I am a very particular woman. I travel a lot for work, but decided to rent a vacation home for a family vacation. This was my first time using VRBO and I'm so glad I did. Ms. Barbara's villa is simple, elegant and very clean. It was tastefully decorated, the pool and view was gorgeous and the privacy was priceless. We used both rooms which I highly recommend for parties traveling together. In the main room (bedroom, living room, large bathroom, large walk-in closet, kitchen) was me, my husband and 8-month old and in the second room (has kitchenette, fridge, bathroom, closet & sitting area) was my mother and toddler. Both rooms has an superb view of the pool and ocean. That view is boss!! As a mother of two, I appreciated the house and pool toys. The house was in a great location to see a bunch of stuff in the area, but it's also great to just chill and have some quiet time with your thoughts and nature. Truly loved the experience. I would recommend any friend who is coming to visit Kona area to come and stay. It's exactly as pictured on site. And all the positive reviews are accurate.

This is a remarkable property if you just want to get away and enjoy the spectacular view of the ocean and sunset. Everything about the accomodations is comfortable. We didn't spend much time on the Big Island, but we'd come back and make this our "home" for a week's stay, enjoying the pool and deck more, and maybe cooking an occassional meal. The Hostess and property owner is a delight. She gave us outstanding recommendations for dining, some touristy, others, local favorites. Stay here. I don't think you'll be disappointed.

We just returned from Kona Ocean View and are already planning our trip back! The photos are exactly what you get - a great suite with a kitchen & living area + bedroom suitable for a family of 4-6 (and grandparents if the extended bedroom/washroom are booked). The unit is very clean and well appointed with everything you would need for a visit to the Big Island. The pool is amazing with an unbelievable view of the Pacific Ocean. The kitchen is well equipped and there is a BBQ on the deck. We had dinner outside every night (covered eating area) and enjoyed a slightly different sunset each night for two weeks. The internet is a very fast connection -- much faster than any hotel wifi -- for anyone with YouTube-watching kids. One great feature of her location is the elevation - we found the air to be cooler and cleaner than along Alii Drive. It was very nice to return home every night away from the noise and traffic of the busy ocean road. Finally - Barbara is a gracious host with a lot of tips for first-timers to the Big Island. She pointed us to great snorkel spots, a wonderful boat trip and even the Dolphin Quest experience in Waikoloa. We would recommend this without hesitation to anyone looking for a place to stay in Kona.

Our stay at the Ocean view villa was very relaxing. The pool was a great hit with our 4 and 7 year old, they swam everyday and actually became better swimmers over our 3 week vacation! Barabara has all the amenities for a perfect holiday, shes really thought of everything, from the pool toys to all the kitchen gagets to prepare dinner. The wild turkeys were a lovely bit of nature, along with all of the varieties of birds around the lanai. The view in the shower is something else! Thanks Barbara! we will see you again.

We have been staying here for a week now. This is my third visit here and I love it more every time! The quiet, the view, the pool, the huge lanai, the well stocked kitchen-Like usual it is too soon to go home. The beds are comfortable and there are plenty of towels for the pool. Barbara is a lovely hostess and a very gracious woman. If you don't stay here, your loss!

We are first time renters on VRBO and this place has set the bar very high for us for future rentals. We would strongly recommend this location to anyone. It is quiet, well maintained, with very nice amenities. The views from every room, including the shower, are breath taking. The infinity pool makes it seem like you are the only home between you and the ocean. It is very conveniently located yet in a residential area so you feel the peace and quiet of the area. The pool and surrounding deck are both lovely and when we weren't in the ocean, we spent a lot of time outside on the deck or in the pool. Only caveat is it isn't ideal for families with children who aren't water safe yet because of easy access to the pool from the bedrooms and main room. For us with a 10 year old who is water safe, we would stay here again in a heart beat.
Owner response:Kona Ocean View provides, on request, for the installation of a Safety Fence around the pool for young children and toddlers who are non swimmers. The owner discusses this with rental inquiries before booking.

After a 24 hour trip from the UK it was wonderful to arrive at this stunning property. It has lived up to, and beyond, our expectations. We agree with other reviews that the photos, as good as they are, don't do the property justice. It is well-equipped, clean, modern and the views are simply stunning. When not touring around we lived in the pool. The decking is large and it is a sun trap from early on in the morning through to the amazing sunsets. Barbara (the owner) is very friendly, helpful and accommodating, but also allows you your own space. We would unreservedly recommend this property and, were it not to far away, would be back very quickly. Thanks so much.

This is a heavenly and private house overlooking the ocean with it's very own infinity salt water pool ... the deck is expansive and pristine ... Much like the rest of the property, every detail has been thought of ... it is extremely well run, exceedingly clean and comfortable with everything you could need ... The decor is tasteful and simple ... Barbara, the owner is a delight ... she made us feel absolutely welcome and at home ... The bed is sumptuous, the view from every single window makes you sigh ... It's situated in a perfect location, close to everything ... although it's hard to leave this place ... The land surrounding the property is lush ... the bird watching is incredible ... We fell in love with this home and most definitely will be returning as soon as possible ... As someone who travels incessantly, finding a unique place like this is rare and an absolute gem. We couldn't have been happier!

Thank you so much for a great place to stay. We really enjoyed the veiw, the wonderful accomodations and the pool. Your Kona Ocean View Rental was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. My husband, our 2 teenagers and I really enjoyed ourselves. You were very welcoming and made us feel at ease. Your place is up high enough to catch the cooling breeze but close enough to be minutes from most everything. I highly recommend your place for a relaxing place to stay.

My wife and I ventured to Hawaii for our 15th anniversary. I must admit, I was a bit trepidatious about the whole thing. Hawaii in the summer? Being from Canada, we generally stay home in the summer to take advantage the short but sweet Canadian heat. I digress. Needless to say we had an incredible time, due in large part to the beautiful accommodations and hospitality provided by Barb at Kona Ocean View Villa. The apartment is even better than pictured. Pictures simply cannot do the 180 degree panoramic view over the pool and deck out to the ocean justice. The bed was big and comfortable, the kitchen was well equipped, the shower was hot (and solar powered), and the covered car port was handy with the jeep. The house is situated about a 5 minute drive from the amenities of Kona. Best of all the deck with built in pool and built in view were stunning! I have recommended this spot to my friends and family. Thanks again Barb!

You are a super informative and fun hostess-your home is fantastic and our "hale" could not have pleased us more. You led us down the stairs that first night into paradise - lighted Tiki Torches, sparkling lighted pool, and gread "digs", the paradise feeling never left us. Imagine seeing the pool and ocean from every room. Everything perfect. We stayed for the month of April and found time to go on a night Manta Ray dive, and see the volcano lava flowing into the ocean. Thank you so much for everything, we hope to come back next year. Aloha, What a wonderful experience. Kona Ocean View was a dream in every way. I don't think Jon and I could have picked a better place to stay! It's even better than the pictures. The view was marvelous even with the vog and we loved sitting out back sipping fresh Kona coffee and soaking in the panorama before us. Kona is a lovely town, and we're glad we discovered the Thai Rin restauant and the Country Samurai coffee shop. I even had fun replacing my broken glasses! But the best was going home and being "here" - we hardly wanted to leave! And, you are the perfect, gracious, friendly hostess. Mahalo nui loa! Aloha 'oe!

Thank you , Barbara for sharing your beautiful house with us. It goes without saying that staying in this house while visiting the Big Island enhanced our trip so much - so much so that we couldn't leave and had to stay an extra four days! You have been so accommodating and flexible allowing us to zip all over the island and come back! I sure hope we'll be back one day. So, here are our tips for future guests: Best Beaches - Kekaha Kai, Kua Bay or Manini'owali, or Mau'umae Beach which is through the Mauna Kea resort, with only ten parking places. Great Food places: Huggo's on the Rocks on Alii drive - have ribs or fish tacos, hula dancing every night around 6 Most amazing unforgettable activity: driving up to the summit of Mauna Kea. Yes, I did get altitude sickness, but adjusted to it and it was worth it to see the sunset above the clouds - then returning to the Visitor Center for star gazing - incredible..... Visiting the volcano, no new eruptions, but still hiked down into a caldera, thrilling. Best of all - allow yourselves some days to chill at the house and sip Pina Coladas at sunset - we made great ones with the blender! We will never forget this trip!!

Package B----- Thanks to my sister, Barbara, for making this the best trip to Hawaii we've ever had! The water is such an amazing blue color, and the clarity is superb, along with an incredible variety of life --and that is just the pool, the ocean is also very nice! We packed a lot of experiences into these few days - an earthquake, a hurricane, swimming with the dolphins, turtles, large Hawaiian dudes, touring the countryside, meeting old friends, drinking quarts of fine coffee and beer. Thanks to ya , Barb, Dana, and Aunt Peggy for making it all possible. Barbara, No wonder you love living in here! You and Dana have created a unique paradise for you and your guests. We loved sharing all of this during our stay. The boys will always remember learning how to snorkel in the beautiful pool before going out to the beaches....... ........Thanks for "everything" Love,

This letter is from Callan's mother and father staying in the C suite........ We had a fabulous family trip up to the observatories on Mauna Kea, a great trip on the Fair Wind to snorkel at the James Cook monument, then a 2 day trip to the Volcano National Park where we saw one wonder after another. We had the pleasure of attending a feast with outstanding food and a show one might see in Las Vegas at the Kona Village. When we slowed down enough to reflect on our visit and tried to pick our most memorable experiences, we had to keep disqualifying your beautiful apt. by saying, "Besides where we are staying we liked .........best! After 15 years of staying ocean front in Kona, we were not sure in the beginning how we would feel about being "up the hill". Would we miss the sound of the surf? The view? Well, guess what - We are coming back! We loved the more open view and could hear the surf, especially when the surf was up. Having the pool right outside our door was another plus - we have both lost weight and stayed more "toned" than we usually do here in paradise. So, Yes, we are coming back!
