WELCOMING - Comfortable - 1 or 2 BR apartments, centrally located in the Black Hills but within easy distance of Rapid City services and activities.

Ideal for vacationers: Make day trips south to Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, and Custer State Park, or north to Deadwood, Sturgis, and Spearfish Canyon--even Devil's Tower, Wyoming--or east to the Badlands.

Located on the upper reaches of Rapid Creek and overlooked by wooded bluffs, Johnson Siding is only 4 1/2 miles from U.S. Route 385, the main north-south route through the Black Hills, 30 miles south of the Deadwood/Lead area, 22 miles from Hill City, and 32 miles north of the Mt. Rushmore Memorial, yet it is only 11 miles from the restaurants and shopping services of Rapid City’s west side.

FISHING/HUNTING? Turkey hunters find this a great location in both spring and fall. Good deer hunting in fall, and plenty of fishing in the local lakes and streams.

WORKING LOCALLY, BUILDING A HOME, or RELOCATING? Our pleasant furnished apartments are available short- or long-term at reasonable rates (see below).

The apartments are a very generous size, laid out on one or two floors, with living room/dining room, kitchen, and 1-½ baths. One bedroom in each unit has a queen bed, with additional twin bed(s), futon(s), and rollaway beds available. Furniture includes sofa and recliner, dining table, and TV (cable provided) with DVD player. Linens, housewares, etc., are new in 2006-07. Pay washers and dryers in building.

Nearby, the well-stocked Johnson Siding General Store has good coffee, wi-fi access, a deli (delicious sandwiches, pizza, cold-cuts, etc.), and a gas station. The friendly Rimrock Happy Tavern welcomes visitors.

These are no-smoking apartments. Pets negotiable.

    • Chris and I actually own the General Store and deli next to Cliff View at Johnson Siding. This past winter was brutal to say the least and this was the first winter Chris and I could not make it back to Rapid City where our house is during several blizzards. Tony and Gail were very gracious in offering us a place to crash so we could keep the store open during the storms. We stayed 4 nights in all and we found everything to be excellent. We had everything we needed and enjoyed a comfortable nights sleep during the winter storms. Thanks Gail and Tony for allowing us the opportunity to check out your apartments. We would highly recommend to anyone traveling in the Black Hills winter or summer. See you at the Siding!! Pat

    • We spent 2 weeks at Cliff View apts. while visiting the Rapid City Area. The apt. was very nice,clean,roomy & well furnished.We bought an inexpensive portable propane grill at WalMart and grilled out for supper in the evenings. We took day trips from there on our motorcycle as it is centrally located for all the Black Hills attractions.Tony was a great host and very helpful. We really enjoyed our time at Cliff View and recommend it.

    • We stayed at the Cliff View for a week while visiting the area and had a great time! The apartments are in a fantastic location, outside of the city but still close to everything you may need or want to do. The place was very clean and well equipped to house my family. I would definitely return to the Cliff View and recommend it to anyone considering renting here.

    • Great apartment and very reasonably priced! Was centrally located for everything we wanted to do and many friendly people in Johnson Siding. Owner was a great guy with many interesting stories and good suggestions for activities to do. We had a great time and would stay here again in the future!

    • My family stayed in a 2-bedroom unit at Cliff View, and it was a very positive experience. We enjoyed meeting Tony, who was very friendly and helpful, and attentive to our needs and requests. The unit was clean and well-furnished, and so much better than staying in a motel room. Actually, we would have had to rent 2 motel rooms, which would have cost at least twice as much and wouldn't have been half as nice. We'll definitely return to Cliff View when we visit Rapid City again!

    • I stayed at Cliff View while having radiation treatments in Rapid City. I was a wonderful alternative to a motel. I was able to bring my dog and the walks in the Hills were great. The apartment was very comfortable and seemed more like a home while being there for 7 weeks. Highly recommend to anyone needing needing long term housing near Rapid City. Everyone was very helpful.

    • The property was in excellent shape. All the items you need to live in the accomodation were provided - linens, cookware, dishes, etc. The amount of room in the accomodation was excellent - I really liked the bedroom upstairs and the living/cooking area downstairs. The property manager quickly addressed any requests. The convenient parking immediately next to the unit was great. For a vacation, this location midway between the Spearfish and Custer areas provided flexibility.

    • We stayed in the Cliff View apartments for 5 weeks. The apartments, the area around and the people were very nice. Everything important is nearby. Rapid City can be reached in 15 minutes. If I stay again in Rapid City, I take the Cliff view apartments.

    • If you are planning to visit the Black Hills area I would highly recommend that you stay at Cliff View. You will be very happy that you did. The location is central to all of the attractions. The units are furnished very nicely. Tony and Gail are super people. We stayed there for a week and had a wonderful time. I will definitley be back to the Black Hills soon and I will definitely pick Cliff View for the place to stay.

    • These rooms are awesome! Totally remodeled. We spent only one night here. But, it was fantastic. My wife & I had our mariage reception in the hall close to here and we stayed in these rooms our wedding night 15 years ago. They were nowhere close to as nice then as they are now! Congratulations to Gail & Tony for doing such a great job remodeling. Well worth the money compared to the high priced hotels in the city! We plan to revisit again soon and hopefully stay longer.
