Nestled in a grove of aspens in one of the premier private neighborhoods, it offers a unique combination of a tranquil setting, but is just minutes from restaurants, shopping, and night life. Winter or summer, spring or fall, the Retreat at the Canyons is an exclusive, spacious choice for an executive retreat, a family vacation, or a reunion with friends. It is a 35-minute drive from the SLC Airport.
With its warm interior wood detailing and antiques, the Retreat at the Canyons combines function and luxury. Its 5500 square feet of space offers plenty of room for sharing meals, conversation, good wines, billiards, or a movie in the media room.
The Retreat at the Canyons can sleep 12-14 guests in its two master suites and four guest bedrooms, each of which has access to its own bathroom. Built on three levels, this home has unique public and private spaces. All bedrooms have televisions and Direct TV access. Noiseless radiant heat throughout maintains perfect climate control.
With its soaring two-level ceiling, the great room features a natural-stone, gas fireplace and large windows facing uphill. Two separate eating areas are contiguous to the kitchen - a breakfast alcove that seats eight and a dining area with mountain views that can seat 12. The spacious gourmet kitchen has plenty of prep space.
In addition to ski-in, ski-out* access, it is only four miles to the Park City's base lifts and five miles from the base of Deer Valley (free shuttle bus service available). In the summer, hundreds of miles of biking and hiking trails are just out the door. The Park City area boasts several championship quality public golf courses. Wasatch white-water rafting and fly fishing are world renowned. Or enjoy a leisurely hot-air balloon flight or shop in the nearby outlets or in one of the many art galleries on Main Street.
There are many exciting developments for the Winter 2010-11 season at the Canyons--including the first orange bubbled, state-of-the-art, first of its kind heated quad chair in North America. Check out the Canyons homepage for photos and more announcements.

Year Purchased: 2006
Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
Park City is the best! It's easy to get here from most major cities in the US. Once you arrive, it's only 35 minutes from the airport to our front door. (The highways are well plowed!) It is the greatest snow on earth. And we find the Canyons to have some of the most varied and interesting terrain in the area--good for skiers and snowboarders. Got people who aren't going up the mountain? No problem. There's plenty to do--shopping, movies, and other great outdoor activities. Use our snowshoes! Try tubing! Visit the Olympic Park. Or just snuggle up by the fire and watch the snow fall through our wonderful large windows.
The Unique Benefits at this House
We've got a surround sound system and projector TV in our media room. Great channels on our DirectTV, especially for sports lovers. Or watch one of our DVDs. The cooks in your group will love our kitchen--it is well stocked with pots, pans, gadgets and utensils. We supply all the paper goods! No need to run out for napkins, paper towells, or toilet paper. Like to play pool or games? We've got them available in our upstairs game loft. Oh, and you'll love the outdoor 5-person spa, too.
Owner's Map of Private Homes
Our family loves getting together for a ski vacation. Our guests--many of whom are family groups--tell us how much they enjoy being able to share large public spaces (media room, game room, great room and fully-supplied kitchen) and still have the privacy of six large bedrooms and baths. We enjoy our home year-round, but when we can't be here, we hope you will find it to be the special place that we do.

Fabulous Home!

Several families rented this home for a week and we were blown away by how nice the house is. There is plenty of space with living spaces on all levels and generous size bedrooms and baths. The kitchen was better stocked than my kitchen at home and its large size and thoughtful layout was perfect for several people to use at one time. There are thoughtful touches throughout - radiant heating, luxurious linens, beautiful antiques, comfortable and elegant furnishings, deluxe movie theatre and even humidifiers in every room. No detail was left untouched. The access to skiing was very easy. We could ski to the back door without a problem and the ski-out involved only crossing the street - perfect - no need for a car. The service provided by Peggy was great. There was a nice welcome gift waiting for us on our arrival and everything was easily explained. We cannot wait to go again!

What a great house and property. This was our first experience on VRBO. The house was everything it was suppose to be. The owners were very nice and helpful before we arrived and while we were there. We had some questions on how a few things worked and they were immediately available to help us out. The ski in was a little flat but we worked it out. When we come back to the Canyons we would like to rent it again.

A perfect powder day was icing on the cake. The description was perhaps understated-pictures don't do it justice. Billiards room, video room and hot tub exceeded expectations and were well used by our crowd. The owner was very helpful. Do get your lift tickets at Costco -great savings. There were 16 of us -age 6 months to 60. We were technically challenged when it came to XM radio and TV's. They have a good DVD collection. There are like 6 pairs of snowshoes available. Two coffeemakers. A nice gas fireplace to sit by for hours. The ski-in, ski-out setup could not be easier. The 2 fold out beds were reported to be not as comfortable as the aerobed-but no one suffered. We skied all 3 areas (Deer Valley, Park City, Canyons) -my vote is stay put at the Canyons -massive terrain is varied and perfect for the blue, black,or double black skier- a week of ski-in, ski-out at the other areas would have gotten tired. Highly recommended.

We were fortunate to stay at the Canyons Retreat home. It was beautifully furnished both inside and out, and very clean. There were more than enough sleeping accommodations for a couple of families. We had ten in our group. The hot tub was great after a long day of skiing. The entire family enjoyed the recreation room as we played cards and shot pool on a daily basis. The location was excellent, right in the Canyons Resort area. The ability to gear up in the house and ski down a path to the lift was very convenient. The return trip was a bit more difficult and challenging. The heated deck, driveway and sidewalks were fabulous. It made access very easy, and very little snow shoveling. Overall it was a great experience and we all enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. We highly recommend this home to others. * Listing was very accurate * Photos were great * Property was very clean and well maintained * Owner was most helpful * Recommend Ghidotti"s Italian Restaurant * Also recommend the Olympic Park and Museum

Two families with 7 kids ranging from 8-16 stayed for a wonderful week filled with 5 straight days of snow and excellent powder skiing and boarding at the HUGE Canyon's Resort! We felt like we had won the lottery staying in such luxury! The house is truly big enough to keep kids separate from the adults (boys downstairs in the media room, and girls upstairs in the game room) . All the amenities are there , you just need groceries- even the cooking supplies, spices , dishwashing detergent are provided! You won't be disappointed !

This home was perfect for our family and friends when we've gone to Park City in both winter and summer. It is a large and comfortable house, well represented by the listing photos. The centerpiece is a large and open floor plan with state-of-art kitchen, dining room and living room and two-story windows looking out towards the ski mountain (through which one night we saw a moose and her calf walking down the ski-in, ski-out trail). Lots to keep busy after skiing, including home theater, hot tub, pool table. Summer in Park City is great too. Perfect temperature, and mountain biking, hiking keeps you outside. Peggy has everything in order and had a ready answer for any questions. I would (and have) recommended this property to our friends.

We visited this home in January and loved it. When they call it "Luxurious" they mean it! The home is well decorated with antiques and artifacts; the kitchen is a great place to cook and feed a crowd; the beds are very comfortable, and the place has a huge theater downstairs. We really enjoyed the Canyons as well, it is very family friendly and has a great ski school. Park City is just minutes away and has great shopping and dining. I loved this place and would come back in a minute!

Great Family Gathering Spot

This property provided a warm and welcoming spot for our family. The home was large enough to accommodate private space for families as well as a wonderful gathering spot. Nicely stocked with amenities in the bedrooms, bathrooms and kitchen. The owners were helpful with information before our arrival so we could be properly prepared. While The Canyons is well known for it's skiing we would also recommend it for off season vacationing. It is a remarkably unappreciated location for summer and fall get aways - with ideal hiking, horseback riding, shopping, boating and close enough to Salt Lake City to tour the sights in the capitol city. Pleasant summer days and cool evenings are part of the package! Even though there are homes very close by this property, it was quiet and felt like we were practically alone on the mountainside.
