Isle of Palms cottage description

YOU ARE LUCKY ENOUGH! SHIAWA-SEA, a classic, family-owned cottage with cedar shake-look siding and a sand-colored, standing-seam, metal roof is 2 blocks from the Atlantic Ocean and the perfect get-away for couples traveling together and small families(including your pet). The Cottage, in a quiet residential area, outdoor shower room with hot & cold water, which allows for year around use.

South Carolina's moderate climate allows for year around outdoor activities with beach days extending even into December. The ocean temperature begins to moderate in mid-April with 'good'ole summertime' to follow. Enjoy the lazy days of summer on 'Main Street', our wide, sandy beach, just a short walk away. In late Fall/Holiday-time and Winter, you will find the sitting area, near the gas log fireplace, to be a perfect spot to enjoy hot & cold beverages after a brisk walk/run on the beach. As the days & nights cool down, the hot tub, which is maintained at 102 degrees, is perfect for enjoying the afternoon sun and watching the sunset. Also, the outdoor firepit awaits you to roast our succulent, salty local oysters.
Year around, you will enjoy the expansive screened porch, with unique features including a hand-crafted, mahogany screen door with South Carolina's state flag logo (palmetto/moon), Pawleys Island hammock and glass block sidelights. New leaded-glass, sliding windows, in the bedrooms which have queen-size beds, allow the ocean breeze to cool the casual living space.

The open family-kitchen, as well as the bedrooms, have maple hardwood floors. The original kitchen cabinets(circa 1947) are white-painted solid wood, the countertops are classic white Formica. A cobalt blue ceramic tile backsplash, with hand-pottered, whale accent tiles, will enhance your culinary experience.

The interior walls are stuccoed, hard plaster and the glass-block windows open to capture additional breezes and enhance the cottage-style atmosphere. You will enjoy walks on the beach to the world-famous Windjammer, for burgers, tropical drinks and live music or you can take a short walk to Breach Inlet for dolphin-watching and dining at the Boathouse.

Additional features include: Ceiling fans throughout, original Bentwood furniture in the screened porch dining area and a deck with umbrella table and chairs, for al fresco dining. We are confident you will enjoy your stay with us, where we have worked, raised children and enjoyed our Island lifestyle for 30+ years.
