What is there to expect when staying as a guest by an owner - and when being an owner receiving a guest?
When feeling as if at home, as a person from the neighborhood, and for this surrounded with all the needed amenities and information, a guest is more likely to succeed in the process of taking the space in his or her own hands in a responsible involved manner.
People who enjoy being surrounded with all that may allow for a productive personal experience may possibly add to my home what they felt was some valuable moments of history – theirs but thanks to the context in which they experienced it. They logically are as well more likely to better take care of the space. It is with this in mind that I chose not to ask for a security deposit, because working with trust allows for a less impersonal sharing and for a better contribution between guests and host.
The suite is loaded with books, antiques and high tech material so that those who are not interested in such amenities and seek, for instance, the anonymous hotel style of experience, or a modern looking place, will not feel necessarily at ease. The walls being decorated with patinas so to add to the old world feel, some may interpret this as an unkempt space and may be dissatisfied when it is in fact thoroughly cleaned (three to four hours minimum) in between each visit, while others will be enchanted by the romantic surroundings.

Furnishings were very suitable- my son was fascinated with the large interesting library. We also appreciated the access to free Internet & free phone calls internationally. What a bonus!
While in Europe none of the other rentals had left such detailed information as you had for us upon our arrival about your flat, transportation, local attractions, etc. Thank you for that! About the owner: Jean Charles Dicharry, artist and bilingual writer, is early on interested in performance creation in Amsterdam. This allowed for staged interactive experiments between photography, painting and poetry with the help of mimes and dancers. Later, based in New York, he involves himself internationally with fresco and mural projects. Subsequently the then nascent world of computing offers creative investigation to multimedia virtual art, combining animation, text and sound for installation projects. Presently back in Paris, he now devotes himself mainly to writing.

My parents bought this home a few years after the second world war. My father, a French naval officer, left France during the war for England to fight the Nazi regime. My English mother was at the admiralty … and so they met. One of the rare benefits of any conflict. They settled in France where I am born. With my sister we all lived in this Parisian nest during the 50's and 60's. I then lived in Holland and the United States When I decided to rent it I had no idea it would be so gratifying. This because travellers visiting give back life to a space that has meaning to me. I know Paris better perhaps than my soul and enjoy giving to visitors who wish so a sense of its history, mystery and spirit.
