Pretty stone house inside the castle of S.Apollinare, just 15 km. (9,3 miles) south of Perugia. The position is very quiet and ideal for walks in the countryside. Good taste furniture with rustic pieces. At disposal of guests a little external space with garden furniture and barbecue.
Saint Apollinare is a charming battlemented fortress enclosing two courtyards, it used to be part of a ring of castles protecting the southern side of the medieval town of Perugia.
S. Apollinare dates back to the Xth century.
In fact, the first date mentioned in historical documents is 1010, year in which the castle was partly burnt by the imperial army.
In the 13th century the Abbot controlling the Castle is forced to yield it up in return for protection to the noble Graziani family. The Grazianis lived there for over 400 years.
The Castle has always been inhabited, therefore beautifully keeping today its original structure.
The wonderful panorama of the hilly countryside reminds of the fine works of the Umbria's master painters of the 14th century. Remarkably, a fresco by Pietro Vannucci (widely known as "Il Perugino") can be admired in the church of the nearby town of Cerqueto.
The house (90 mq - about 970 square feet) is composed:
Ground floor. Living-room with dining area, fireplace and kitchen corner.
First floor. Little passage sitting-room, one double bedroom, one bedroom with heavy bunkbed (It is suitable for adult persons too), bathroom with shower.
Little external space with garden furniture, veranda and barbecue.
What to visit: Perugia 15 km (located between Rome and Florence), Assisi 40 km, Todi 25 km, Spoleto 70 km, Gubbio 60 km (every 15 May of year - Festa dei Ceri), Trasimeno lake 20 km, Eurochocolate festival (in October - in the center of Perugia), Umbria Jazz festival (in July in the center of Perugia), Rome 180 km, Florence 150 km, Pisa about 240 km, San Gimignano 145 km - On Summer in Tavernelle (only 12 km from the house) is opened the biggest Acquapark of Umbria, from Spring to Autumn on the hilltop of Perugia you could visit "Città della Domenica" with attractions for kids and zoo.

Girando questo incantevole borgo tornavo spesso a casa schiaffeggiato dal vento. Fratello foco mi scaldava e stemperava gioiosamente... Tra queste mura, d'altra età, ho ascoltato la pace vagare. Nella quiete della notte, poi, grumi di consonanti e vocali si incontravano partorendo il verbo. Parola. Voce silenziosa. Festa per l'anima affranta dalla fretta vibana. Buona vacanza a tutti. Sappiate ascoltare il silenzio.
