep. We were slightly concerned about putting our 6 year old up there but he manged fine. Holl is a great place to stay.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers.
