We recently spent 8 nights at the "little cottage in the woods" and had a great time. Milt and Mary Lou are the perfect hosts. A wonderful place to rest, relax, and refresh. We left there and spent the next week looking for, but never finding, accomodations that met what we had left in Nancy. It is a hard act to follow, that is for sure. We really enjoyed Haney's Appledale Farm, the best fried apple pies, and oh yeah the caramel apples are a must too. We also took a driving tour and had a great time locating and photographing all of the old barns in the area. Don't leave there without seeing Cumberland Falls. Thank you both for a much needed rest. Vacation Sept 2011

My wife and I stayed at the cottage Sept 2 - Sept 8, 2011. It is very nice and it is obivious Mary Lou put a lot of effort and detail making it a home away from home. For two people it is very roomy and has just about everything you could want or need. It has a nice living room area, very comfortable with satellite TV and Internet for your laptop. The kitchen is well equiped and very nice, large refrigerator, plenty of cabinets and all the tools. There is a private porch which we enjoy setting out in the evenings. It also has a large yard area and huge parking space. There is a private dock and boat ramp a very short distance from the cottage. It is a very nice community with a lot of nice homes and off the beaten path which is exactly what we were looking for. The drive off route 80 is very pleasant especially the last couple of miles where you will likely see deer close to the road. Milt and Mary Lour are wonderful host/friends and will make your stay very enjoyable. Milt suggested using Lee's Air Park and Marine Service to winterize our boat and that was a great choice. Outstanding service on very short notice, friendly, and a price well below my usual Sea Ray dealer. Consider visiting the Civil War Museum in Nancy it is well worth your time. It has an amazing collection of artifacts and displays to look at. It is very well done and far exceeded our expectations of what we thought it would be like. We consider Milt and Mary Lou are friends and feel very lucky to have found such a nice place for very little cost.

not a cottage

this is an apartment or mother in law suite. not private, patio is shared with the main house. It is in the middle of nowhere. It is a very nice little apartment but not what I wanted. There was no privacy especially when I would have had to share the patio with the owners. I do not understand the other reviews as I feel duped. If the ads opener had not said cottage and boat ramp I would not have even looked. We expected a boat ramp and lake access within walking distance. very bad for this family.

Owner response:Look at my Pictures,it is a Cottage,read the ad, it states SHARED back porch (she failed to mention the private front porch on the cottage)My ad states Boat Ramp is 1/2 mi. as well as the 88 boat slips,(also no mention of) Did she not look at map & figure out that the nearest town is 10 miles. Plenty of Privacy, this is a very unhappy Lady that could have never been pleased, a half mile walk to the lake would have been healthy for her. Look at all the good reviews and judge for yourself. We have been blessed through the years with the good people that have stayed with us and will not let 1 person taint that.

I stayed at the Rose Garden Cottage while my son was attending a summer camp in Kentucky. I found the adorable cottage just as the owners had described it. The view from the front of the cottage was majestic! The quietness of the cottage and its surroundings provided me peace to recharge. I absolutely loved my stay there. Mary Lou and Milt were more than helpful! They were excellent hosts! I enjoyed every moment of my stay at the Rose Garden Cottage. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others. It is a gem!

Such a lovely stay...peaceful, secluded, yet close to many things for the kids (ages 3 and 5) to do. We so appreciate you working with us to come a week earlier than expected. And we especially appreciate your complete and utter hospitality, kindness, and all the information you gave us as to where to go fishing, etc! It was truly a great place to stay, my husband was completely taken aback when we first arrived because he expected far less than what we received. Truly a home away from home, nice, clean, convenient, awesome views, I cannot say enough! Trace especially LOVED being unleashed and free to roam. Thank you so much, Milt and Mary Lou for everything! We hope to see you again next year, possibly later in the summer, and with a BOAT this time!! Definitely recommending to family and friends!

We had a wonderful few days in the cottage. It was very quite and had everything we needed. We really needed to get away from work and school. I am glad that my children were able to get to come down the last day. We had fun playing scrabble and cornhole. The banana trees are just awesome. My husband and son are now wanting to find some to plant at our house. We hope to be able to come visit again.

We spent over 2wks resting and relaxing at the cottage amid Roses, Kentucky Banana Trees!!! and thoroughly enjoyed it. Milt and MaryLou are outstanding hosts who will go out of their way to ensure your stay is a memorable one. The views are beautiful from the property, fishing is nearby and the Mill Spring Battlefield Tour and Museum is a must. This getaway was better than expected. We would recommend it to anyone. Perfect Lake Getaway

We recently stayed 4 nights at the Rose Garden Cottage. We were looking for an affordable, yet clean and quiet place near the lake. With a nice launch ramp, community dock, and being located only 1 mile by lake from Coney Bottom, this place was absolutely perfect! All we had to bring were our clothes, food, and laptop (since they have wireless internet service). Milt and Mary Lou were more than accomdating. We really look forward to visiting again soon.

My daughter and I had a lovely stay at the Rose Garden Cottage. Milt and Mary Lou are so welcoming and made certain that all our needs were met. They definitely have the gift of hospitality! What a wonderful vacation. We could not have asked for more. The house was wonderful, and Milt and Mary Lou were more than we could have asked for. We stayed 6 nights with 3 teenagers, who became the Brown's biggest fans. Our daughters have already started planning for next year. The Lake was beautiful, the house was great, but it was Milt and Mary Lou that made it our best vacation ever. Thank you again!

We had a lovely stay at your clean cottage, it is so peaceful, we loved the birds and butterflies! There was plenty to keep us busy when we wanted to be busy. What a FANTASTIC place! The cottage was very clean & well equiped. You feel safe,secured & very relaxed. Excellent place for boating, fishing etc. We went to the cottage for a "getaway" but left with lifelong memories, and two special friends in owners Milt& Mary Lou. Their hospitality went above & beyond! Its a pleasure to know there is a "little slice of heaven" here on earth , and you will find that in Nancy, Ky.

We stayed in the cottage for a week. It felt just like home. Very peaceful and enjoyable. Enjoyed the lake but especially enjoyed the hospitality showed us by the owners, Milt & Mary Lou. Definitely would love to return.

We had a wonderful time. The pictures on the web page do not do it justice. It is beautifully decorated. It is peaceful and relaxing. We felt like we were guests at someone's home instead of renting a cottage. The owners live on the property and made us feel very welcome. She even made homemade muffins for us that were delicious. We loved being so close to the lake and having a private ramp. It is a very friendly lake community. We have already made reservations to return in July.
