Arrived on April 5 to find exactly what we were hoping to find....an awesome place! Cozy, clean and comfortable. The place was perfect for our family weekend getaway. Well stocked kitchen, spacious bedrooms, comfortable living room for hanging out together. Owner was easy to contact and our deposit was returned within days of leaving the Sea Watch. Hoping that we have the opportunity again this year to get back..maybe in the fall. Thank you for having this rental available for us.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, sightseeing.

How many weeks before we can return to Sea Watch? This cottage was instantly “our beach house”, from the moment we entered back in the summer of 2005. With 180 degree view of the ocean from the upstairs deck or the back yard vista, the hardest decision for the week is where do we have our morning coffee, or evening cocktails. It is absolutely the perfect Cape Cod experience. An authentic Cape style cottage yet with all the modern amenities including a big backyard, outdoor shower, barbecue, and the constant lull of the ocean rhythm day and night. The upstairs master bedroom allows a couple privacy from the other bedrooms, with a spa inspired master bathroom. Perhaps the best part is the beach access. You literally walk out the back door, down the stairs and in 30 seconds you're on the sand. You can't beat it! It's quiet and very kid/dog friendly. The owner has always been very accessible and responsive before, during and after our vacation. Every year we comment that this “has been the best week yet”, but we know next year will bring even more memories.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+.

My family and I have stayed at Sea Watch for the past 5 years or so. We have also stayed there on the off season several times. I have never encountered a problem. It's a cottage, nothing more or less, and it's by the sea, so there are not manicured grounds and immaculate landscaping, which for us is fantastic. I've never had to turn on the A/C, there is a continual sea breeze coming in off of the ocean which works well for us, even in the end of July. The windows and house are open continuously. The owner is not nearby, and in one instance a few years ago when the dryer stopped heating up, we called her and she had a repairman there that day. She is nothing short of responsive and responsible, but only if you tell her what the problems are. We've been going to the Cape now from Syracuse for quite a few years, and have stayed other places, and would never consider anywhere else, unless we needed a bigger place. In fact, if I ever won the lottery, I'd probably buy it. as with everything else, if you try to turn it into something it's not, you'll be disappointed. If you just want to go somewhere seaside, enjoy the sounds and views and smells, you'll never be disappointed here.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

This house is SO Cape Cod, the dune grasses, the sounds of the surf from every room in the house, the amazing sunsets, the easy access to the beach below, always clean and all the amenities a family would need on vacation in the house, even a gas grill and outdoor shower. I love this place, a true Cape Cod experience and so close to all access roads for those that are there to do the tourist stuff. You won't be disappointed!!!Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I just LOVE this place! I searched and searched to find just the perfect location, perfect house, at a reasonable price - and this house fits the bill in every respect. The pictures on this website don't do the house justice. From the moment you pull into the parking spots and walk up the front stairs, you immediately get that "Cape" feel..... sea grass, beach plums adorn both the front and back yards. You enter the front door and all you see is the ocean out the back sliders. I have a picture of it as the screen saver on my phone and look at it every day. I can almost feel the cool ocean breezes and the peacefulness of the place and I long for the next August when I'll be back there again. The house itself is very typical "Cape Cod" with pine walls, updated kitchen and baths and an absolutely huge upstairs master bed & bath, window seats and a deck that spans the whole length of the house. It's where everyone in the house congregates for morning coffee/breakfast, for drinks at sunset or to just get away from it all and relax with a good book. There's also a deck off the living room with patio table, chairs, loungers, gas grill.... all surrounded by a nice sandy area in case you don't feel like walking down to the beach. Although I was surprised to see A/C units in this house, we've never once turned them on and I always rent one of the last two weeks in August -- really hot out, but cool ocean breezes blow through the house always. The house has always been spotlessly clean upon arrival -- and my occupation is a Housekeeping Director - that says a lot about this place! I always have family and friends visiting while I'm there and we've found the living area, that has 3 sofas and a dining table & chairs, more than sufficient for everyone. Extremely comfortable. The best oceanfront place ever. If you go to the beach, it only takes a minute to be back in the house to use the bathroom, get food/drinks, put kids down for naps, etc. And, if you don't feel like going to the beach, the sandy back yard makes you feel like you're at the beach and the yard is very private as it sets back further from the road than the two houses on either side of it. And, finally, the owner is extremely responsive and professional. I'd be hard pressed to ever look for a different rental home on the Cape for any reason.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I am sad to say that this was the worst vacation rental EVER! Yes, the view upon entering the home is absolutely spectacular, but that beauty ends right there. The outside is so overgrown, it looks like an abandoned house. We thought we were at the wrong house when we pulled up on the first day. The entire house was filthy (including the window screens), I cannot believe there is a cleaning service at this property. So into the bedrooms....ripped quilts, unpainted doors and broken blinds adorn each of the rooms. I almost purchased $20 quilts from Christmas Tree Shop to make our stay a bit more comfortable. The beach towels supplied were ripped and shredded, so we were happy to have brought our own. The couch covers are equally disgusting, and the living room set up is horrible. It was difficult to watch tv and sit comfortably. I can carry on and on, but I think that you get the point. It was my parents first trip to the Cape, and my husband and I were totally embarrassed about this rental property. Based on the weekly rental rate, this property owner can afford to make some much needed upgrades. Maybe a visit up to Massachusetts to check on the property is an order. If all you care about is location, well this is the place for you. Rent at your own risk.Owner response: Jen and her family rented our home for one week July 31, 2012. In the written directions and info on the home the guests are given I ask that they call me within 24 hours of arrival if they are not happy with the condition of the home.Jen did not call. I did get an email saying they had arrived and she noted that that 2 of the quilts had rips but she had brought her own linens including towels so my linens would be put aside for the week. No other comments about the yard or general cleanliness. The next day she e mailed again to tell me about some other issues so she would not be held responsible.Broken patio umbrella, a broken side table by the trash cans, grill was rusted.she wondered if it was working..(hadn't tried it)Again no mention of the yard or cleanliness. I emailed back thanking her for the feedback.I told her there was a new umbrella in the shed, The grill was new in the spring (rust happens fast when ocean front) and there were no reports of it not working. I forwarded the info to my cleaner. /property manager to be addressed on their next visit. I was very surprised to see her negative review 3 months after her vacation. Concerning the "overgrown" yard..the home is ocean front and the grass is sea grass...not normal grass like a suburb in NJ. . It can not be mowed and it is a violation of environmental rules to disturb it without permission. The home next door is the same. If she had told me in her e mail that she found the home "filthy" on arrival or even the next day in the second e mail I would have sent the cleaners back to rectify the situation.I can't address a concern if I don't know about it. She complained again about the quilts and towels though she had brought her own and did not use mine. In the past if someone didn't like the way the furniture was arranged..they move it around but I ask them to put it back as they found it on their departure. The guests prior to them and after them were returning guests of many years with no complaints.Although we come to the Cape in the spring and fall to check on the house and make changes my cleaning /property manager live nearby and are very responsive to any requests I have.

Some major issues with how this rental is managed / maintained: Beware- These are the reasons we lost $100 of our deposit- - We arrived and the 3 (small) trash barrels were completely full of the previous renters garbage. This is b/c trash pick up is on Saturday, but check out is on Sunday. This will happen to you as well. - The A/C unit on the 1st floor does not have a proper drainage system. There is a spout in the back of the unit that drains into a small bowl (in the house). On a humid day, the bowl fills in under 30 minutes. Thus, there is constant spillage and the carpeted floor around the A/C gets soaked. - The vacuum cleaner does not work well at all. I vacuumed the place top-to-bottom multiple times throughout our week long rental, but was unable to get the carpets cleaned properly. - Most screens in the windows, and the screen door out to the beach particularly, have large holes / rips so bugs get in- (and forcing you to use the A/C more frequently). Despite these flaws, we loved the house and the location is simply fantastic- I just don't think we should have lost an extra $100 of our deposit b/c of issues with the house that are out of our control. For the amount of money paid for this week long rental, it was disappointing that these issues arose and we were not refunded our full deposit because of the property is ill-managed.Recommended for: Families with young children.
Owner response: I did receive an e mail early in her week from Cassandra saying the screens were ripped. The screens were intact when we were there in the spring and I had not heard anything about the screens before Cassandra. My maintenance guy has been asked to make any necessary repairs. There was no mention of the vacuum, wet carpets or dog. Since guests arrive and leave on Sundays and garbage is picked up on Sat and Wed..there should only be the last day of garbage in the cans. 3 normal sized garbage cans. The guests after Cassandra called to say that all 3 cans were filled upon their arrival. Cassandra told me she put out garbage on Sat and only emptied the fridge and cabinets on Sun. Hard to imagine that you could fill 3 cans with the contents from the kitchen. There was no charge for the situation with the garbage..but it was inconsiderate of the following guests. There is almost always a great breeze off the ocean and the portable AC unit was intended for days of extreme heat..not constant use. The water collection dish was small. My maintenance guy has since attached a drainage hose to prevent future spills. If Cassandra had e mailed or called with this problem, it could have been addressed earlier. Instead my cleaners found a soaked carpet which Cassandra had covered with a scatter rug. They had to return home to get a shop vac to remove the water to prevent further damage to the carpet and flooring. The vacuum was working properly when we were there, no complaints from other guests and my cleaners checked it out after Cassandra left. It appeared to be working fine. My cleaners reported that Casandra left the house very dirty with lots of dog fur and piles of dog feces in the yard. We do allow guests to bring pets but we need to know if one is coming . Cassandra brought a dog without asking permission, did not pay the $100 dog fee, or pick up the feces. In spite of her complaints of how I handle my home, Cassandra expressed interest in returning next year. I declined .

We loved the house from the moment we opened the front door and saw the ocean through the back sliding doors. The house was very comfortable, well-equipped with everything we needed, There were plenty of towels for the bathrooms and the beach. There were minor problems (washing machine, grill) but the owner took care of these issues promptly. The location was good for food shopping, dining out and visiting other towns on the cape. We lounged, swam, bicycled, hiked, kayaked, whale watched and visited quaint towns. Two bedrooms are fabulous and one is small and does not have an ocean view. I highly recommend staying at this property. RobertaRecommended for: Families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.

I stayed at Nancy's oceanfront cottage the week of Aug 9, 2010 and couldn't have asked for anything better. This was the best beach cottage I've ever rented. There are three houses in a row on this part of Old Wharf Road (before you get to condos), but since Nancy's house is a slight bit closer to the street than the two on each side of it, it provides a nice, private backyard, complete with deck, patio table/umbrella/grill and a sizeable sandy area before you walk down the steps to the beach. The two downstairs bedrooms have nice separation and the one that's on the back of the house has a little sitting area so that you can look at the ocean. The upstairs master bedroom/bathroom has a deck off of it that runs the full length of the house. Everyone congregated there each morning for breakfast. Since it's oceanfront, it was always breezy. There's nothing like sleeping with all of the windows open, hearing the waves crashing as you fall asleep. From the master bedroom, I could see the ocean from the bed as I opened my eyes in the morning. I vacationed there with my two sisters who I don't get to see that often as we live in different states and I had friends from MA visit each day. The backyard was the perfect get-together place and since there are two jetties that are at the end of the houses on each side of this cottage, it was like having a private beach. Only a few families there and always sandy beach, regardless of high tide. Recommend this cottage to anyone looking for a perfect oceanfront cottage.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, families with teenagers.

My sister and I just spent 2 weeks here, and couldn't be more pleased with our experience! It was great working directly with the owner, Nancy, who answered all our questions very promptly. She thoughtfully included customer cards on the house key ring for the 2 major grostores in the area, so we were able to save quite abit. We ate most of our meals here, the kitchen is completely furnished with everything you need, the view of the ocean from the inside dining table and the table on the deck are really great. We appreciated the gas fireplace, it gets chilly in April, the washer and dryer, dishwasher and internet. This cottage is wonderfully and comfortably decorated, but not over done. Just very comfortable. The master bedroom and bath take up the entire 2nd floor and are really nice. A huge deck is off the Master Suite as is seating area for reading. The jetted tub was a luxury after a chilly day on the Cape. Another great thing is the location, centrally located on the Nantucket Sound side of the Cape, it is central to everything. There are very good restaurants in the area if you do not want to cook, and all the conveniences you need, but this cottage is away from the activity and a wonderful place to stay during your visit to the cape. Why stay in a motel or condo in a noisy area, when you can stay here, compare the price, you get so much more here and you are directly on the water, not ocean view, you are ocean front. Its just beautiful.Recommended for: Romantic getaway, families with young children, pet owners, age 55+, girls getaway, adventure seekers, families with teenagers, sightseeing.
