Imagine being 4 levels up, nestled in Costa Rica’s spectacular, pristine canopy. Welcome to Jungle Roost! Enjoy your morning coffee on the wraparound deck watching monkeys foraging and making their way across the treetops.
This 2,500 ft2 home has 3 bedrooms and 2 ½ bathrooms, and is fully and comfortably furnished. It has floor to ceiling windows with unobstructed views designed to bring the outside into the open and welcoming interior. The architectural design of this unique home includes numerous sliding glass doors that open to allow breezes through all 3 floors and bedrooms. Sliding screens and ceiling fans keep A/C use to a minimum.
The ground level has ample parking for your SUV, a laundry room equipped with washer and dryer, and a surf board should you be so inclined. The main level includes a spacious great room, fully-equipped kitchen with breakfast bar/island, deck surrounding the living area, and two piece bathroom.
Walk up one level to the expansive master bedroom with queen size bed, sliding doors to the wraparound deck, and massive windows for unobstructed views of the canopy wildlife. This level also has a full bathroom with a glass block, walk-in shower.
Walk up another level to the fourth floor where there are two lovely bedrooms with queen size beds, a full bathroom with a glass block, walk-in shower. Both bedrooms have floor to ceiling sliding glass doors on two walls providing access to the wraparound deck where there is a large outdoor chesterfield for quiet reading or naps. Don’t be surprised if a monkey (or 10!) sneaks past. Stay still and they will just amble by looking to jump from the balcony to the nearest tree. You will be tempted to feed them but please refrain – there is plenty of healthy food in the jungle.
The nearby beach is gorgeous and quiet. If you are in the mood for more people, funky bars, good restaurants, surf schools, groceries parasailing and fun shopping, just stroll 15 or 20 minutes along the white sand to Manuel Antonio.

Jungle Roost is a Manuel Antonio jewel! I have traveled all over Costa Rica five times. For my sixth trip I decided to stay in one location for a week with my entire family and rent a house. I chose Manuel Antonio because I fell in love with its beauty and energy the first time I was there. I’d been twice on previous trips but never more than a couple of days each time and always knew it would be the place I would return for a longer visit. We were a family of six with kids ages 23, 17, 16, and 9. We all had a wonderful, magical stay in Heather’s jungle home. The house is modern, spacious, perfectly appointed, and very comfortable. We (mom and dad) stayed in the second floor bedroom and the four kids occupied the two bedrooms on the third floor. Heather was a wonderful hostess who made sure all our needs were met and answered all of our questions throughout our entire visit. By car, the house is a close three or four minutes off the main road in Manuel Antonio toward beach and very close to shopping, restaurants, and the popular Manuel Antonio National Park. The house is set in a thick jungle forest and surrounded by jungle wild life including birds, geckos, monkeys, and sloths. We were charmed every morning and some evenings by the white faced monkeys that swung through the trees and sometimes onto the deck. We woke up each day to one or two sloths in different trees but somehow never actually saw them leaving the trees! The beach is a five minute walk down a very steep winding road. The beaches in Manuel Antonio, including the beach closest to Jungle Roost, are spectacularly beautiful. There are no words in the English language that do justice to its splendor. Our visit was magical and we would definitely stay in Heather’s house again. Jungle Roost is a wonderful home in a beautiful part of the world.Recommended for: Pet owners, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, age 55+, girls getaway.

Our family of 5 stayed at the Jungle Roost for one week during a tour of Costa Rica in Feb '12. The house is airy, roomy and modern. The beach (and it is a fantastic beach!) is a 10-15 minute walk down (with kids ages 11, 9 and 5) and the main road is a 10-15 minute walk up (relatively steep). The kitchen in the house was a bit spartanly appointed during the time of our stay, we would have appreciated a few more basic items like aluminum foil, cooking pans, spices, etc. The owner had been advised that these items are not desired by renters so their absence is more a function of inopportune rental guidance than oversight. During our stay the stove ran out of gas and we had to play a role in replacing the gas cylinder, our expense was completely reimbursed. Two items worthy of note for families with young children who may want to stay at the VRBO. First, the stairs linking all three floors has a tall railing and almost no side protection, it can be a bit hairy to watch young kids ascend and descend the steps. Second, the rooms have large glass doors & windows, a delight to see the jungle; however it is nearly impossible to darken these rooms for the morning sun so be aware that kids may awaken early with the sun coming into the rooms. During our stay the local guide book the owner had prepared was not available, this was a disappointment although never a serious hardship. We did ask the owner to consider making the guidebook into a digital version that could be forwarded to renters. These issues aside, the property owner is perhaps the most responsive and flexible owner we have ever worked with in renting a VRBO. She went out of her way to help us settle in and even helped us find a babysitter. She is very knowledgable about the surrounding area and was genuinely interested in helping us have a positive and enjoyable experience at the property.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, girls getaway.
