Heeney cabin description
This is the perfect place to stay, even if the whole family does not share your LOVE OF THE OUTDOORS. You can spend a quiet MOUNTAIN GETAWAY in a beautiful rural setting, enjoy all the area outdoor activities, including a mountain campfire, the way you want and still be able to come 'home' to fix meals and sleep in a bed. Best of all, if you want, you can just sit on your FRONT DECK or by the gas log fireplace, relax, nap, read a book, enjoy the quiet, gaze at the awesome mountain views, watch the wildlife and soak up the down-time.
Get the family together and Getaway to a LARGE TWO BEDROOM mountain cabin in the the scenic, rural Lower Blue River valley, at the south end of the GREEN MOUNTAIN RESERVOIR. Your cabin will be just a three minute walk to the PRIVATE ACCESS to fishing at the inlet of the lake or a mile from public access to the Gold Medal Trout waters of the Blue River. Don't miss this opportunity to share this rural landscape treasured and protected by area ranchers for decades. Late spring through early fall the area offers the best in hiking, fishing, boating and hunting. Nestled between two mountain ranges, you will be only about 25 minutes from the hustle bustle of the big year-round resorts just down the road but a 'million miles away'. Trailheads for HIKING and fishing at Cataract Lake and Falls are a short 5 mile drive away. 4X4 ROADS are also closeby.
Your cabin will be SPACIOUS, cozy, CLEAN, comfortable and, with a FULL KITCHEN and all linens and utensils provided, all you need to bring is food and clothing. The Cabin is part of a duplex so, if your family has grown, don't worry, we have two of these cabins - reserve them both. The two bedroom cabins have a queen bed in the bedroom, a double and a single in the other bedroom and a hideabed sofa in the living room. The bathroom is a FULL BATH with tub and shower. A gas log fireplace and satellite tv light up the living room for evening relaxing. We built these cabins in 2000 so they are newer (more modern) than our 'original' one-bedroom cabins across the road. The front decks face a beautiful ranch meadow on the historic Knorr ranch. Often the meadow is used by grazing cattle or elk. Outside the back door of the cabin is a CHARCOAL GRILL and a short distance from the building is a large CAMPFIRE RING to gather around in the evenings.
This is the place to make FAMILY MEMORIES, ENJOY THE OUTDOORS, RELAX and feel at home with most all the modern conveniences (sorry, no land phones and only limited cell service - only ATT wireless phone service available and wifi is by satellite so large downloads and uploads are restricted).

About the owner: We met in the Denver area over 20 years ago and, after several years living in the big city we followed a dream to live in the mountains. We purchased this property which had been vacant for many years and brought it back to life. Dale has a printing career background and I have a real estate career background. We left those careers to be vacation cabin owners and have never regretted the move. Our home is nearby and we live there in the summer and fall with our dog, Guss. We often leave in the winter to visit family in the midwest. We would love to share our 'little piece of paradise' with you.
Why the Owner Chose Heeney:
Our property is only 1.5 hours drive from the Denver Metro area and sets at the inlet to the closest lake to Denver where water skiing and jet skiing are allowed on the water. It is in an area that has been popular with native Denver/Front Range families since the 50's for camping, boating and fishing. There was only a couple cabins for rent in Heeney so we had virtually no competition. The set up allowed us to live here and be active in the operations
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
We have PRIVATE ACCESS to the Green Mountain Reservoir inlet for some of the best fishing on the lake. It is only about a 3 minute walk to the water. Boat rentals are available about 6 miles away or Dale is a fishing guide if you want him to take you out on our pontoon. Or bring your own boat - we have plenty of parking and you can launch just 1/2 mile up the road at McDonald Flats public boat ramp. We have a small dock for you to tie up your boat for short term use. Quite often the elk graze in the meadow in the early evening across the road. June is the best time to see baby elk. It is an awesome and memorable sight.
