Villa BellaVista is a superbly appointed, elegant, Provencal-style, holiday home with sweeping views from the Maritime Alps to Antibes. The beautiful, illuminated, swimming pool and the lovely garden with its covered terrace provide a tranquil base for enjoying a true Cote d'Azur experience. It is ideal for children and adults alike.
The villa is located within the quiet, gated, and secure estate of Les Restanques de Vaugrenier, just 15 minutes from Nice Airport and between Nice and Antibes. Both the famous Mediterranean resorts of Cannes, Antibes, Nice, and Monte Carlo and the medieval Provencal villages such as Biot, St Paul de Vence, and Eze sur Mer are within easy reach by car. The villa is a superb base for all the hugely varied activites of the Cote d'Azur. There are many excellent golf courses such as the Royal Mougins, Opio Valbonne, and Biot,facilities for water sports, shopping - everything from village markets to malls and giant supermarkets to the sophistication of the Rue d'Antibes in Cannes, entertainment such as opera, the Cannes Film Festival and the Juan-les-Pins jazz festival,fine restaurants, nightlife, museums and art galleries. Monaco and Italy are only 40 and 60km away along the A8 Autoroute.
Villa BellaVista is new, bright, and spacious. The walls are cream and the floors are of cream colour tiles. It is decorated throughout with bright lively pictures. Upstairs is a master bedroom with a king size double bed, en suite bathroom, and walk-in closet. There are two further bedrooms with twin beds, a shower room, and separate water closet. A crib is also available. All bedrooms have quiet efficient ceiling fans for the comfort of guests.
Downstairs is a fourth bedroom with twin beds, an en suite shower room, and separate water closet. The sitting room is equipped with two superbly comfortable sofas and two armchairs, plus a TV with full Sky package, access to hundreds of international channels, and a DVD player. It exits to the terrace through two sets of French doors. They both make the sitting room light and airy and enable the garden to be seen clearly.
The dining room is very elegantly furnished for eight people to dine in comfort. A high chair can also be provided if required. It opens on to the pool area.
The delightful and practical kitchen is fully equipped with a large American refrigerator dispensing ice, a ceramic hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, spin dryer, and plenty of cookware, crockery, cutlery, and glasses. It has a superb view of the Baie des Anges from the side door.
Outside the terrace has a table and eight chairs for dining al fresco while enjoying the view of Antibes. There is a large, Webster kettle barbecue to complement the outdoor living mode.
The pool, which can be illuminated at night, provides plenty of surrounding space for sun lounging. It is surround by a security fence for safety. This is removable under our guests responsibility. The spacious garden is planted with many species of Provencal flora and is amply equipped with furniture for relaxation.
There is free parking for two cars in the estate road. The villa has plenty of cupboard space and ADSL Broadband and WiFi is available for internet access. For the winter, the villa has central heating. Guests also have access to the 25-metre estate swimming pool, sun terraces, and boules court.

Lovely, well-located home but management practices are questionable

Our group of 6 stayed for a week in late May/early June 2011 and found the experience enjoyable. The house was well-located for our touring in the Cote D'Azur. We appreciated the ability to come together for dinner most every night and utilize the kitchen/dining facilities. Although we arrived separately, the initial occupants experienced some stress in equipping the house with toilet paper and other supplies for a group of 6. In the USA, these commodities are always supplied. Check-in/check-out was handled locally by a property manager although all our contact in securing the rental was directly with the owner in England. We made the manager aware of some issues regarding the hot water timers (no hot showers before dinner!) which she said she would address. Our biggest problem occurred not while occupying the home but in making our rental payments and receiving a refund of our security deposit. The owner does not utilize any form of credit card and demands payment in Euros at his French bank. This created undue expense and hassle for a couple members of our group who handled the booking. Given our experience with other VRBOs in the USA, we suggested that the owner consider the use of credit cards but were never given a good reason why he was resisting. Overall, we were satisfied with the quality and location of the house but would be hard pressed to return to it or any other property that did not take credit cards like all the rest of our accommodations did during our 3 week visit to southern Europe. I must also admit that I find it strange that a property that has been listed on VRBO since 2006 has never had a review posted on VRBO or on its own website. We rely on such reviews in planning our travel.
Owner response:We would like to thank the reviewer for his helpful comments. Although we have a standing request in our Guests Information file at the villa for reviews, we share the reviewers surprise that we have not received reviews on VRBO before. We have done on another HomeAway site, Holiday Rentals. Reviews are often promised but do not materialize. We apologize for the lack of certain items that should have been in the villa when our guests arrived and will ensure this does not happen again. It would be helpful to know what the items were as only one is specified. We will ask the villa manager to explain the water heating timers more clearly in future as it is only a matter of pressing the appropriate button for extra water to be heated and it works quickly. We will give consideration to using credit cards in the future. We had not done so before as no previous guests had raised it as an issue and bank transfers are quick and simple, especially with internet banking. The cost aspect is a bit cloudy as while bank charges are transparent on transfers, they are hidden on credit cards as they are calculated into the exchange rate used on the conversion.We prefer transparency as a challenge is then possible. Purely as advice, where an informal group of travelers is involved, having one person deal with the booking and administration is easier. We were a bit confused at first as to who we were dealing with, as emails were arriving from different people and we had to check that they pertained to the group. With families, this is rarely an issue. We are pleased to hear that otherwise our guests were happy with the villa. We are always content to offer returning guests a discount.
