Commonly Asked Questions:
The home is very close to the freeway, is noise an issue?
Answer: This home is located very close to I-5 which gives renters convenient access to anywhere they want to go. But they are always concerned about noise.
Noise from the freeway has never been an issue. The freeway has a sound barrier running between it and the street on the west side. The home is located facing the lake (west) away from the freeway and there is a row of houses between the freeway and the house. I am an extremely light sleeper and even with all the windows open I don’t hear the freeway.
Do you have suggestions for where to go, what to see and where to eat?
Answer: When you book our property we will provide you with tons of information about Seattle and the Eastlake Neighborhood. There is also a binder located at the home that contains tons of information (including restaurants that deliver!) and renters are welcome to add their own recommendations to this book. We will help you make the most of your visit to the area and we are on call to answer any questions that may come up!!!
About the neighborhood: Eastlake
Today, Eastlake is the product of its history along with hard work by its citizens to establish street end parks, the latest of which is the Fairview/Olmsted Park, to plant street trees, and bring public art to the neighborhood. In 1998, the Seattle City Council adopted the Eastlake Neighborhood Plan, prepared by a committee of local residents, business, and property owners with lots of input from the neighborhood. In the future, local citizens hope the plan will guide them in their neighborhood improvements and guide the city in its decisions.
Eastlake is one of Seattle's oldest and best-defined neighborhoods. It is east of Lake Union (hence the name 'Eastlake'), south of University bridge, west of Interstate 5, and north of Mercer Street. With about 5,000 residents, Eastlake is a pleasant jumble of houseboats, single family homes, apartments, condos and small businesses. Over the past twenty years residents of Eastlake have worked hard to conserve the character of the neighborhood, plant street trees, to develop shoreline parks and points of interest along the shores of Lake Union, to install public art and to plan for transportation and future development through its neighborhood plan.
History of Eastlake: Eastlake became identifiable as a neighborhood in the 1890's. With the opening of the University Bridge in 1919, travel through Eastlake was encouraged. Residentially, Eastlake became a streetcar neighborhood of small apartments. Along the Lake, industrial uses grew up. Boeing's first factory was located at the foot of Roanoke Street. Houseboats began to move in and factories move out in the 40's and 50's. In 1962 the I-5 freeway came roaring through the neighborhood, defining Eastlake's eastern edge and changing the neighborhood forever. In the early 1970's, Eastlake was rediscovered and residents set about conserving it and added parks, trees, and public art in the 1980's.

We had a wonderful stay at the Seattle View property, and the View was indeed a highlight. But the most important highlights were the location and the parking. The property includes access to a two car garage. This is a very important feature for this area of Seattle, or anywhere in Seattle for that matter. It was great to pull up at the property on our first day, pull both vehicles into the garage and then leave them! The Eastlake neighborhood is a great place to start explorations of Seattle. There are several fun bistros and coffee opportunities within walking distance of the house. 14 Carrots (an old favorite) and Louisa's (great new favorite) are two very special breakfast and brunch spots - great fresh ingredients and wonderful choices. Voxx coffee is right down the hill from the house. It is a wonderful coffee spot. The home's location in the grand scheme is also very convenient. When we left the neighborhood, we did use our car. We did not avail ourselves of public transportation, but the highway access is amazingly easy. The exits to I 5 North and I 5 South are within a couple of blocks of the house, one exit to the North is the Wallingford neighborhood and one exit to the South is the City Center. Very close access to Capitol Hill neighborhood as well. The home itself is very nice and comfortable. We did not use the kitchen to cook (too many good restaurants nearby) , but the coffee maker was used every day! The kitchen was well appointed and if we had wanted to cook, we could have prepared a gourmet meal on the gas range. I was tempted! The bedrooms were very comfortable and quiet. We easily slept five adults in three bedrooms. The house was clean and comfortable. Our only disappointment was the home's temperature. The home's radiant heating is set a bit warm. We are a warm-blooded family and we were often too hot even with the doors open, with no way to turn the heat down. Finally, THE VIEW! Wow! I would love to rent this house during Fourth of July festivities, but I'm sure it's booked years in advance on that Holiday! You have perfect views of the city and Space Needle, as well as a lovely view of Fairmont Bridge and Lake Union and the Olympic Mountains when the clouds clear. Watching Sea Planes landing during the day was very cool and fun. I have already recommended this home to others and we would definitely go back again if the opportunity arises.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.
Owner response: So glad you enjoyed your stay and we hope when you come back to Seattle you will stay with us again. So sorry about the house being warm. Right before you arrived there was a cold spell and the heat was turned too high.

Anne was such a great person to work with when it came to planning our stay for our weekend getaway to Seattle. She responded to my emails right away, and was super flexible with us. We had booked our flights before we had booked a place, but Anne allowed us to check-in earlier and also check-out later to help us out. It was great! The place looked even better in pictures. The view of the Seattle skyline from the top floor was amazing, and the place was a lot bigger than what I had expected. The place was super clean and spacious, and we felt right at home. We're really glad we stayed here, and would totally come back in the future! Thanks, Anne, for everything! :)Recommended for: Tourists without a car, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

This was such a great townhouse for a gathering of our young adult family. It is so centrally located, with easy on/off freeway access, and terrific views. The way the townhouse is laid out, made for plenty of space and privacy, but with a nice common area for cooking, eating and playing games. There are a lot of stairs with 4 total stories from garage to master bedroom, so would not be good for people who have trouble with stairs. It was very quiet. Nice heated floors. I especially loved the balconies and the master jetted tub. The kitchen had everything we needed and more for preparing meals together. Plus, the owner was fantastic to work with! Very prompt and efficient. The whole family loved the home, and we would definitely stay here again!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway.

This house looks just like the pictures. Five of us stayed here--two couples and a teen. Rooms are very comfortable, kitchen is well-stocked, master bath shower is spacious, and the balcony off the master bedroom was a treat. Also loved having the garage, as well as the keyless entry. It meant we didn't have to leave the door unlocked for the night owls or juggle one key. Good public transportation and a quick drive into the city too. And nothing beats a quick walk for a good morning cup of coffee at Voxx's or tahini French toast at 14-Carrot Cafe. The only negative is the weather was a little warm for Seattle standards, so the bedrooms (except the master, which had the large sliding glass door we could open) didn't cool down at night as much as we would have liked. But you can't fault the owner for a hot spell.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing.

The six of us had a wonderful time at your place! Frankly, it was everything as advertised -- but better. It just doesn't happen that often. I think, in part, it was because of the video clips and all of the written information about the place and the neighborhood. There were only pleasant surprises. Like: (1) the nifty view of Queen Anne Hill where my Dad and his brothers were raised, (2) the Sleepless in Seattle DVD, (3) the sea-planes landing and taking off, (4) the super neighborhood, (5) the use of the door code for access, and (6) that wonderful garage. We were there to celebrate what would have been my Dad's 100th birthday. We had a party with just over 30 well-wishers. One of my cousins I had not seen since the World's Fair in 1962! It was a great excuse for a party/reunion! We really appreciated all of your recommendations. We toured most of the family sites -- like Alki Point and West Seattle High (my Mom graduated in 1927) and Queen Anne High (my Dad graduated in 1928). We even hit Lake View Cemetery for some family members. A real find for us was the Belmont neighborhood. That was new to us. Thank you so much, Anne!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, sightseeing, adventure seekers.

Our recent trip to Seattle was my idea, and after one look at the owner’s pictures of her panoramic view, I coaxed my husband and three grown teens into going (admittedly from my end in search only of cooler weather, chocolate, and coffee). One of our older girls expressed her reservations when, according to her I-phone, the top 15 things to do were museums and parks (not exactly her cup of tea). Then only a few days before we were to leave I happened on Google Maps and had to admit having a few reservations myself, when seeing an unflattering photo of the property. Other East Coast friends seemed surprised at our choice in venues, asking: “What’s in Seattle?” or “Won’t it be cold and rainy?” Fast forward to our arrival on Seattle soil and our first view of what was to be our residence for the week and let me tell you, we were all pleasantly and completely thrilled and surprised. Ann’s home is just as charming as pictured on her website (if not more) –ignore the Google Map pic, for it is completely deceiving. Instead, what you get is a beautiful, well-maintained, four-level townhome in a convenient city location with cute alleyways and flowers and views all around. We didn’t have a car the entire time and did just fine using our feet and varied forms of inexpensive public transportation. We HIGHLY recommend Charles’ 90 minute comedy tour---a great, fun way to view all parts of the city. We also managed to pack in trips to several museums (which the naysayer daughter actually enjoyed!) and even an easy trip to a beautiful beach—Alki Beach---also highly recommend. Had a scrumptious meal at Joey’s on the waterfront (walked there!) and other restaurants ---too many to count. Coffee shops, flea markets, and shopping of all kinds were everywhere—lots to see and do. My teen son brought his longboard and skated all around town independently, meeting nice people and scaling new hills. The weather turned out to be gorgeous---sunny most days---surprise!—and fantastic cool evenings. The views from the balconies of the home were breathtaking. The double massage shower and whirlpool tub were perfect for tired feet ---the beds were comfortable and the kitchen was beautiful. Just returned to triple digit East Coast temps and we’re already wishing we were back in Seattle. By all means look up Seattle for your next vacation and definitely book this home—I promise it will exceed all expectations.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

Stayed in this home for 5 days in June and had a wonderful time. Great restaurants very close and easy transportation options to get us everywhere we wanted to go. A beautiful home, clean, comfortable and a nice neighborhood. Within walking distance to a convenience store, wine market, some really good restaurants and the bus stop. Easy to get around Seattle from there. We had trouble with that DVD player as well, but the guys figured out how to hook it up. A very nice stay indeed!Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, romantic getaway, adventure seekers.

The vacation rental is beautiful. Looks better in person. Large comfortable rooms. Space for my adult children & grandchildren. Awesome water views. Easy access to I5. Walkable neighborhood. Enjoyed the convenience of the corner store & nearby ethnic restaurants. Has several stairs so need to be able bodied...my husband injured his back prior to going on vacation so he felt the stairs. The rest of us did fine (including the grandchildren ages 12 & 7) Would remove or attach TV components if not working (a little deceiving) Owners did offer the use of pay TV in lieu of properly working equipment. I would recommend to friends, family & re visit on subsequent vacations.Recommended for: Tourists without a car, age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway, sightseeing, families with young children.
Owner response: Thanks Melanie for your postive review of my beautiful home in Seattle. I checked the "tv components" and the dvd player was simply unplugged. Glad you enjoyed your stay!!

Owner info

About the owner: My Name is Anne and I am the manager and owner of Seattle View Property. As owner, I'm proud to extend my home to my guests. I manage the booking/scheduling, customer service and accounts receivables. I always have time for my renters!!! My family and I love to take quick trips to Seatte and stay at Seattle View Property. We love visiting all the parks and attractions that Seattle has to offer. I lived in the Seattle area up until a few years ago so I know the area very well and I can answer most questions you can come up with about the area.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Union:
The home was purchased as my primary residence and then later converted to a vacation rental. The view was the reason I bought the house... instantly it made me feel like I was on vacation and I had to have it.
The location is great! The EastLake Neighborhood has many wonderful Restaurants and shops. There are always events going on close by. I love how the on and off ramp for I-5 is so close but you don't hear the freeway noise. It's close to downtown but you aren't kept up all night by the noise of downtown.
Eastlake is a community in Seattle, Washington that lies between the eastern shore of Lake Union and the western side of I-5. Eastlake Avenue bisects the neighborhood running one and a half miles, from the length of the University Bridge at the north end to the Fairview Eastlake intersection at the south end.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome:
Personally I like visiting the small park at the end of the street where you can sit and enjoy Lake Union, The houseboats and the beautiful artwork. I love all the small lesser known parks in the Seattle area, ask me about them.
The Woodland Park Zoo is not far away and this is always a favorite spot for the kids! I like to walk around Pike Place Market and go play at Gas Works Park. Seattle has many amazing Theatres including The Paramount, The Showbox and many others.
