My husband and I spent two months (Feb. March)) and had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful plus from the 3rd floor you can see the ocean. Scott gives you lots of information on places to go make sure you follow his advice. There are a few things I would like to add. First if you don't want to rent a car the bus service is great and only costs $2.50 ($1 if you are 65) best of all the bus stops right outside the gate and is the first pick up so you always get a seat. The second is the Sunset Cafe which is an open air bar/restaurant right on the beach. Great sunsets and we often saw whales. It is on Farington just past McDonalds turn right by the Aloha gas station. You just need a drivers license to get in as it is on the military base. There really isn't anything you will need the condo is well equiped. Have a great time we did.

ALOHA! Sending out a big thank you to Scott, and a two thumbs up. Scott was very helpful during booking and through the 9 month wait. Scott takes the time to offer advice even outside of his condo. Condo has everything you need and then some. We packed things that of course, Scott had at the condo. The condo needs a little TLC but your getting bang for your buck. We are a family of 5, (3 kids) and the space was perfect. Loved the internet too keep in touch with those back home. Loved that we could pack the cooler, and have use of beach items that would could not bring on a plane. We kinda looked like locals!!! The grounds of the condo are amazing, and the staff and locals are very friendly. Mahalo Scott. Wishing you all the best with your future bookings.

apt was beautiful, just wish there was some thing on the first floor I have a disability, and it was very hard for me to climb all those stairs. but I would like to say thank you for all your help in my crisis. aloha Crystal

I am also glad that you mentioned the fact that there are stairs (and no elevator) to get to the unit. Obviously, this is not problem for a lot of people but for folks with a disability or those who have trouble with stairs, I agree that this could be difficult and not the best choice for a place to stay. October 21st to 28th. My stay in hawaii was super fun, and found a lot of activities that entertained my two teenage girls. I was very pleased with the condo and neighbors. When you look out the balcony at night time, you can see the mountains and a view of the sunset. The stillness and quite was amazing to experience. It was pretty neat to wake up with roosters and peacocks talking away in the early morning hours. The unit was very clean, simple, cozy, and everything I expected, especially for the price! I also appreciated the beach gear provided, stocked cupboards, towels, and lots of extra blankets. It is located in a quite gated community which made us feel very safe. The pool was another great asset for the girls as well. I will definately be back here next year in the same condo. The Makaha beach is world renowned for surfing in the winter months, so to the next visitor enjoy!

Again, amazing that guests who stayed just 2 weeks before your stay (who coincidentally were also from Alaska) could be so critical and hateful and yet your stay just 2 weeks later describes exactly what I experience each time I visit my condo. Clean, cozy, comfy, an amazing view, and overall a great place to stay. And a BARGAIN for the price! Thank you Robin for your kind words regarding the condo.

Huge Disappointment & Misrepresentation

Description inaccurate: lanai only 16-18 " in depth. no room for chair. standing only. disawasher appears to have been broken and never repaired since 4/2010 Property incredibly filthy. carpets dirty, stained thruought, torn linoleum. seals in fridge full of dirty, crumbs, garbage can filthy and debris under garbage bag; broken; under sink cabinet smells, dirty, disarray, garbage disposal smells, dishdrainer, glasses, dishes all dirty and seeminly not recent dirt but accumulation; all walls stained & dirty and some surfaces full of dust, dead bugs; Bathroom: tub very stained and had hair in in upon arrival; tub drain plug, moldy, shower caddy filthy; floor very filthy particulary in seam area where vinyl meets edging. under sink cabinet filthy and junky. dead bugs on floor in parts of dining area. whole general appearance is shabby, junky and filthy. friends stayed in same complex, same price and unit beautifully updated and immaculate. 3 emails after arrival & before departure were sent to owner complete w/pictures. no response. voice mail left for cleaning lady - no response. This absolutely ruined our stay on Oahua as we were not in a position to simply leave & find another hotel/condo. Our friends who stayed in same complex, similar unit witnessed all of the above. Absolutely no recommendation only a strong warning to stay clear of this unit and this owner. however the complex itself is very nice and very well maintained. This unit does not live up to the standards of this complex. we are most dissappointed by the lack of response from this owner. we have taken many pictures in case the owner disputes this review as it appears he has in the past. we are fairly savy & well seasoned travelers and do not expect what isn't represented. we do not expect this level of disrepair and lack of cleanliness when we travel w/in the USA Alaska Travelers

Owner response:Again, please see the many 5 star reviews (with just one other similar negative review) on my unit. Let me also say, that my unit will please 99 out of 100 travelers but there will always be that one person that you just can't please.. My unit is CUTE AND CLEAN, nicely decorated, well lit with lots of windows and natural sunlight, a beautiful full ocean view from the living area, and is completely stocked with beach chairs, umbrella's, and coolers for the beach :) A super comfortable place to relax after your days of fun in the sun. This renters review is RIDICULOUS. In fact, my fiance and I just stayed at the unit in mid September and the condo is clean and our stay was relaxing and enjoyable. I am truly sorry that these renters could not just relax and enjoy. If you are expecting a place that is all new and remodeled with granite everywhere then this is NOT the place for you. If you are expecting a cute and cozy place with full ocean view, 2 bedrooms, and sleeps up to 6 people then will probably LOVE my place. All the best, Scott

Just wanted to say thank you. We had a lovely stay at Makaha. Thank you so much. All of the gear for the kiddos was fantastic, and we could hardly drag our kids out of the pool to get them to the beach! :) We couldn't have asked for a better-stocked condo for a baby and teenagers! :) An excellent family vacation! If you're thinking of staying here, they have everything from a pack n play, baby potty, pool noodles, tennis racquets, coolers (on wheels, no less) beach mats, umbrellas, chairs, extra sandals/flip flops, towels, coffee maker, blender, tea kettle, kadima paddles. It made it SO easy to take our family of 5 and everyone had their needs met well!

Recommended for:Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway, pet owners, romantic getaway.

Recommendable appartment for longer holidays

Great place to stay

After spending a week at a great condo on the Big Island, we had huge expectations for our week in Oahu. This place as also a great place to stay. The beds were very comfortable, and the internet connection was excellent. Good thing, because we used it often to make plans for our week. The only downsides were that we were about an hour away from all the attractions in Honolulu (but so much closer to the beautiful mountains and beaches), and the dishwasher did not work. The best things about staying here were the portacrib (so we didn't have to bring our own), and the great mountain breezes. The checking-in/checkout process was very easy. I would recommend this place again.

Great location and beautiful complex

We loved being away from town, with access to unpopulated, clean beaches. The unit itself was in some disarray and in need of updating. The furniture was ripped and soiled. The carpet was stained beyond belief. With some minor renovation this unit would be exquisite.

Owner response:This review is RIDICULOUS. In fact, I have a review on my VRBO site from the guests who stayed there the week before this guest who describe it as "cute, CLEAN, & comfy". Further, I had personal friends who were just out there last week (August 8 to August 18) and when I saw this review, I expected that the unit had been trashed and I was very nervous but when I asked them about the condition of the unit and described this person's comments, they also found it RIDICULOUS. In fact, they sent me photos of the furniture and the carpet which look absolutely fine. In this guest's defense, I do know of one couch cushion which is ripped and that I plan to replace when I go there in October but as for the carpet being stained beyond belief and the unit being in disarray, I say TOTALLY RIDICULOUS!

The location is close to beaches and golf club. No problems with food stores and casual restaurants. The condo is clean and quit on the top floor with ocean view, it equipped by everything, including beach stuff. Internet connection is desirable next time. Thank you.

We just got back from Hawaii with our three young children and had a great time. The Seibel's condo in the Makaha Valley Plantation is perfect for a family or anyone looking to stay a bit outside the city for a very reasonable price. The Makaha Valley Plantation is a nice quiet area with a nice beach. It's not too "touristy," but if you're looking for "touristy," Waikiki is just under an hour away. We spent a lot of time at the Ko Olina Lagoons (best beaches on Oahu for kids) which is only 30 minutes away. Hanauma Bay and Waimea Bay are the two other beaches that we loved, both just under an hour away. But there are also many other good beaches. I would recommend this condo for anyone looking for a nice quiet place to stay on Oahu, which is a bit off the beaten track. It's also great because the condos, such as this one, are much more reasonable outside of the city. We did do a bit of driving to see the other parts of the island, but the drive to the other side of the island is less than 90 minutes. The Seibel's are also great about sending information on what to do and see in the local area and on Oahu. It was very helpful, especially when looking for a place to eat close to the condo. The pools at the Makaha Valley Plantation are also good... great for the kids. The condo is well stocked with beach toys, etc. Have fun in Hawaii!!!

The Plantation captures a small piece of paradise....and nestles it away here in the saftey and the warm these cascading mountains and glorious gifts of nature that have been so graciously given to this land that we may live in peace and harmony on in.....one with the other....I would give great praise, recognition, and thanks...To Mr Otis King, for his continued service and committment to MVP. For his patience, his understanding, sensitivity, and humility. You and truly a role model that teaches us all how to better ourselves and I am humbled before you. Thank you. For all you have shown us as a people. I would also say that the Security works hard and does a good job, under their chief..Tso.. I see alot of changes to clean up the plantation have been made over the years and I can see the difference and the changes due to their hard work.

We just returned from a wonderful trip on Oahu. We stayed in this condo and really enjoyed our stay. Even though it is a ways from alot of Oahu's attractions, it provided us exactly what we were looking for. The condo itself was very comfortable, decorated beautifully. The kitchen was very well equipped which allowed us to "eat in" for several meals. This enabled us to save some money which we used to go on a whale watching tour. We found the condo to be very close to the pool/jacuzzi, which were wonderful. The mountains surrounding Makaha Valley Plantation are so beautiful, always taking on a slightly different look, depending on the time of day/angle of the sun. Breathtaking!!! Overall, we would recommend this condo to anyone that wants to visit Oahu.

Very quiet end unit. Clean and comfortable, nothing special except the on-site contact as she was wonderful. Could have used a phone in the unit for local internet connection. Thanks. We enjoyed our stay.
