I cannot say enough about the Banana Cabana. It was as adorable and charming in person as it was in the pictures. The attention to detail in the decor was exceptional. Everything was so tidy and perfectly appointed that it truly felt like a story book cottage. I was looking for something unique in the sea of vacation rental spots, and Banana Cabana most DEFINITELY provided that. We are a family of six, and our four children range in ages from 20 to 6. This house was perfect for everyone in our family, and not once did we feel crowded or under one another's feet. Everyone had their own ample space. The yard was priceless for spending family time. This is a typical evening at Banana Cabana: My two older boys throwing the football in the beautiful, spacious yard; my two young girls taking a swim in the pristine pool area ; dad at the grill; mom relaxing with a book and wine in the beautiful sunroom overlooking the pool. We could all do our own thing but we could do it together! A yard like this is a rarity for a beach rental, and the treetop playhouse where our girls could watch a movie made it perfection! The kitchen was darling, and we enjoyed many meals at the Banana Cabana. Between the grill and the kitchen, you could eat every meal in, if you desired. Also, what a blessing to go home with clean laundry! As much as I hated to leave, it was much better knowing that I did not have to do laundry when we arrived back home. I cannot thank you enough, Chris and Jennifer, for providing such a wonderful place to enjoy our beach vacation. Of all the aspect of our vacation, Banana Cabana was at the top of the list of the things we loved. It is truly an attraction in and of itself. We enjoyed our lazy time at the house just swimming and relaxing as much as anything! However, it was wonderful to be so close to the beach, and we certainly appreciated the short walk or bike ride every morning for beach time. We also loved riding our bikes into Seaside. It was not a problem at all for our 6-year-old to make the bike trip every day into Seaside. It was fabulous to be so close to everything but to have so much privacy at the same time. We made many memories at Banana Cabana, and we will most certainly be back. I cannot count the times my girls said, "Mom, I wish we could just buy this place." :-) We all fell in love with that precious, unique beach cottage! The typical beach rental is a dime a dozen, but the Banana Cabana is in a category of its own. It is a gem!!!

We have stayed in this property twice, once with teenagers/college aged children and once with young adults. It is one of our favorite vacation rentals. We look forward to bringing our grandchildren. One note, it is helpful to know the bedroom configurations before planning to bring a group. Short walk to the beach, great screened porch, yard and small but nice pool. Something for everyone.

One point for clarification: A personal opinion pertaining to the size of a pool can be very subjective. Our kidney shaped pool is considered “Medium Sized” by the industry & for our area. The size of our pool is approx. 13' W x 24' L. (Shallow entry & ascending to a 6' depth @ the deepest point). Our pool can also be heated (for an add’l fee) if desired.

My family really enjoyed our stay at Banana Cabana. They loved the quaintness of the house and the way it was decorated. The kids loved the pool and the tree house. The weather was great the week we were there so everyone had a wonderful time. We really enjoyed the screened-in porch also and spent a lot of time out there. Everything was very clean and the beds were comfortable. Jennifer was available if there were any questions or concerns and took care of things promptly when needed. We will definitely try to stay there again in the future.

We absolutely loved our stay at the "Banana Cabana". From the minute it came into view we knew we had made the right choice. We wanted a quaint house that had the "Old Florida" feeling instead of a sterile condo experience. We loved the unique style of the cabana, charming, clean, spacious, adorable! It was decorated beautifully. We especially liked the painted white wooden floors and lovely screened in porch. Jennifer, the owner, was very nice, polite and very helpful. We definitely would rent the "Banana Cabana" again if we return to the 30-A area.

I've had my eye on Banana Cabana for three years. I could see it was a gem from day one, a perfect setting for my grandchildren to frolic, for the rest of us to relax, and for stepping back into a simpler time in this lovingly restored, circa 1940 beach cottage. Charm is too simple a word for Banana Cabana's appeal. This place is truly paradise. Everything was perfect. The decor was without peer. All was squeaky clean. Everything we needed was there and easy to find. The location was perfect and oh so private! The grounds were fastidiously kept. The pool area was an oasis and the pool was perfectly clean as was the sun porch, the decks, the gazebo, etc, all of it decorated with vintage items and whimsical eye-candy. Our almost 3 year old & 4 year old granddaughters had endless "props" and "background" for their imaginative play. Banana Cabana's listing looked like it would provide them hours of fun but never did I guess how limitless their adventures would be! The bathrooms were large and well supplied. The laundry room was SOOO awesome with a table for folding, a sink & more. (Folding clothes was a get-away in itself.) The beds were all very comfortable; ceiling fans in virtually every room. TVs galore. Awesome dining room; oh my the decor! We sat 8 at the dining room table. The kitchen was, for me at least, the star of the show! I took about ten kajillion photos of the inside of Banana Cabana & at least 1/2 were taken in the kitchen! There was something new at every turn, but BC is not "cluttered". Banana Cabana is 1940's beach cottage through and through with well balanced decor and furnishings thoughtfully arranged for the comfort of guests. We received a phone call from Jennifer within 30 min of our arrival. She was calling to inquire if all was to our liking and if we needed anything. Jennifer was awesome from start to finish. I have no doubt that if we'd had "needs" or "problems" they would have been handled quickly and thoroughly, but our stay was perfect from start to finish! We've traveled a lot, particularly out west, and have stayed in some gorgeous homes, but Banana Cabana is now ranked NUMBER ONE by my family and I cannot imagine anything topping it! Many thanks to Jennifer, owner extraordinaire!!! God willing, we'll be back!

Jennifer, please post for me my review with an Excellent rating. The Banana Cabana is in a great location and met our every need! We especially loved the pool and used it often! We also enjoyed the big yard and the "home away from home" feel and amenities! The guest apt. was a plus for my 20 yr. old who's sleep schedule was very different from ours. We would definitely recommend this place to our friends!

I was the lucky one that had my own private quarters. With our large family it was nice to say good-night and have the privacy and quietness of my own separate bedroom. I brought my "ocean" sound CD and relaxed as if I was at the beach. I slept very well there and thought the whole cottage house was extremely neat and decorated to make you feel at home and relaxed. Loved sitting with a cold drink on the screened in porch with the overhead fan blowing a cool breeze. I would highly recommend the Banana Cabana to anyone that wants the "beachy" feeling. We had a great time at your precious cottage....which lives like a large home. It had everything we needed for a fun, relaxing week. The girls loved playing games in the playhouse, all 5 of us enjoyed running around in the yard, swimming in the pool, going to the beach and cooking out. We ate every meal under the pergola. The Main House room set-ups were perfect for us, as the 2 older girls stayed in the Hula room but didn't have to share beds. The baby was in the side room off the master. The pool was a huge hit! Several days we didn't even go to the beach, we just swam. The pool also allowed us to be together while the baby napped, instead of me at home with her and everyone else off having fun. Your home was one of the cleanest we have rented thru vrbo! That is Huge in my book! One can tell how much you love this property and how well it is cared for. This would also be the perfect place to bring a set of our parents and have them stay in the guest apt. It would give us all room to be together and them the privacy (and peace away from the kids when they need it!) Thank you for sharing your piece of paradise on the Emerald Coast with us. "We plan on returning"!

We recently spent another wonderful week at "Banana Cabana", our second year in a row. The property is all that the descriptions and photos promise and more! The house, pool and grounds are well maintained and give you the feeling of home. There is plenty of space for nine people, and a number of areas to get enjoy quiet time alone. I would highly recommend it for families or groups of friends. Even though the property is not directly on the beach, it is only a short 5 minute walk to get there. This stretch of beach is lovely and much less crowded than Destin or Seaside. There are beach chairs and umbrellas for rent by the day or week. There are a number of shops and restaurants within walking distance, a bike/scooter rental a block away and a Publix Market about a five minute drive. There is a great fresh seafood store called "Goatfeathers" within walking distance. For those who want to visit the Outlet Mall, Wal-Mart, or chain restaurants the drive into Destin takes about 20 minutes. There are many wonderful restaurants. Cafe 30-A is right on the corner, Angelina's Italian Restaurant a block down, and Bruno's Pizza a block away. In Seaside, about one mile to walk or cycle (parking there is at a premium, so I wouldn't recommend driving) there are many quaint shops and restaurants (Bud and Alley's was a great lunch spot). Pompano Joe's has wonderful seafood and is right on the water a few miles away. The Back Porch is also right on the beach and has great fresh seafood (bronzed Amberjack is a personal favorite) it is located in Destin. The owners of the house, Chris and Jennifer Martin, are always very helpful. They see to it that your vacation is enjoyable and stress-free (which is what a vacation should be). The security deposit we payed was returned very quickly after our vacation's end. I would highly recommend this location to anyone!
Owner response:What a Lovely review & Thank You! I do agree that parking in Seaside can sometimes be "Tricky" (@ certain busy times of the year). But I would certainly Not discourage any of our Guests from driving there. Seaside is soooo convenient to "Banana Cabana" (We are only 1 mile East) & it is an easy bike ride or even easier drive. There are so many wonderful shops, restaurants, etc...I live here full-time & any parking "issues" one "might" experience are sporadic. FYI: There are some add'l "Hidden" parking areas behind Seaside that perhaps were not known about by our previous guests. Hope to see you @ "Banana Cabana"!!

We spent Thanksgiving weekend in Banana Cabana and absolutely loved it. It was very nicely decorated, convenient to the beach and Seaside. Kids loved the yard and the playhouse. Although we didn't use the pool, I know that would be great in warmer weather as well. Lots of great details in the home. Very cute!! We will definitely stay here again.

We Loved biking everywhere, shopping, swimming & Seaside events. We hit the Art Fair in Seaside too. Went to Destin & Panama City Beach. We swam in the pool everyday--What didn't we do? We had our 15 mo. old daughter, In-Laws & my Family all here & we truely enjoyed the atmosphere, relaxation & space this home gave us. Whether we were biking, swimming or discovering the area around us--we were all able to do our own thing & come together to enjoy the moment. We love the house, the owners: Chris & Jennifer & the town. We can't wait to come back! P.S.: Tiger followed us to the beach too--He loved our daughter!

We usually go do something everyday, however this trip we were so happy with the house, pool & beach--We relaxed here everyday! We really relaxed & enjoyed our time here. Chris, it was nice to meet you & Jennifer, Love the house! All the touches make it feel sooo warm. The painted floor is just incredable. Really enjoyed grilling out & eating here at the house. The Beach-The Pool-The Beach-The Pool! Most of our fun was centered around the Cottage. The private pool was such a bonus, particularly when the Gulf was not clear. Banana Cabana is the perfect home away from home--so roomy, comfortable, CLEAN & decorated so cleaverly. It is Precious--so many unique touches. Jennifer & Chris: Thank you for allowing us to visit! On Mother's day we fixed a beautiful breakfast on the grill gridddle in the backyard--it was perfect! The cottage was perfect for our Family's Vacation! The pool was wonderful too! My daughter (5 yrs): When we first saw Tiger he was so cute & I got to pet him & again he was so cute & I loved the artwork on the floor & the beds were soft too.

We loved our stay at Banana Cabana! The house was so spacious and clean. It was perfectly decorated and had sooo much character. I am a mother of three, ages 9, 7 and 1 year and let me tell you this place was perfect! We have stayed in hotels lots of times before but could never get comfortable because the beds are awful, the pillows are flat, and the kids are loud. So this vacation we decided to try a beach cottage for a week. This was the perfect decision, and I couldn't imagine going back to another hotel after this experience. First, we didn't have to worry about upsetting other guests because the kids were being loud, since we were the only people staying there. Second, the accomidations were so homey and comfortable! The beds were soft (and we didn't have to share a room with kids) and the pillows were just the way we like them. Third, there was so much room that the kids could all be in different areas of the house and not fight!!!! The house was also baby proof and even had a pack and play and highchair (which we didn't have room to pack with us for the trip). The pool was just the right size and we spent a lot of time in the screened in porch. We saved a lot of money cooking lunch and some dinners at the cottage too. We have been to this area of Florida several times before so we love the Seaside area. The house is in walking distance (with kids) to the beach and eating. As a mother of young children and a wife I would recommend this destination to anyone and will definitley be going back soon!!!

The house is adorable, very homey but perfectly beach-y! We really enjoyed it & are sad to be leaving! My daughter (3 & 1/2) has been complimenting your taste all week & she thinks you are pretty too! She said you are so lucky to have such a cool house!! The kids thought the playhouse was incredible & the pond & everything about the house! Thank You!

What a GREAT week! We have visited the Seaside or Seagrove area 5 times in the past 4 yrs. Your home gave us the most of the following: Privacy, Beach Access, Nice Pool, Separate Apt. & Treehouse! Even after the boys ran through the tree house & annouced that: It's a Girly Treehouse..........They Spent every available moment up there!! Your attention to detail is quite obvious! We were impressed with the intimate touches in each room. We also grilled outside with seafood from Goatfeathers. The staff there are very friendly & helpful. Thanks for sharing your 2nd home with us!

You both have a lot to br proud of here at your Banana Cabana!! Your 2nd home is beautiful & very Family Friendly. The beach accross the street was very accessable & we enjoyed it very much. We REALLY enjoyed the pool that you added to your home! Everyone swam daily!! It was a huge hit!! Your reccommendations for dining were excellent & we went to Goatfeathers & got seafood & grilled out on your BBQ pit. Very nice set-up!! John & Sam spent one night in the Tree-top Playhouse playing checkers & watching TV & staying overnight! VERY COOL!! Marge had her own apartment & LOVED it!! You totally have a beautiful home here & we will reccommend to any of our friends considering an area vacation--That they book the Banana Cabana!!

This is our 1st visit to Seagrove since 1992--What a Wonderful Surprise! Your home was perfect for our Family Vacation! The Guest Apt. worked perfect for our Parents! The pool was a Huge success....We look forward to booking in 2008! The frogs were a lot of company for my 9 yr old son!

Chris & Jennifer, We've stayed in numerous cottages over the past decade & Banana Cabana is the roomiest & Most Comfortable thus far! It was incredibly nice having a yard for the kids!
