  My adult children, my husband and I recently booked three "Stay Marfa" apartments (fuchcia, cobalt and violet). As it turned out, my sister and her husband had booked another (yellow) and my nephew and his family had booked one as well (orange). I guess the only apartment our family didn't have was lime. I can confidently recommend any of these apartments if you are staying in Marfa. They are clean, well equiped and comfortable. The Ikea beds have firm mattresses and are low to the ground which I appreciate. Even my husband, who has a bad hip, had no problem getting into and out of bed. Toiletries were "Kiss My Face" brand. The grocery store across the street, The GetGo, carried many of the same brands that my local co-op carries so I felt right at home when I shopped there. The coffee drinkers in our family loved the Chiapas Coffee from Big Bend Roasters, available at the GetGo. The bathroom towels were thick and thirsty. The only criticism I have has nothing to do with Stay Marfa Apartments. The criticism is that one or two trains run through Marfa each night. They blow their horns and you can hear the clickety clack of the wheels on the tracks easily in the otherwise quiet Marfa night. Some people might enjoy the sound and some might find it annoying. Our family members fell into both categories. I imagine that everyone in Marfa hears the trains as it is a tiny community.

  We could not have been more pleased with our wonderful and comfortable accommodations at the Fuchsia Door. They were spacious, clean, and nicely decorated with interesting knick knacks and original artwork. Our friends paid nearly 50% more than we did for the largest trailer at El Cosmico, and didn't have air conditioning; with the August temps in the 90s, we were so glad we did! We loved having access to a kitchen, too, for snacking or quick meals - an amenity we wouldn't have had at a regular hotel. Having wi-fi was also a huge plus for us, as we tend to be a little internet-addicted. The location was a perfect jumping-off point for everything - literally across the street from the Get Go Grocery and the Marfa Ballroom, and easy walking distance to the Pizza Foundation, Cochineal, the farmer's market, the bookstore, etc. One of the other reviewers commented on the train. After reading his review, I was concerned that it would be very loud, but although we could hear it, it didn't bother us in the least. If we are ever in Marfa again, we will absolutely stay here again!

  Flawless check-in/out system. The place has everything you could possibly need. Great decor, fully stocked kitchen--it's like a home away from home. Prime location--you can literally walk to all of the major sites in the town from the apartment. Very reasonably priced for an apartment rental. I wouldn't stay anywhere else the next time that I'm in Marfa!

  We had a marvelous time staying at the Fuchsia door rental at Stay Marfa. We usually stay at the Hotel Paisano and opted to rent this apartment when the hotel was booked for a wedding. The apartment was clean, the decor was tasteful, and the amenities were great. It is directly across the street from Ballroom Marfa and the Get Go (store), and we were a very short walk to everything important in downtown Marfa. The only suggestions I would offer for the owners is to add blinds to the front window in the living room, which currently has an AC window unit & thin curtains that are almost see-through at night when the lights were on in the living room. Fortunately there were blinds & curtains in the bedroom. Otherwise, this apartment was perfect for our needs. We spent most of our time sight-seeing, enjoying restaurants, and traveling around the area, so the apartment was mainly a launch pad & a place for us to lay our heads at night. We were very happy with the sound insulation of the apartment. There were neighbors within the small complex, and we never once heard a peep from anyone. We also really enjoyed the back patio area, which was private and partially covered from the sun. Overall, great place! We will definitely come back again.

  Wow, this place was impeccable. Fully furnished kitchen, down to the filled ice trays (definitely needed for the seven hour pilgrimage from Austin), and loads of spices (in case we got tired of eating out around Marfa, which didn't happen). Great furnishings, super-clean, everything works, and it's all terrifically chic. Awesome bed, too. Pretty spacious kitchen/dining room (with lots of chairs), suave living room, and a great little back porch that's very private, but not claustrophobic. Very close (less than 200 ft) to the best grocery store in town (The Get Go), and my favorite private gallery (Ballroom Marfa), and also very walkable (within five minutes) to Pizza Foundation, Marfa Table, Food Shark, Judd Foundation, Marfa Book Company, Tienda M, etc. -- what else do you need? All around best place I've stayed in Marfa -- (and I've house-sat at two different houses, and lived on the Chinati grounds). Thanks, Tom and Vilis!

  The location is great -- but the nearby train tracks mean you'll need earplugs if you're a light sleeper. But that's probably true of almost anyplace in Marfa. This is a clean apartment with 1 large BR/Bath combo and 1 small bath not en suite. Kitchen is well stocked with equipment. Beds are firm and linens nice. Walls are adorned with fab artwork. Owner was quick in responding to problems -- and fixed them right away. Marfa's a funky town, so plan your trip for a weekend when more galleries, restaurants and shops may (and I mean may) be open. Pizza Foundation rocks, and the Get Go is a wonderful grocer right across the street.

  Tom and Villis our stay was wonderful! Solitude is the perfect word for this little oasis. The place is self-contained and met our every need. The envirolet took a little getting use to! I loved the shower and on-demand water heater. The absolute best is the screened front porch. It is about 35 miles to the Bend Bend gate which was no big deal. The scenic views on the drive to Big Bend are great! The ranch supply store down the road is good and open from 9am-6pm. There are several good places to eat in Terlingua. The gas station has a wonderful breakfast buffet for $6.95. There is a little mexican restaurant called Chili Pepper's near the bank that is also good. Our favorite was the Starlite Theater and Bar in the Terlingua Ghost Town. The food was to die for after a 14 mile hike in the Chisos Mountains! Thanks for sharing your place!
