The owner was the greatest host - met us at the airport, available for any questions. The house was clean, in good condition, spacious, all amenities one would need, plus lots of personal touches by the owner. Perhaps the only downside for us -- and this is definitely a personal preference -- Kakaha is not as central as we might have liked. Great for exploring Waimea Canyon, but a long drive to places on the east side. We spent a second week on the east side and found it more central for our interests and would probably rent closer to that side next time.

This wooden cottage is really very hot in summer : sleep becomes difficult. No air conditioning. The area is not rich... This house is far from every thing except the Grand canyon of Pacific. But the owner is a very nice guy.

From the moment we got to the property, we knew we were going to enjoy every minute of it. The gas grill was used almost every night, while we sipped margaritas in the back yard and played their Premium Scrabble! (we're avid scrabble players) The private back yard was a real treat, but then the kitchen...totally stocked with everything we needed, never had to do without an appliance or a utensil; now that is hard to find in a rental property. That sentiment continued...every time we thought 'would be nice if we had...' and there it was. Washer, dryer, all the beach equipment (chairs, backpack to put stuff in, on and on). We were so impressed. Beds were comfortable and generally the place was quite and away from any touristy bussle, which is what we specifically wanted. The beach was so close we could walk over to it in minutes, and could count the number of people sharing the beach at any time on one hand. The property owner, was so accomodating and easy going. He was very concerned about making sure our stay was as pleasant as possible, and we got that in spades. If you are looking for a Hawaii experience away from the crowds, but still have what you need to get by day to day, then this place is what you are looking for. This place was a true value, you're dollar goes a long way with this cottage. Aloha!

Great place. We were quite pleased how nice this house is. The yard is awesome, with a very nice lawn and a covered outdoor dining/BBQ area. Plus, the outdoor shower has hot water! I'll miss those. We felt very at home in this place, very friendly neighbors. Nice short walk to a fantastic beach! I would stay here again.

We loved the bright clean airy space, had a great time, this end of the island is just a hope, skip and jump from several great beaches, but our kids even begged us to just spend one day lounging around the house! Great place to stay and get your mind off all your worries, this place has just about everything! We loved the out door shower, it was a real treat! Highly recommend it and we'll be back if we can!

We were wowed. So clean, so cozy and so well stocked (toiletries, dvds, cooking spices...). It was as though we were staying in a friend's house. It's pretty far west, in a quiet and peaceful neighborhood. Even the roosters were respectful! It feels remote, but it's only 3 miles from Waimea, where we could stock up on groceries and supplies. The bed in the master bedroom was possibly the most comfortable bed we've ever slept in. There was a relaxing outdoor area with a fantastic barbeque grill. We can't think of a negative thing to say! We miss it already!!!!
