We spent the past weekend in the Bamboo Cottage and absolutely loved it. We were visiting family in New Bern. The location of the cottage was great- only minutes from downtown New Bern, and very easy to find. Missy was very accommodating and kind, and it is obvious she and Nick have put a lot of love and work into maintaining this rental. The price was very reasonable. We paid the same price as others did for one room in a hotel that weekend. The pictures do not do this cottage justice! It is adorably decorated, spotless with all the amenities and beautiful wood floors. The front porch swing and rocking chairs are perfect for relaxing, the beds are comfy, and the layout is great. It is so clean and kid friendly. We did not need to do much childproofing for our 13 month old twins. All in all, a great find! I highly recommend staying here.

Charming cottage

The first sight are the gorgeous floors. I stayed for a month during an unexpected heat wave during May and June and was comfortable even when the air conditioner shut down for a few hours one day (rolling blackouts) There are ceiling fans in living room, dining room, kitchen, and both bedrooms so I was always comfortable. The owners were very quick to respond... even when I forgot trash day...they collected it all and took it away for me. I thoroughly enjoyed my stay, though being there 4 weeks meant I would have enjoyed a larger TV, but I survived. My 3G worked brilliantly there. The cottage is literally minutes from downtown New Bern and a couple minutes more to the major shopping. I was visiting family and house hunting. Bamboo Cottage was the perfect location to visit Havelock and explore the surrounding area. I appreciate the hospitality and good humor of the owners. It made my stay a delight.

We really enjoy the Banboo Cottage, gave my son -that is in the Marines- a relax feeling just like he was at home. It is quiet, nice, clean and with everything we needed to make our stay enjoyable. We recomend for any family that would like to have a home away from home. Glenn & Julia

If you are looking for a place to stay in the area, look no further! We have stayed at the BAMBOO COTTAGE multiple times & have been delighted. It has everything you need, including a washer and dryer. The kitchen makes it very easy to prepare a meal ... and the porch swing is highly recommended to sip your morning coffee =) Lastly, the owners were very accomodating in giving us access to the propery since were arrived after hours. Again, if you looking for a place in the area ... look no further!

Thanks so much for sharing the "Bamboo Cottage" with us...what a charming, cozy, way to spend our time in the New Bern area. We were able to shop, dine, and visit area landmarks knowing that at the end of the day we could return to relax in a warm and homey atmosphere. We highly recommend the Baker's Square in historic New Bern. Their clam chowder is wonderful and if you're looking for a fun day trip - Ft. Macon is great. Thank you again for your hospitality!

What a great cottage and town. We used this as a weekend get-away for a mother and her three daughters. We enjoyed the convenience of a house and amenities. The town of New Bern is quaint and beautiful. There were enough shops to keep us all happy. The Palace houses and gardens were a treat. And don't forget to visit Aurora for the fossil museum and fossils. Hint - go to the PCS parking lot on 306 - look in the dirt piles around the lot. We collected 100 shark's teeth in 2 hours. We were so fortunate to be able to rent this wonderful cottage the weekend of the MS bike ride in New Bern. The ride was great and the cottage was perfect to come back and relax in. With everyone complaining about lodging problems for the weekend, we almost felt guilty to have this place to ourselves. Hope to be back this time next year and make it a tradiition. Everything was beautiful and very accomodating!

Melissa, When I decided to take my mom on a tour of New Bern for a long weekend, I feared it might be impossible to find a decent, reasonable place to stay. Since it was a last minute decision you never know what will be available. I turned to vrbo . com as always, and your place popped up. It's not very easy to find a 2 bdrm, 2 bath without paying a fortune. This cottage feels like home!! It is so much bigger than you might think from the pictures and what beautiful floors! The curtains in the bedrooms and bath are simple yet gorgeous! The hooks with the gold clips holding the curtains on the rods add such decor. You've worked very hard to make this cottage feel like home. We love it!!

It has been two weeks that we have been here at the Bamboo Ctg. We have been in this area before, but really had an opportunity to explore the area for a longer period of time. We loved it the first time and love it even more now! We are kayakers - and this is the place to be!! We explored new places to paddle almost every day, it is an amazing area. New Bern is a fun place to walk and explore. The historic houses, the Farmer's Market, Union Point Park Concerts, so much to do. Bamboo Cottage is the perfect home base, emphasis on "HOME". We were so impressed with the cleanliness, the comfort, even the neighbors! I'm sad to leave this place, it has grown on me. So, thank you, Missy, Nick & Zak. You have put so much into this cottage. We'll never forget this spot, this time.

What a wonderful cottage! We were so surprised with the homey feeling and amenities that accompanied the house. We will be back again and again!! As you know our 3 day vacation turned into 5. We really wished we had more days but alas the real world has to infiltrate. The privacy afforded by staying here was a welcome retreat from a typical hotel. We relished just lazing around and knowing that if we wanted to be around others, New Bern was just around the corner. Thanks again for your hospitality and we will surely tell others. Karen and Al

Nick and Missy, We've stayed in many places through our travels but none have been as charming as this one! When we both walked through the door our breath was literally "taken away". If I were to own a beach house, I would use this as a model. Not only is the decorating perfect, it adds to the relaxing atmosphere we found here. Best wishes on your personal and business ventures!

We have enjoyed our stay at the "Bamboo Cottage". Everything was nice and clean when we arrived. Missy, Nick and Zak are very nice and have worked hard to make everything comfortable. We enjoyed having 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. We have 4 grandchildren here in New Bern and it was nice to have them visit one at a time for good quality time. We are already looking forward to our return visit next year.

Hello all returning guests and potential guests. What a great surprise to find this cottage, "BAMBOO COTTAGE", for sale just down the road! We have completely renovated this home including new kitchen cabinets, countertops, appliances, tile bathroom, etc. It was completed and ready for guests in November 2006. We have had very positive feedback from our guests and all who have seen it. Those of you, who have visited our other cottages, will find the same quality, cozy decor, and cleanliness at "BAMBOO COTTAGE". And the same amenities including use of a canoe, kayak, and Sunfish. But this cottage will offer a smaller, less expensive home base for those smaller families and couples. Hope you enjoy it!
