Herrin's Roost is nestled in the heart of the scenic Blue Ridge Mountains and within thirty miles of the Smoky Mountain range. Located on Lake Glenville, seven miles north of Cashiers on Pine Creek Road off of SR 107 North, this two bedroom, two and one-half bath cabin with a finished basement with pool table which sleeps six extra guests, sits on two acres with a scenic view of Lake Glenville.
Lake Glenville is a 1462 acre lake with twenty-six miles of shoreline. It is open to the public, provides boating, boat ramps, water skiing, canoeing, fishing, sail boating and sunbathing. Centrally located, the cabin is close to Whitewater Falls (the tallest in Eastern America), Drift Falls, Sliding Rock, Toxaway Falls, Silver Run Falls, Dry Falls, Bridal Falls, Hurricane Falls, Cullasaja Falls, Whiteside Mountain, Sapphire Valley, Highlands, and Nantahala Gorge. Also, it is one mile from Ralph Andrews County Park. Take a walk down to the water right in front of our home and do some fishing. Rent a pontoon and tour the lake to view several waterfalls, have a picnic on the pontoon or fish for some trout.
We are also within 30 miles of the entrance to the Smoky Mountains and Harrah's Casino in the Cherokee Indian Reservation. There, you can view a live play 'Unto These Hills' about the plight of the Indians. Also, you can visit Dillsboro and board the Smoky Mountain Railway (approximately 17 miles). Gem mining is very popular in Franklin. You will find a true country dining experience in Dillard, Ga. at the Dillard House. |
