This waterfront home on Lake Sutherland near Port Angeles puts you at the footsteps of the Olympic National Park and all it’s beauty for you to hit the emerald water or hike the old growth trails. And, unlike most homes on the lake, it has a very private feel, being set back from the shore and framed with towering firs. This is a very special house with a very special setting. Checking in is a breeze, and each booking is given meticulous attention to detail.
Built by a cabinet maker, the house embraces you with the warmth of knotty pine. Imagine a twenty foot wall of windows overlooking a soaring vista of emerald water, and layered mountains. With an emphasis on intimacy, the home is well equipped with special touches in every corner to make your stay memorable in every way. In the morning, lie in bed and watch whips of fog dancing through the distant valleys in the far cliffs that form the northern boundary of the Olympic National Park. Pack light, and let your hosts provide an unforgettable getaway that offers year round reasons to book your anniversary, honeymoon, or family getaway. Spectacular Lake Crescent and Marymere Falls are just a few miles away. Take a day trip to Victoria, enjoy the nearby remarkable old growth forest trails, or simply unwind in the chalet. Late check-outs are offered on off-season weekend stays, so you can linger and lounge. Relax in the hot tub with someone you love. Dine overlooking the lake from one of the most private, romantic settings on the lake.
Off season, the lake is all yours, providing splendid solitude for writers or artists, or anyone longing simply to put up their feet and unwind. And as mentioned, lounge and linger with a late check out. During the fall, layers of yellow aspens grace the far ridges. Use of a canoe comes with the property. Occasional neighbors share access to shore.

Why the Owner Chose Port Angeles
Perfect all around location for exploring the Olympic National Park. Great house. Jaw dropping views everywhere.
The Unique Benefits at this House
This place can't be beat for: 1) Exploring Olympic National Park. The proximity is fantastic. Some of the best hikes are nearby. Spectacular waterfalls and old growth virgin forests dripping with moss and ferns (Olympic National Park holds the worlds largest temperate rain forest). 2)Enjoying an incredible view right outside your window. Our "wall of windows" looks out over a jaw-dropping vista of water and mountainscape. 3)Our attention to detail, and to bending over backwards to accommodate you. Our guest book gushes with thanks and praise. 4) All the other things to do...day trip to Victoria BC from a ferry right out of Port Angeles, river rafting the famous Elwah, fishing off the dock, or chartering out of Neah Bay...it goes on and on!
There's a great little gas/convenience store within walking distance. They even have a small kitchen with carry out service.

My husband and I vacationed for a week here. What a dream! We needed quiet, serenity, beauty, and isolation from "the world". We got it! This home is a charming, very clean, nicely decorated. Owners are artists. Their glass art and beautiful paintings decorate your surroundings. There is SO much to describe that gave us absolute peace here! The views are awesome! I woke up early each morning to sit on the deck overlooking the lake, watching the squirrels, chimpmunks, nuthatches, and jays! I believe I spent more than 50% of our stay on the deck. I walk with a cane and am disabled but was still able to use the stairs slowly to the water front, 5 times! Furniture was very comfortable, everything u need is provided. PLEASE pack light! Madi has provided soaps, lotions, plush towels and blankets everywhere, shampoo, body wash! I can't say enough of the beauty inside and out!! Also, the whole home is in best condition, everything is spotlessly clean! Dictionary definition of Idyllic? Maid and Randy's Chalet! We WILL be back!

One of the best VRBO's ever. Everything was as described, but better. The location & views are truly breathtaking. Sitting in the hot tub, looking out on the lake, seeing a bald eagle swoop down... and the weather was magnificent. Day trips to Victoria, Sequim, Hurricane Ridge & Sol Duc. But just sitting on the dock was the most relaxing thing. Eat at Granny's up the road, and pet the cat with 6 toes & the dwarf goats. How much better could it be?

We were celebrating my husband's 60th birthday, and what a treat it was staying at this gorgeous home! Our mouths dropped open when we set foot on the property. There are so many little touches and details, like supplying binoculars to watch the bald eagles skimming the lake in search of fish. My husband loved paddling out in the canoe every morning. We both loved sitting in the hot tub after spending the day hiking in the nearby trails. Wish we could've spent more time there.

Every July, Chris and I find a cabin to spend his birthday and our summer vacation. The Chalet on Lake Sutherland was by far our absolute favorite. We spent 7 days enjoying every aspect of the property. We fished, canoed, floated on the water rafts, took naps in the hammock, enjoyed the hot tub, grilled amazing dinners and gazed at the stars at night. We enjoyed watching the eagles, kingfishers, otter, fish, ducks, deer, double-crested cormorant and one evening a northern pygmy owl! The Chalet itself is so beautiful...you can definitely feel the love that has been poured into this fantastic get-away spot. We originally planned on doing a few day hikes but never wanted to leave. The Lake Chalet had everything at our fingertips for a perfect, relaxing vacation. Thank you Randy and Madi.

What a spectacular piece of heaven. We came in very late, so my first view was awakening in the morning to the view of the lake. Breathtakingly beautiful, serene, peaceful, soul filling. Thank you for the attention to detail. So welcoming.
Owner response:I know how taxing travel can be, and there's nothing you want more than to just arrive. When I know someone is getting in late, my silent consolation is that they will wake up to a view that will knock their socks off.

Randy and Madi's Lake Sutherland vacation home is absolutely amazing - as good as it looks in the photos, if not even better, and the description above is spot on. The house is lakefront on a large property - the views are breathtaking, the hot tub is great after a long day exploring the Olympic National Park or Port Angeles (which is only 15mins drive away). If you do chose to stay here (and you REALLY should), be sure to grab a breakfast or lunch at nearby "Grannie's Cafe" for a very enjoyable meal. Thanks again, Randy and Madi, for making our vacation a great one!! We will certainly be back!

Hello Randy and Madi, Bill and I are home in NY and finally have a moment to reflect on our Olympic Peninsula vacation and our stay at your chalet. Not only did we feel at home but found it was an excellent starting point for our hikes. Marymere Falls, Sol Duc and Hurricane Ridge were phenomenal sights. We traveled north to visit tide pools near Salt Creek, west to the mossy Hoh Rainforest and another day to Second Beach to see the stacks- all lots of fun. I loved Butchart Gardens and the Native American Exhibit at the museum. Crescent Lodge was a highlight for our final evening's sunset dinner. Sequim's Lavender Festival was a delightful stop on the way to the ferry. We had an active stay interspersed with sunny but cool relaxing days and beautiful evenings at the chalet. Thanks so much for sharing your lovely home. It was a top-notch vacation! Best regards, Marilyn Gray P.S. One afternoon we did see a bald eagle soaring above the lake. A loon provided daily entertainment drying its wings on the log close to the dock.

We were looking for a place for a romantic weekend getaway and found the Lake Dream Chalet. We went to stay over Labor Day Weekend and the cabin exceeded our expectations. The cabin is BEAUTIFUL and maintained immaculately. There are many details that made the place feel like home (scented sprays, candles, artwork, a welcome bottle of wine, a kitchen stocked w/condiments & coffee, etc.) There are multiple places to relax both indoors and outdoors with a full view of the lake. The cabin is located near two other houses, but because of the dense tree coverage on both sides it felt very private. The owners were very gracious and did an excellent job anticipating our needs. The property is close to Port Angeles so we were able to pick up supplies on the way to the cabin without needing to pack a full cooler...very convenient. We plan to return again next year and bring our boat to take advantage of the dock and beautiful lake. The lake traffic was surprisingly low for the holiday weekend so this would be a great place to enjoy watersports or have a relaxing weekend hanging out in the hammock in the trees...oh and the hot tub was great too! Thank you Randy and Madi for the amazing stay!

Waking up each of our way-to-short three days to an incredible lake and mountain view was both relaxing and inspiring (I liked the wide selection of music also!) My wife appreciated all the small touches, the flowers, the rocks, etc. Thank you for sharing your Dream Chalet with us. We hope to return.

I have never seen so many stars as I have here above the emerald lake. I love the mountains which rise from the water. Attention to detail, inside and out, makes this a great house. Everything is ready to go. This is the most relaxed I have been in years and I dread returning to the rush of Seattle.
