This cabin is located directly on Serene Lakes with a living room and large deck overlooking the lake. In the summer you walk out the back door to go canoeing and in the winter you can ski off the deck to the frozen lake. Sugar Bowl is only 5 miles away and is one of Tahoe's best downhill ski resorts. The cabin is surrounded by Royal Gorge, which is one the largest cross-country skiing areas in the world. In the summer, the canoeing, hiking and mountain biking is outstanding.

The cabin is just down the street from Ice Lakes Lodge. You can either walk or canoe to the Lodge for lunch, dinner or an afternoon drink.
The fishing on the lake is excellent. You can catch rainbow and lake trout with both bait and flies. We supply two canoes and one kayak with life vests.
This cabin sleeps 15 with 5 bedrooms with queens and 2 bunk rooms. The cabin has 4 bathrooms and a second kitchen and living room on the first floor.

Why the Owner Chose Donner Lake
We bought this cabin on Serene Lake because the area is very private and peaceful and we are surrounded by the Royal Gorge ski area, which is fantastic for skiing, hiking and mountain biking. The lake is also part of our backyard, and we can watch fish jumping from the living room and deck.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
In the summer, we fish every night from canoes that we launch from our beach. During the day, we swim in the lake, kayak and hike in the miles of open space behind the cabin. If you look on the map, you'll see that we have mile and miles of open space around the lakes. It is also wonderful for mountain biking. We love to ski in the winter. You can ski out the back door on the lake or out the front door in Royal Gorge. We can also drive 5 minutes to Sugar Bowl, which is one of California's top downhill resorts.

We live in the bay area and wanted a place in the Sierra's to spend time with our girls. We chose Serene Lakes because it is a perfect area where we can hike, ski and canoe directly from our cabin without driving anywhere.

Serene Lake reminds me of what Lake Tahoe used to be like in the late 70s, a gorgeous setting within easy driving distance of the Bay Area. My family and I had a blast skiing at Soda Springs (5 min drive) and Sugarbowl (10 min drive). This vacation cabin, unlike others I've rented, has all the amenities such as unobstructed lake views and access for snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, etc. Just open the backdoor and you're there. You can bring your folks, your own family and your sibling's family - each gets their own floor and privacy. Yet, there is the open mid-level area for relaxing in front of the view (or large screen TV - nothing like watching the local ski channel to get you excited about hitting the slopes) and enjoying the warmth of the cast iron stoves with a glass of wine in hand. Speaking of food, unlike most kitchens this one is fully stocked with utensils, you actually find useful when cooking sit-down meals. The dining area can accommodate everyone at the table. I can't wait to check this cabin out in the summer with my family for hiking, biking and swimming in the lake. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful home to spend vacation with family and friends! We were here for a winter ski n snowboard trip, and the house comfortably fit all of us, 6 families! Packed with games, excellent kitchen, all working heater and appliances. The view was beautiful, and location was excellent, very close by Soda Springs Resort. Would love to come back in the future. Thank you for sharing this property with us!

My family just got back from the most wonderful few days at Serene Lakes Cabin. We have rented MANY houses before, and this was by far the best experience ever. The house is tastefully decorated, immaculately kept and in an amazing location. The layout of the house is great for one family or many. It is spacious, yet also very cozy. We are already planning on booking a week or two during the summer.
