Built in 2002, this beautiful log cabin is perfect for a retreat, family time, or romance. Wake up to fresh mountain air with birds singing. Revel in the changes of the seasons and gaze at the starry display at night. Leave feeling younger, rejuvenated, and relaxed.

We've taken much care to provide a cozy and joyful retreat for our guests. With the inviting hardwood floors, the warmth of the logs, and comfortable furnishings, you will feel welcome here. Drift peacefully to sleep in the plush queen size bed. Whip up a gourmet meal in the well-equipped kitchen. Enjoy the privacy and sun-dappled woodland views. Let the kids roam and explore in a safe, secure environment.

We are constantly updating the cabin and have added a new deck and satellite tv! Broadband internet has been added for 2009!

We are just 10 minutes away from quaint downtown Black Mountain where you can shop for local crafts and antiques, listen to live music, and enjoy excellent choices of restaurants. We are close to Montreat, Chimney Rock, Lake Lure, and local conference centers. Just 20 miles away is eclectic Asheville, hosting the Biltmore House, Gardens, and Winery as well as museums, nature centers, and the Grove Park Inn.

  • We loved the cabin and will stay again next year. Far enough from Black Mt. to be secluded but relatively easy to get back to town. In perfect condition, with all amenities (including DSL) and very clean. Nice owners!

  • My wife and I were looking for some much needed peace and relaxation and we were not disappointed with this cabin. The cabin was great,very cozy,and well equipped with everything we needed. From the back deck we enjoyed the sounds of the many birds chirping and the rustling of the colorful fallen leaves in the breeze. Though the cabin is located away from the city life, many attractions and great restaurants are just a few miles away. We will be back to visit this great cabin and its fine host again soon. Thanks!

  • My husband and I were looking for a quiet fall get-a-way and found it at High Rock. The cabin was so cozy and clean. The Tanners were wonderful host. This was our first visit to Black Mountain,,,, boy were we impressed. My husband & I would love to relocate and / or vacation more often.   • The cabin is quaint, clean and cozy, perfect for a couple getting away for a weekend. The new back deck is divine; it's a lovely place to settle in with a good book and a cup of coffee, listening to the wildlife scurry through the woods. We took a nice hike through the neighborhood and discovered some lovely vistas. Black Mountain (the town) is charming. Try eating at the Black Mountain Bistro for amazing salads and sandwiches; check out the local coffee shop - The Dripolator - for an excellent latte and dessert. We will definitely rent from Mary Beth and Buck again. The cabin is well-furnished and comfortable.

  • My family spent two nights in the cabin during May '08 and thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The cabin was the perfect retreat in the woods that we needed to "get it away from it all" for a weekend. We loved the guest guidebook in the cabin that Buck & Mary Beth had prepared, and used it to check out some of the local sites and restaurants in Black Mountain and Montreat. Our three-year-old son loved playing on the fort at Buck and Mary Beth's home, as well as on the creek just down from the house. We have recommended the cabin to lots of our friends and would love to return to the cabin for another stay ourselves.

  • Our daughter, who lives in Jacksonville, FL & her dog Katy joined us for wonderful wknd at this great cabin. The cabin was very clean & cozy. The kitchen was very well equipped. Our only regret was that we didn't get to spend more time actually at the cabin. It was a great wknd. Hope next time we can stay longer.
