Just spent a wonderful adventurous week in the trees and on the trails of the Pura Jungla with some excellent surfing and friendly guides at nearby Playa Negra.Highly recommended to anyone who likes their vacations to be a little more interesting. 4x4 is a must to drive through the river, navigate the potholes and climb the occasional steep hill.Did you find this review helpful? Paul & Jeanne: Our three week stay in Feb. & Mar. 2010 was spectacular in every way. An incredible structure in a beautiful setting. Everything worked and was as described. Easy access to anything we could want in an area mostly unspoiled so far. Our mistake was in booking for only three weeks! And now we have two new friends. Thanks, Lynn & PeterDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Dear Paul and Jeanne –Paul, leave it to you to provide us with an adventure-of-a-lifetime, with all amenities and luxuries of being at home, in a treehouse in the Costa Rican jungle! As I await the sunrise, just before dawn on this last morning of our stay, listening to the monkeys, frogs and birds celebrating a new day, I reflect on a fantastic week here in your little piece of paradise. Every morning I had the dawn to myself while the others still slept, and listened to the “deafening” silence and peace of nature as I sipped my coffee in one of your rockers and lounged in the hammock (first time in one in almost 3 yrs.) as I journaled and contemplated my life’s many gifts and blessings. Yours and Jeanne’s willingness to share this beautiful, serene bit of heaven is truly one of them. Here are a few more of my hi-lights and fond memories to take home: occasional visits by Senior Frog in the toilet; these early mornings alone enjoying the sounds of silence; dancing in your meditation rooftop with the winds cooling me from all directions; lazy days at the beach body surfing, boogie boarding, sunning, reading and walking the shoreline picking shells and watching the crabs,; Brian finding fresh coconut and us enjoying it a few nights; throwing the compostables out the window; almost daily visits by the howlers (up close and almost personal yesterday). Then there was our overnight surprise excursion to Tamarindo for my birthday; the bumpy rides in our SUV along your jungle road; the crazy winds for the first few days and nights; the view of the Pacific thru and above the trees; the spectacular sunsets; our many runs into “town” for beer and wine; the delicious meals we were able to cook and enjoy by candlelight every night; our 2 flat tires and the adventures that came along with them; getting my hair braided; having fresh hearts of palm and beautiful avocados in our salads and finally enjoying the company of good friends that have a history with us that goes back as far as yours and mine – all of us reunited thru a tragedy that ironically has created such joy. Yesterday is gone, tomorrow is a mystery, and right now is a gift, that’s why we call it the “present”.Thank you again Paul and Jeanne for enhancing the gifts in my life by sharing the gifts in yours.Did you find this review helpful? An guest entry from Brenda and Jim Gervais, Toronto January 3, 2009. Paul and Jeanne...so glad your time in Costa Rica was so enjoyable...we also had a wonderful time...your place is very unique and in a lovely setting and location...we enjoyed the first week on our own and the adventures we had exploring the many beaches and towns...and just enjoying some time reading overlooking the canopy from the treehouse. The people we met were all very helpful and friendly. Our second week with our 4 additional people was amazing...our daughters and their significant others had a fantastic time and the treehouse and Costa Rica more than met their expectations. We spent our last night in Liberia at El Punto which was fantastic...would highly recommend it for any future people who might need Liberia accommodation recommendations. Our experience was a memorable one that we will cherish...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I try to save special words for special cases. La Pura Jungla and this house are wonderful. That said, read others' happy comments. I want to comment on things families worry about on arrival. Things work -- fridge, stove, laundry, plumbing. Things are clean -- rooms, showers, closets, beds. Access to the house is easy and the living space is gracious and safe. Neighbours are friendly and helpful. The local store has, among other good things, tonic water, olives and cheese. The beach is obvious from the second floor, about 6 kms away. In March it had less than 20 people on it, a small, friendly bistro, with good, cold beer for a dollar, good food and a hammock in the shade. Walking, around the house and in the area, is safe, easy and fun, on road and off and Molly, the dog, will guide you. Roads are rough but you're driving a rental; local eating places are good, easily accessed and not overbooked. Local creatures are friendly and not intrusive. Nights are insect-free and wonderfully breezy. Dress is casual. If you don't enjoy, the problem's with you . . .Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We visited Costa Rica March 15-22, 2008. It was amazing!!! The treehouse is simply spectacular. My husband, our three children (ages 12-15) and I enjoyed our visit to basically a new world for us. I highly recommend visiting if you love wildlife, beautiful beaches, great food, friendly locals, and staying someplace unique... not just another Holiday Inn on the beach. This place is best for families with older children who wish to get away from the fast pace of today's modern world for relaxing and absorbing nature. The surf is excellent, the beaches are beautiful, and the kids really enjoyed boogie boarding, or body surfing by day, and hanging out watching for monkeys, playing cards, and watching DVDs by night. When you first arrive at the treehouse and climb to the top of the stairs to an expansive view of the Pacific Ocean you will be captivated, guaranteed. Be sure to visit Lolas on Playa Avallenas, the Restaurant Latinos close to the treehouse, and the pizza place near Playa Negra (our favorites)! We definitely want to go back. -The KroezesDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 2/2

Paul and Jeanne, what a peace of heaven. The Tree-House was one of the best experiences I've ever had. The sounds of the jungle, the tree tops, the views of the Pacific. Thank you very much, from a Costarrican native residing in Minnesota, WOW, what a place.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

Our tree house experience was wonderful: the troop of howler monkeys coming past the living room with their baby every day; the squirrel cuckoo and every other bird you can imagine; the geckos, iguana and cane toads; all added up to an unforgettable experience. As well as the treat of perfect sunny days we watched an evening lightning storm move across the sky and the rain brought out millions of fireflies that flashed through the jungle. Our stay at the tree house created memories that will last a lifetime — we will be back!Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 1/1

We just returned from a magical week with our son and his partner from a wonderful jungle setting at Paul and Jeanne's treehouse in Costa Rica. To call this amazing structure a treehouse is a misnomer- it is an elegant teak , ceraminc and steel structure perched atop a mountain with ocean views and surrounded by jungle. It is almost invisible in its surroundings . We would awaken here to the errie but funny calls of the Howlers and watch both the sunrises and the sunsets while sipping coffee or wine or "Imperial" from the hamocs at the upper level meditation room. We lacked for nothing here -it has all the creature comforts. And how can you replace the exotic Coatimundi drinking at the pond at the base of your stairs in the morning? Or the monkey family foraging in the trees off your living room. Or the friendly geckos greeting you when you return home at night. We did all the touristy things , ate all the "tipico" foods, and drank the tipico Imperial. This setting made it extra special and was a wonderful way to start the day and a welcome comfort to return to at night. Favorite beaches included Playa Nega watching the expert surfers and eating the highly recommended heart of palm salad at the thatched roof bar on the beach. Horsebacking riding along the beach was a hit as well as the surf lessons at Tamarindo and the snorkellng. Zip lining is also something you just have to do in a jungle, and can you think of a better place than this! It's all here-Thank you Paul and Jeanne.Did you find this review helpful? We soooooo loved our visit to the treehouse! The Monkeys and the Coatimundi greeted us at dawn the first morning! I made a special effort to visualize every detail when I was there, so on days like this, I can recall the sights, sounds and feel of the place whenever I feel the need to relax! We loved everything about our stay in beautiful Costa Rica and have lots of photos to remember it by. We are very grateful to both of you for this very special experience, and are already looking forward to our next vacation there! Thank you both so much !Did you find this review helpful? My daughter Kelly and I just spent 10 magical days at JunglaVista. It was a return trip to Pura Jungla for me and the first for 17 year old Kelly to see our dear friend Ray in his wonderous wilderness. From a fabulous day of deepsea fishing on The Ocean Smasher to Kelly's surfing lessons at Playa Negra, every day was its own adventure. Having the Treehouse as our home base and refuge each evening was truly a dream come true. We both noticed how everyone we met seemed to be smiling from ear to ear. Thank you Paul and Jeanne. Kelly's recounting of our trip for her brother Nick absolutely guarantees that we will be back.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

AWESOME! BREATHTAKINGLY BEAUTIFUL! Our experience at the Treehouse was memorable to say the least. Mornings... drinking Costa Rican coffee in the meditation room, watching the monkeys and birds was the best.... Evenings was like having a front row seat to a live taping of the Discovery Channel!! The Jungle came alive! We loved the beaches (Iguanazul was our favorite), the food (Lola's at Playa Avellana for lunch - Delicious!)and the abundant supply of cold Imperial. A day trip to Monteverde and the SkyTrek Zip Line tour was an adventure well worth the BUMPY drive up the mountains. The view was breathtaking! The experience exhilerating! Costa Rica is paradise... The Treehouse is heavenly... Thank you, Paul and Jeanne, for sharing your piece of Heaven...Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I had the experience of a lifetime. This included a guided tour with my hosts Jeanne and Paul. They showed me places I will never forget and beaches I didn’t think existed – some almost totally deserted. If you want peace and quiet, this is heaven. You can be your own explorer or mingle with the tourists up in Tamarindo. Dinner was often under a full night sky with stars as far as the eye can see.Watch for those Papagayo Winds in February – they really blow! There is nothing that I have ever seen that can compare with the treehouse with its upper viewing deck above the canopy of trees from which you can see twenty miles of the Pacific Coast line. Thanks for a wonderful time.Did you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

What wonderful memories we have of your Treehouse! It was a grand adventure for our family and a fun week that we will always remember! The Howler monkeys were everywhere, and the evenings proved to be an interesting study of wildlife… with an occasional exotic toad in the bathroom and a preying mantis (giant walking stick) in the butter one night!! The butterflies are gorgeous, and the birdcalls in the early dawn are wonderful. One morning the tree off the master bedroom was filled with yellow birds. The sunrise observed on the upper level… with yoga or a cup of tea, and the sunset… with a glass of wine and a bit of cheese, are the perfect ways to start and end a magic day. It was great fun to throw the vegie and fruit garbage over the balcony! We finally discoverd the iquana garbage disposers down below, so it was our morning entertainment to watch them argue over the mango peels and papaya seeds. We spent lots of time on the beaches but didn't discover our favorite one, Playa Avellanas until the last day, which was tooo bad! We saw breaching whales out in the ocean late one afternoon followed by a gorgeous sunset. What a show! Body surfing and the Boogie Boards were favorite activities enjoyed by all of us, and we got in some very good snorkeling mornings, too when the tide was out.One day we ventured up to Rincon on and all day away trip and did a long hike to the turquoise waterfall there. It was wonderful to be able to swim next to all that waterpower! We saw white-faced monkeys there and several Coatimundi. Costa Rica is beautiful and life in a treehouse really enhanced the experience of living in the Jungle Thankyou, for an extraordinary experience!Did you find this review helpful? Do I ever wish I was back at the treehouse in Costa Rica, here in B.C. its cold and rainy. Thanks for the visit, it was the highpoint of my winter, and I hope to be back down as soon as we are able. With a new surfboard, the beaches and surfing were awesome! All the best, Sean EastonDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

I was lucky enough to visit this paradise tree house in March of 2005. It was truly a once in a lifetime experience and can't wait to go back. I don't think anyone would be able to book a vacation this sensational. The wildlife is entertaining and the environment is breathtaking!!!Did you find this review helpful?
