I stayed in this apartment in January 2013. It is a charming old-fashioned apartment in a perfect location. It's not super-fancy or modern, but clean and comfortable and homey. The computer and flat screen were a plus. The best thing about the apartment is the owner Jean Charles. I've stayed in many rental apartments in Paris over the years and I have to say that he is one of the best landlords I've encountered. Very communicative and helpful. I would definitely recommend it for first-time visitors to Paris, as Jean Charles is more than happy to help you to navigate the city.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My husband and 2 children spent 3 days/nights in Paris at Charles' apartment. It was nice to have someone willing to sit down and go over maps with us as well as reccomend places to eat and visit in the area. Having a computer was nice as well. This is an apartment in an old buidling, but was comfortable and had everything we needed for our stay. It was also a great location near two metro stations.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We found the apartment very conveniently located, clean and tidy, and well equipped, including free Wi Fi and use of a computer. Jean Claude was very helpful in receiving us, and arrived quickly when we had a query on use of the equipment. A feature was the location of a number of excellent restaurants very close, and a bus stop nearby. It is only a short walk from the underground.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

Our family had a wonderful stay at this clean and well-equipped rental apartment. The neighborhood is safe and easy for train commuters. As foreign tourists, we were able to access all the services necessary and the owner was kind enough to provide very useful information (maps, guides, answers). The flat is tiny, but very convenient and clean. We did not have any small kids; so it was perfect. Those with children under 12 may find it a little challenging.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

This apartment is small but charming. It has all you need plus more - an excellent location in the 11th! The description is accurate and very clean and well taken care of. Jean Charles was there to welcome me, and answered all questions. You will be near Pere Lachaise and the Marais, and only a few steps from Rue de la Roquette with food, fruits and vegetables, bakery, tabac, restaurants, all that you need. I visited in August, when many shops are closed for vacation, but no matter. It's a very good place for one or two people to stay. I recommend it!Recommended for: Age 55+, girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This is certainly the way to travel. On previous travel, I would stay at hotels and make the area around the hotel my starting point. However, my sister traveled to Venice last year and had a wonderful experience renting an apartment. She strongly recommended I do the same. We both agree this will be how we will travel from now on. The advantage is you see the city like a local does. No flashy tourist traps (unless that is what you like- and you can go find those easily and come back!). The merchants are the neighbors too and you are treated like one. Our host had been in constant contact with us prior to our departure answering my countless question, providing maps and recommendations and encouraging us to ask anything we may be concerned with. He was there when we finally arrived at 2300h. We arrived that night using the Metro- which he strongly recommended- due to its ease of use and timeliness. He was right! Evenus weary disoriented travelers found our way simply. The apartment is in a lovely neighborhood, a block off the main avenue (Rue de la Roquette) and a 5 minute walk to the Metro Voltaire. Everything you need is within a very short walk, numerous Velib bike stations, restaurants, bakeries, wine shops, butchers, grocery stores, and a post office. The living space is in a quiet, private building. The persons you meet, going into and out of the building, are very polite. The space itself is uniquely and very charmingly decorated. With plenty of space for sleeping and eating. There are all the appliances and utencils necessary to cook if needed. However, the local restaurants are superb and very affordable. Our host provided his cell phone number in case we needed anything more or had any problems. It was very reassuring to know there was someone available if we needed help. The price of rental is very competitive as compared to a hotel stay, and the advantages are vastly more.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, families with teenagers, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

This place is fantastic. Great place and even better support by the owner. He really has things set up perfectly. We loved the maps and the time he spent with us to help us understand a city we had never been to before. It really is just as described and the location couldn't be better to get anywhere in the city as quickly as you want.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
Owner response: My apartment is the one where my parents, my sister and myself lived in in the 50's and 60's. Since then I have lived in many places and countries. When I decided to rent it I had no idea it would be so gratifying. This because people like you give back life to a space that has meaning to me.

This place was perfect for our family of four. The neighborhood has two grocery stores within an easy walk, plenty of bakeries and cafes and some nice restaurants as well. The metro line is convenient and we were able to get everywhere we wanted to go with no problems. The landlord is helpful and we had a lovely stay.Recommended for: Families with young children, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

It was the first time in Paris for myself, my spouse and our 1 year old baby. We absolutely loved the apartment. Even before we reached there, Jean had sent us all the required details including maps on how to get to the apartment. Once we got there, he was there waiting to receive us and help us with any questions. I must say he is a very organized person and you can see that in the apartment as well. Very clean, well-lit with a full kitchen and in a great location. Supermarkets and restaurants are walking distance. The apartment is a little far from tourist attractions such as Eiffel Tower or Louvre but the Metro just makes it all so easy. Our baby was very comfortable in the apartment and so were we. I would highly recommend staying at Jean's place when you are in Paris. You will love it!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

My friend and I stayed at JeanCharles Apt for 5 nights in June. It was a wonderful, family oriented location, not the usual loud tourist area. For me staying there was like coming home. The Apt is very comfortable and has everything one needs, with nearby foodshops, bakeries, and laundry service around the corner. The metro and bus are close by. JeanCharles cannot do enough to be of help. He is the most organized person I have ever met. He will answer any questions one has and then some. I would recommend this Apt to any one traveling to France who does not wish to stay in central Paris, but a quiet interesting area.Recommended for: Adventure seekers, girls getaway.

I have wanted to go to Paris all my life, and this was a particularly special first time to visit because it was my honeymoon. The apartment is in the PERFECT location - within walking distance of many attractions, restaurants and shopping. You can easily catch the bus or a Metro line to anywhere in the city. From fantastic bars to Parisian bakeries, you will stay in close proximity to everything delicious and indulgent. Grocery stores and small markets are also nearby where you can purchase incredible wines and grocery items to prepare a beautiful meal at home. The apartment is equipped with all the necessities for the kitchen, bed, bathroom and office. The next time we come back to Paris, we are definitely staying in this fantastic, affordable, Parisian home.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

We spent 3 days in Jean's apartment and we loved it, what's not to love in Paris? It was very convenient to take the metro or the bus and the neighborhood was quite and felt safe. My 2 pre-teens were amazed with all the books and very happy to use the computer. Jean was kind in welcoming us and explaining all the details about the apartment. Coming from the States, it felt a little small for the 4 of us, but we all slept comfortable and felt very cozy. There's a coin laundry around the corner and the boulangerie by the metro very handy. For sure i'll stay there again if i have the opportunity to go back to Paris.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, families with young children, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

I would stay here again. Absolutely! Very comfortable place. Listing very accurate and helpful with the exception that it is "manageable" for person in a wheelchair who can sort of walk, but not exactly "accessible". (My husband is in a wheelchair but can in fact stand to walk up stairs, but it was not really easy.) NonetheIess, the owner was very accurate about the stairs in the entryway, and neither my husband nor I would have missed this great, truly Parisian neighborhood absolutely made for exploring. We were lucky to find this listing. The other thing that was very helpful from the perspective of a wheelchair user was the floor plan, so we could see whether my husband could move from room to room, which he could. We also really appreciated the maps of the neighborhood with all the locations of the shops, buses, etc. Of course we also enjoyed the book collection when relaxing in the evenings. We had an incredibly delightful week, and the cozy apartment and its location was a major reason for that. (The owner is lovely too!)Recommended for: Adventure seekers, people with disabilities, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.
Owner response: It was a moving experience to have you in my home. I was very impressed by the spirit, willingness and energy you provided for your husband. You are a remarkable couple and accomplices in your bond of love. Yes, vrbo doesn’t offer in the list the notion “manageable”. Therefore I chose “Limited Accessibility” then added: “2 times three steps with handrails at building entrance”. But I will see if there is place, in that section to add that “use of elevator requires to be standing”. All this info is on my personal rental website on the FAQ page where one can scroll to: is the building and apartment fit for disabled people? how do we go about visiting Paris when disabled?

Thank you Jean Charles for your time and humour. With the considerable information you shared previous to the trip and on arrival, I felt as if it I had a second home in a city you helped me discover. The space and all amenities are as described. One can work or indulge in a romantic setting. This apartment is a true communication and cultural hub. WI FI, PC, Free internet and free international calls to many countries, large screen TV with international channels as well as a large collection of books and music. Bus and subways are close by and give fast access to all points in Paris. The neighbourhood is beautiful, calm and all one may need is within a minute or two distance. This is a place to experience. I am certain anyone would greatly appreciate.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.

The listing description and photos were accurate. The apartment is attractive, comfortable, clean and cozy with a totally equipped kitchen. The computer and stereo enhance the comfort. The owner was extremely helpful and delightful from the beginning to the end of our stay. We loved the location, close to several restaurants and cafes, and accessible to buses and the metro. The people in the neighborhood were friendly. We have already recommended this apartment to friends.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway.

My husband and I stayed at this wonderful apartment last November when we traveled to Paris to visti our daughter who was studying abroad. The apartment was in the 11th arrondissment and in the same neighborhood where our daughter was living. The apartment had all that we needed..comfortable European pull out beds, small kitchen area and bathroom with a stand up shower and hair dryer. The beds were very comfortable for sleeping which was so important after long days of walking the city! The apartment had a true European charm. It is an old apartment but very clean. The location was wonderful....walking distance to the Metro, cafes, local shops. It had a great neighborhood feel. The apartment was large enough that our daughter was able to stay with us for a few nights. The owner of this apartment was very helpful with us when we were looking for a place to stay that would be close to our daughter. He was also very kind and helpful with tips once we arrived in Paris. the apartment had internet service and free calling to the U.S. which was great perk! Our 7 day trip to Paris was wonderful and our living arrangement in this apartment helped make it a great trip!Recommended for: Girls getaway, tourists without a car, sightseeing.

We very much enjoyed our stay. The flat, though small, was comfortable, very well equipped and cosy - the access to phone, internet and a printer proved very convenient. We really liked the neighbourhood and enjoyed many fine meals in variety of restaurants nearby. Charles was an especially gracious and helpful host He provided us with my helpful tips and suggestions that made our brief stay in Paris lovely. Boasts a great collection of books. Four adults might find it a bit lacking in privacy but for a romantic get away for two it's charming. (Our 16 year old son was comfortable on the pull out bed in the living room but only french doors with a thin curtain separate that room from the bedroom.)Recommended for: Romantic getaway
Owner response: Thank you again for discovering this important letter from my mother among the books in the library. This is the kind of event one can only experience when sharing his own space with travellers. As mentioned previously, next time you are in Paris regardless of where, I know of an interesting happy hour place for a drink I believe we could indulge in. Yes, living in a space is a very subjective experience. Some need the space for their own. Wouldn’t we all? But would you believe I had to deny requests from families of up to 11 people? I inform potential guests that the apartment cannot accommodate more than 4 people simply because there are 2 beds available, yet some want to be alone and others hope to take advantage of the space with as many people as possible. Obviously the apartment attracts as well couples, families of 4 (or more) as well as singles. Regards privacy you have a point (although you are the first to make that statement in 14 years - most people seem to have no problem with translucent curtains which allow for a better spatial appreciation ... or avoided telling me?). It gives me the idea I should set up an easy to use system - elegant wooden blinds for instance, to be used by those who would require it. thank you for the advice.
