You will find hardwood floors throughout, new ceiling fans, a large enclosed yard for your pets to enjoy with enlarged patio & BBQ for outside dining. This appealing beach bungalow has ample off-street parking for multiple cars.
You will find all the amenities that you need as this beach house, comes fully equipped, even with an outside shower, beach towels, chairs, umbrella and sand toys for the kids to enjoy!
There is plenty to see in San Clemente, however if you are interested in venturing out, you will find other beach cities such as Dana Point and harbor, where you can picnic, jet ski or catch a cruise to Catalina for the day. Laguna Beach is just a quick ride north and a great way to enjoy its well-known art galleries, shops and eateries.
If you are still not satisfied, you can head south toward Carlsbad or San Diego where you will discover great shops, restaurants, Legoland or even Sea World. If you do not feel like driving, you can always catch the Pacific Surf-liner train, as it stops right at the pier for a day excursion down or up the coast. Of course, there is always Knotts Berry Farm, Disneyland and Hollywood within an hours reach!

Why the Owner Chose San Clemente
When we first bought the house, not only was the location perfect but it had a great California Bungalow style, which we loved. We loved the character and charm of the house. Since the house was a short walk to the beach and town, we found ourselves often walking to our favorite restaurants for dinner or to catch the sunset on a winter's night. We also often walked into town for the farmer's markets and village fairs and of course the many street fairs, classic car shows or surf shows. We loved our little beach house and when it was time to leave we felt so many others would love it too, which is why we decided to share it as our beach house retreat!
The Unique Benefits at this House
Every time we come to our beach house there is a sense of calm and serenity. I always feel the warmth and coziness of the house. Each room offers it's own unique feel and energy, which brings me comfort and peace. We love to take our dogs for a walk near the beach and towards town and to window shop on Del Mar st. or stop for coffee and tea at the Hawaiian coffee shop. We also love having breakfast at Antoine's on El Camino Real or dinner at either the Beach Fire or Avilla's Mexican Restaurant. Our beach house is truly a retreat for us and we hope for the many guests who have stayed.

Hi, we are Nancy Redlich Laub & David Laub, owners of San Clemente Beach House Retreat. We currently live in Carlsbad, which is 20 minutes south of San Clemente in the North part of San Diego. We both grew up living near the ocean and have always found it home for us. We enjoy traveling a lot and prefer to rent a home or a condo wherever we go. We know what we like to see in a vacation rental for ourselves so we've tried to incorporate this into our own property. When we first bought the house in 1999 we lived in it for over 3 years. We always wanted to move back to San Diego area so we decided to rent the house. After a few years of long-term rentals we decided that the house would be perfect as a vacation rental!

My husband, college age daughter and 11 year old niece and I rented this beach house for a week. It was perfect! We loved the location and enjoyed the easy walk down the couple of blocks to the ocean. Walking back up was what we called healthy exercise as the house is at the top of the hill. The house was well stocked with linens, kitchen ware and paper necessities. Everything was sparkling clean and the neighborhood was friendly. Beds were harder than we liked, but it would never prevent us from coming back again. We loved the town of San Clemente and found some great restaurants to eat at (Nick's on Del Mar and Sonny's on El Camino). The back yard barbecue and fire pit were great to use, although I had to call the owner to figure out how to use the fire pit and barbecue. We also enjoyed the DVD library for late evenings. It was a very relaxing beach vacation (we did travel to San Diego…easy one hour drive…to visit the San Diego Zoo for the day. We hope to come back another time.

This house was perfect for my family visiting California from the eastern USA to welcome our Marine home from Afghanistan. It is in a safe quiet neighborhood within walking distance to the beach, pier and downtown shops. The house was clean and more than adequately furnished with dishes, linens, & misc supplies. The beds were large & comfortable. The TV was a newer model. Laundry facilities were good. Plenty of hot water for showers. We especially enjoyed the private backyard which is larger than it appears in the on-line photo and the accompanying fire pit. The fenced yard is perfect for those in need of a pet friendly property. Parking is off street but a little tight in the narrow driveway. Owners were attentive to our requests during our two weeks stay. Only minor inconvenience was a non- working coffee maker in the kitchen, but I believe the owners have replaced that. I would definitely rent this house again. As I told the owner when we met, "The only thing wrong with this house is that I don't own it!" Although the owners are not in the immediate vicinity, they are readily available either via e-mail or by phone and respond quickly to any needs or inquiries.

Myself, wife, mother-in-law and two dogs were there for the month of January 2011. Our son, and his family of 5 were there the first week. There was room for everyone, though son's family slept in living room as my Mother-in-law had one bedroom to herself. The owner, David, visited at least once a week to see how we were getting on. He was most generous in providing us with solutions to any problems we had. Ex. TV is surround sound. It is easy to mess up. Daviid had a guy out the next day to fix it. We had needed a lot of water for our two French press machines. David got us an electrical kettle. He also gave us some great advice on places to go and things to do. David seems willing, even eager, to hear our advice on how to improve our stay. The house is just two (long) blocks from the pier and walking distance from San Clemente's main drag where all the shops and restaurants are. It is just a few minutes to the freeway. The beds were comfortable. The house is older, but David and Nancy are making many improvements to it. The hot water heater was big enough so all 5 adults could take a quick shower the same morning, but he is working on a replacement that will supply instant hot water. There is room to park 3 cars off the street, but single file. Would we go back. You bet! I would like to go again next year, our health and finances permitting.

We had a very, very nice time in San Clemente and this is a great little place! The location couldn't get any better. Close to the beach, close to the restaurants, close to the shops and even close to the freeway. We really enjoyed this trip and we'd definitely come back.

We had a great time. The location is fantastic, walking distance to downtown and the beach. The house is very cozy and spacious. It is a little bit dated saying the house shows patina and needs some touch ups. We also missed a dishwasher. Anyhow we liked the house and we will recommend it to others.

The house has weathered through many years and many renters but still maintains its own charm and uniqueness. We have tried to maintain that uniqueness and have chosen to keep some of the 'character' that comes along with it. We understand that we cannot appeal to everyone's taste and that just comes along with the territory. We do however, take pride in our commitment to provide a clean, well-maintained, comfortable environment with most of the modern conveniences.

The location is perfect - an easy stroll down Monterey Lane to the pier, and an equally convenient stroll to restaurants and shopping on Avenida Del Mar. Don't miss the Sunday farmers market. The backyard is very private and perfect for young kids and a dog - lots of grass and room to run around. The beds are good sized and comfortable. In summary we loved the house and location and will be back next summer!
