This cabin is located directly on Serene Lakes with a living room and large deck overlooking the lake. In the summer you walk out the back door to go canoeing and in the winter you can ski off the deck to the frozen lake. Sugar Bowl is only 5 miles away and offers some Tahoe's best downhill skiing. The cabin is surrounded by Royal Gorge, which is one the largest cross-country skiing areas in the world. In the summer, the canoeing, hiking and mountain biking is outstanding.
The cabin is just down the street from Ice Lakes Lodge. You can either walk or canoe to the Lodge for lunch, dinner or an afternoon drink.
This cabin sleeps 11 (4 bedrooms, 1 bunkroom and 3 baths) and has an additional floor/unit that sleeps an additional 4 with a bedroom, bunkroom, kitchen, bathroom and living room, which can also be rented for an additional cost. We do NOT rent the additional floor separately when the top unit is rented.

Why the Owner Chose Donner Lake
We bought this cabin on Serene Lake because the area is very private and peaceful and we are surrounded by the Royal Gorge ski area, which is fantastic for skiing, hiking and mountain biking. The lake is also part of our backyard, and we can watch fish jumping from the living room and deck.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin
In the summer, I fish every night from a canoe that I launch from our beach. During the day, we swim in the lake, kayak and hike in the huge open space behind the cabin. If you look on the map, you'll see that we have mile and miles of open space around the lakes. It is also wonderful for mountain biking. We love to ski in the winter. You can ski out the back door on the lake or out the front door in Royal Gorge. We can also drive 5 minutes to Sugar Bowl, which is one of California's top downhill resorts.

We live in the bay area and wanted a place in the Sierra's to spend time with our girls. We chose Serene Lakes because it is a perfect area where we can hike, ski and canoe directly from our cabin without driving anywhere.
