Thank you for visiting our listing page! The Casita is just one of our five homes-away-from-home in Marfa. You may scroll down the page for the link to "All My Rentals" to see the others. Just click any page's calendar to see availability.
Our Marfa one-bedroom, one-bathroom separate guesthouse/casita offers privacy with its own entrance and private fenced and landscaped yard. A walk, bike (we have bikes available at your request) or short drive to town, our neighborhood is bordered on three sides by Nature Conservancy ranchland, mountains and high desert wildlife, and during droughts antelope play there and on our streets, much to the consternation of our dog.
Marfa is the world-famous home of American minimalist art at the Chinati Foundation Museum, Judd Foundation, and Donald Judd residence, with unparalleled installations of Judd, Dan Flavin, Roni Horn, and more. The town offers many galleries (including ours, inde/jacobs fine art), a first-class independent bookstore, and small-town friendliness. At 5000 feet, Marfa's weather is dry and perfect year round; even the hot summer days are balanced by magical nights.
Escape to Marfa and after your Chinati and gallery visits, enjoy the spectacular Rio Grande drive to Big Bend National Park and/or the charming Mexican border town of Ojinaga. You'll see why film director Paul Anderson chose Marfa for "There Will be Blood" (with Daniel Day-Lewis, who won the Oscar for his role), while he lived a block away from us (they rented the retreat for their baby's nanny -- big whoop :-)), and the Coen Brothers chose the town for their film of Cormac McCarthy's "No Country for Old Men" (best picture!) Not to mention that other film, with, who were they? Dean, Hudson and Taylor? Whatever! |
