Asheville Escapes offers the most beautiful mountain vacation home, Highwoods. This luxury mountain cabin/chalet, is nestled on the side of a mountian, it sits on 10 acres, about half of which are landscaped in a garden setting with 3 spring fed ponds and 3 small waterfalls, the balance has been left in its natural state and provides a trail to the top of our ridge for exploring.
The floor plan is ideal for a romantic get-a-way, a family reunion, or a tranquil retreat for groups up to eight. Highwoods has been developed to nurture you and provide everything you could need. Just bring yourself and your suitcase! We want you to feel that this is truly "your" mountain retreat! And have done our best to create an atmosphere that will feel both intriguing and comfortable. Highwoods’ furnishings and art have been collected from around the world. You'll be ideally located for day trips to all of the many things to do in and around Asheville. When you go home at the end of the day, you'll arrive to another world. You'll love the stillness and silence, the sound of water falling, and the beauty and power of nature. You'll be filled with a sense of profound peace that many consider to be of a spiritual nature.
Sleeping arrangements (all beds have luxury mattresses you will simply melt into): The master bedroom with king size bed, located in the loft, is flanked by two full baths (his and hers), each with skylights, one has a tub complete with a lovely stained glass window, and the other a shower. There's plenty of closet space and drawers. The view from the bed, especially in the early morning hours can be spectacular. The bedroom with 2 singles (a trundle bed) is on the main floor. It is set up for children, but adults will be comfortable too. On the lower level is a small and intimate suite with a full bath, a separate bedroom (queen bed), and a small sitting area with a small TV/VCR and futon. 4th bedrm/library/office, on the main level, is a separate room with closet and another futon.
Highwoods is ideally located for all the area activities! Downtown Asheville with all it has to offer is only 20 minutes away; the Biltmore Estate & Winery is less than 30 minutes. Off to the west is Maggie Valley (abt 35 minutes) for a visit to Ghost Town In the Sky, or Thunder Ridge for a fun night of line dancing, and Cataloochee Ski Resort offering winter sports; at Dillsboro (abt 50 minutes), catch a train for the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad or go gem mining; the Cherokee Indian Reservation & Harrah's Casino is just under an hour’s drive. Due north of Highwoods is Hot Springs (a scenic 35 mile drive) named for the hot mineral springs located there, where the Appalachian Trail meets the French Broad River in a valley surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and Pisgah National Forest for great hiking, fly fishing, whitewater sports, mountain biking, horseback riding, hunting, and clay shooting. Going south is The North Carolina Arboretum (abt 35 minutes) a 434 acre site, nestled in one of the most beautiful natural settings in the United States, offers miles of trails for both hiking & biking, or glide along on a Segway®, and year round events; "River Adventures" is located just outside Rosman, NC (a little over an hour away) offers quite water self-guided trips down the French Broad River as well as fly fishing and archery, don’t miss their special guided canoe trips offered on specific dates during spring, summer and fall. There are several conveniently located entrances to the Blue Ridge Parkway – a personal favorite is to get on the parkway at Oteen (just east of the Biltmore Estate) and travel south -taking a picnic lunch or stopping off at the Pisgah Inn for a meal or snack- and continuing to the Balsam exit, from there it’s only about 35 minutes back to Highwoods, unless you should get sidetracked at Waynesville for a little shopping.
Highwoods truly is the perfect escape! |
