"Cariño" is a ground level, studio apartment which is a perfect fit for one or two people. With a full private bath, a queen size bed, and a kitchen nook with refrigerator, two-burner stove top, microwave, toaster, blender and coffee maker it is efficient without being cramped. Enjoy the view of the ocean from the bed or from the hammock on the shaded terrace and cool off in the largest, privately owned pool in the area.
The studio is part of a six-apartment complex, on top of the hill above Playa Pelada where the breezes are fresh and cooling. It can be rented separately or as an extra bedroom for the other apartments. Ask for discount, when reserving more than one unit.
For complete privacy, the property is nestled between lots of tropical plants behind fences and walls.
Weekly maid service is included in the price, as is use of the laundry room. Away from both TV and telephone, you can truly relax, but there is a radio with tape deck plus CD-player, for some of our or your own music. Telephone and Internet access is available at "Seekret Spot" by the beach, and at several Internet cafes in the area.
By Christmas 2009, we anticipate to have WiFi for the complex.
We do ask that you do not smoke inside or bring pets at all.
By the start of 2010, our lower age limit will be 18 years, and a truly relaxing, adult atmosphere is included in the price. No matter your age, you will love the pool which is the largest private pool in the area. It takes 10-15 minute to walk to the beach or the mouth of Rio Nosara for swimming, fishing, and shell collecting. (Coming back takes a little bit longer, because it is up-hill part of the way.)
Car or ATV is necessary for trips to Nosara village and beyond.
If you like surfing, the waves at nearby Playa Guiones are considered some of the best in Costa Rica.
Between July and December, Playa Ostional, half hour away, is the scene of one of Nature's wonders, when the Olive Ridley sea turtles come ashore during the lowest light of a new moon to nest. Year round, there is a rich bird and animal life everywhere.

Owner's Profile
Owner Description
Year Purchased: 2001
Despite our Scandinavian roots, we have always turned our eyes to the South when traveling for pleasure. In 1980, we emigrated to Virginia and found a climate much better than what we were used to in Denmark, but our vacations would generally take us even further south – and always to bodies of water. Over the years, we have seen many beautiful places, but it was always good to go back home to Virginia.
Why the Owner Chose Nosara
In the summer of 2000, we traveled to Nosara, Costa Rica for the first time. We stayed at a small resort, which a friend had made us aware of. It was love at first sight! Nosara had everything we like: beach, ocean, warm weather, tropical fruits, fresh fish, original, local flair and friendly people. For the first time, we felt very much “at home”. Nosara chose us to stay, and a building lot for sale nearby kept calling us. Building in a Central American country has been a very interesting experience! It has taken a little blood, lots of sweat and some tears - and more patience than we thought we had, but we love the result. The resort where we stayed is no longer in business, but we are, and we invite you to share in our dream.
The Unique Benefits of this Studio
“Cariño” is named for our friend Carin who first made us aware of a place called Nosara. In Spanish, “Cariño” means: ‘affection, love’ and that is just what we feel for our friend.
This little studio is so cute and lovable, but still offers you the opportunity to spend time in grand surroundings while being on a budget. The space was first planned as the laundry room/storage area, but when we realized that we could see the ocean from the front, we decided to make it a small studio apartment instead. (The utility room was moved further under the building and does not have a view!)
Yes, it is on the small side, but it is not cramped and it offers everything you need, even for an extended time. The banana palms are just outside the door – right next to t h e best hammock location!!
