The spaces between the homes is very wide on Dauphin Island. Gulfview is like Gulf front in most vacation spots. We are less than 100 yards to the warm Gulf waters. "Chill Out's" location on this Gulf front cul-de-sac street means no through traffic.

"Chill Out" NEW (January 15, 2006) Four bedroom, two and a half bath Single family cottage on a large 100 by 135 lot. Open and covered Gulfside decks with beautiful views. Soundside covered decks lead to covered parking.
Owners walkway to the beach just five steps away.
Minimum stay may be required.
This terrific cottage feels like your home-away-from-home, featuring four bedrooms, two and half bath, two queen bedrooms, third bedroom has two twins and the fourth bedroom has bunk bed with trundle queen bottom. Bedrooms one through three have Gulfviews from the comfort of the bed. There are terrific views of the Gulf of Mexico from each room and outside decks. Our cottage is located on the south side/Gulfside of the island, on a single level and within steps to the beach. The decor is island modern with clean lines, Gulf inspired colors, large flat screen TV in the living room and dvd/vhs combo units in each bedroom
Dining table seats ALL 10 with counter height breakfast bar area for snacks and friends.
A charging station iPod adapter for the stereo is provided.
"Chill Out" is a non-smoking, PET FRIENDLY unit. You can enjoy many hours of sunbathing and playing on the beautiful sands of the Gulf of Mexico, or playing some sand volleyball while staying at our home. Come and enjoy the pristine white sand that we are famous for underneath your feet. There is a community pool located at the public golf course and daily and weekly privileges are available at a reasonable rate.
Take the newly paved island long bike path to the fishing pier, ice cream/pizza , seafood shops and restaurants, the marina, deep sea fishing, boat rental, small plane airport, golf course, tour the historic fort or The Estuarium or just sightseeing. Lie in the bedroom and watch the dolphins play while listening to the soothing sounds of the gulf.
No traffic, just sand, between you and the beach (means you hear the surf not the cars). No traffic jams and no traffic lights on this quaint & unknown fishing village on the Gulf of Mexico. We also offer deck and beach seating for your family plus a charcoal grill. Several delicious seafood restaurants are available along with pizza or you can always cook at home in this kitchen outfitted for the home cook by the owners who are "Food Network" producers of such TV series as "Good Eats" with Alton Brown.
Linens are provided for your convenience. A rear covered porch provides cover for bringing in bags and groceries from below the home. In nearby Mobile are varied shopping venues, a Fresh Market and other historic activities.

We have WIFI but do not guarantee wireless access to a specific setup, only when using a wired connection. If you need wireless bring your pre-configured router. A highspeed "always on" connection is provided.
- WiFi (Wireless Internet): WIFI is broadcasting in "Chill Out" but NOT guaranteed due to so many configuration possibilities. A wireless router is provided but we offer no support for wireless connections. DO NOT RESET ROUTER. CAll office if you cannot connect.
- Other Amenities
- Several beach chairs for adults and kids are provided. Please do not leave on beach overnight. Lots of folks leave them so please use and leave for next visitors. Thanks!.
- Suitability
- Pet Friendly: We love for you to bring the 4-legged family. Contact the agent for fees. Please be considerate of other owners with dogs nearby and keep your family member on a leash.
- Kid Friendly: Ready for FALL (our favorite time, Winter & Spring Break 2010 with adult/parental supervision. Check with the DI Sealab for summer programs well in advance of arrival.
- Minimum Age Limit for Renters: Contact agent.
- Smoking Not Allowed: If you must smoke please use deck and stay away from open doors or windows. My cleaning crew is allergic and will know immediately if any smoking was done in the home. THANK YOU!! Inside smoking will void refund of deposits.

Greetings vacationers! If you have found "Chill Out" or my other Dauphin Island VRBO home, "Dune House", then you have found a very rare gem on the Gulf Coast. If you come you will love it or hate it. If you need to be entertained go to Orange Beach or Panama City or you will be bored stiff. If the idea is to recapture a lost form of beach vacation then we are one of the few places where this is possible.
I wear several hats as a local licensed Dauphin Island/coastal Realtor (also licensed in Florida) and a Director of Photography for the hit series "Good Eats" on Food Network which is now in it's 13th season.
In my roles I have traveled all over the world and know this piece of paradise is very special. My wife and I hope you have an opportunity to discover the peace and tranquility we enjoy each day on "island time".
Why the Owner Chose Dauphin Island
I grew up going to the coast of South Carolina. Back then there were still dunes, local fishermen, local shrimpers and modest beach cottages. That is all in the past but when I first stepped on Dauphin Island I knew I was stepping back into a time from my childhood with a beachfront fishing village and all the laid back activities of a bygone era. The island is like an expat community in Mexico or Costa Rica but inside the USA.
I also love that pets are welcome on the beach with families who keep them leased and pick up after them. To many families the family pet is as much a part of the family as anyone else and we applaud you from not leaving them in a kennel. Both my homes accommodate pets and we welcome them.
Chill Out is ready to welcome you and both 2 and 4 legged family.

An update about our home after Gustav hit Louisiana. CHILL OUT had NO damage. Our beach home is ready for everyone who has reserved time with us. The beach is in great shape. See the external LINKS section for some current photos. The berm/dune is much flatter and there is no longer a walkover steps to navigate. The breaking surf is again clearly visible from the deck. The webcam will show this as soon as I re-activate it from "Chill Outs" deck. Thank you, everyone for your support and prayers for our piece of paradise.

Also visted from Bowling Green, KY. This was my families 1'st visit to Dauphin Island. We enjoyed the house and beach. My two daughters saw mullet and Dolphins. My wife got to relax for once. Aug-19th: I start this at the beginning of our exciting week. At least I hope it we be so...or let me rephrase that...not so much exciting as relaxing!!! A two week stay: Thank you for a wonderful stay in your brand new beach home. We loved the surf, sand and stars and found our visit peaceful and relaxing.
