This large and historic home is located fourth from the beach. It is on a street only one block long with neat views of the Atlantic Ocean and Manahawkin Bay. It offers minimal traffic and has easy access to the beach.
Depending upon how the tenant wishes, the first two floors (sleeping eight) and/or the third floor "dorm" (sleeping six more) can be rented separately or together, for a large group or family. It has two and one-half baths and a pleasant large outdoor private shower, for removing beach sand, etc. This light and airy home gets wafting ocean breezes in pleasant weather. It has five strategically-located ceiling fans. If the weather turns too warm for you, it also has a new, quiet, central two zone air conditioning system.
The "big yellow house", as it has endearingly been dubbed by one of our long-time repeat tenants, features an expansive living room (with working, wood-burning fireplace), a TV with VHS/DVD player, and a pleasant dining room with a wet bar and separate wine rack, as well as a mini-fridge for soft drinks and other beverages. The kitchen, equipped with all modern appliances, has an adjoining pantry. The well-stocked kitchen includes all dishes, glasses, pots & pans, spices, etc.
On the second floor there is a queen-sized bed in the master bedroom, twin beds in the ocean-side bedroom, and two bunk beds (sleeping 4) in the third bedroom. The third-floor "dorm" has beds to sleep six (1 double & 4 twin), dressers and TV with VCR.
The back deck, located above the separate garage in the rear of the house, is ideal for a family sunrise breakfast and/or that end-of-the day cocktail hour, with ocean and bay views. It is large, equipped with a comfortable set of deck furniture, including chaise lounges, umbrella table with matching chairs, and a bar with bar stools. (There's also a small deck on the second floor front of the house, where a couple can enjoy a morning cup of coffee and a majestic sunrise over the ocean or an evening drink and a beautiful sunset over the bay.)
The home dates back to 1905--one of the earlier ones on Long Beach Island. It has been lovingly updated over the years. For example, it has a recently replaced electrical system and two 40-gallon hot water heaters, assuring plenty of hot water for all those showers.
*The garage itself is not normally available to tenants since it's used primarily by the owner for fishing gear, beach equipment, bikes, power and other sharp tools, and an array of the usual nuts & bolts, glass jars, etc.. |
