Commonly Asked Questions:
The home is very close to the freeway, is noise an issue?
Answer: This home is located very close to I-5 which gives renters convenient access to anywhere they want to go. But they are always concerned about noise.
Noise from the freeway has never been an issue. The freeway has a sound barrier running between it and the street on the west side. The home is located facing the lake (west) away from the freeway and there is a row of houses between the freeway and the house. I am an extremely light sleeper and even with all the windows open I don’t hear the freeway.
Do you have suggestions for where to go, what to see and where to eat?
Answer: When you book our property we will provide you with tons of information about Seattle and the Eastlake Neighborhood. There is also a binder located at the home that contains tons of information (including restaurants that deliver!) and renters are welcome to add their own recommendations to this book. We will help you make the most of your visit to the area and we are on call to answer any questions that may come up!!!
About the neighborhood: Eastlake
Today, Eastlake is the product of its history along with hard work by its citizens to establish street end parks, the latest of which is the Fairview/Olmsted Park, to plant street trees, and bring public art to the neighborhood. In 1998, the Seattle City Council adopted the Eastlake Neighborhood Plan, prepared by a committee of local residents, business, and property owners with lots of input from the neighborhood. In the future, local citizens hope the plan will guide them in their neighborhood improvements and guide the city in its decisions.
Eastlake is one of Seattle's oldest and best-defined neighborhoods. It is east of Lake Union (hence the name 'Eastlake'), south of University bridge, west of Interstate 5, and north of Mercer Street. With about 5,000 residents, Eastlake is a pleasant jumble of houseboats, single family homes, apartments, condos and small businesses. Over the past twenty years residents of Eastlake have worked hard to conserve the character of the neighborhood, plant street trees, to develop shoreline parks and points of interest along the shores of Lake Union, to install public art and to plan for transportation and future development through its neighborhood plan.
History of Eastlake: Eastlake became identifiable as a neighborhood in the 1890's. With the opening of the University Bridge in 1919, travel through Eastlake was encouraged. Residentially, Eastlake became a streetcar neighborhood of small apartments. Along the Lake, industrial uses grew up. Boeing's first factory was located at the foot of Roanoke Street. Houseboats began to move in and factories move out in the 40's and 50's. In 1962 the I-5 freeway came roaring through the neighborhood, defining Eastlake's eastern edge and changing the neighborhood forever. In the early 1970's, Eastlake was rediscovered and residents set about conserving it and added parks, trees, and public art in the 1980's.

Panoramic Views! Seattle Skyline, Space Needle and Lake Union
Year Purchased: 2001
Why the Owner Chose Lake Union
The home was purchased as my primary residence and then later converted to a vacation rental. The veiw was the reason I bought the house... instantly it made me feel like I was on vacation and I had to have it.
The location is great! The EastLake Neighborhood has many wonderful Restaurants and shops. There are always events going on close by. I love how the on and off ramp for I-5 is so close but you don't hear the freeway noise. It's close to downtown but you aren't kept up all night by the noise of downtown.
Eastlake is a community in Seattle, Washington that lies between the eastern shore of Lake Union and the western side of I-5. Eastlake Avenue bisects the neighborhood running one and a half miles, from the length of the University Bridge at the north end to the Fairview Eastlake intersection at the south end.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
Personally I like visiting the small park at the end of the street where you can sit and enjoy Lake Union, The houseboats and the beautiful artwork. I love all the small lesser known parks in the Seattle area, ask me about them.
The Woodland Park Zoo is not far away and this is always a favorite spot for the kids! I like to walk around Pike Place Market and go play at Gas Works Park. Seattle has many amazing Theatres including The Paramount, The Showbox and many others.
A nice little park with local art. Also the location of the houseboats featured in the movie "Sleepless in Seattle"

Never again wil I stay in a fancy hotel in Seattle with paper thin walls, the sounds of showers running elsewhere, and very little help with planning my itinerary or just help in getting around the town. I have fiinally found a charming place with the bonus of a good bed, a helpful owner willing to provide me with places to go and things to do in the professional community guide that is supplied. The owner even provided coupons to nearby attractions and restaurants. I felt like I was in a "home away from home", with the privacy and quiet I needed to do reports and the information I needed for taking the family on a break in town. I am already booking for my next trip to Seattle. This is the best deal in Seattle I have ever found. I wish it had not taken me so long.

My family and I recently had the pleasure of staying at this property. We chose the location because of its location and potential accommodations for my two grown children, their spouses, my granddaughter and me. We were thoroughly satisfied and very pleased with our selection. This vacation rental isperfectly depicted on line, clean, great view, nicely decorated with many nice touches such as Holiday decor. I would definitely recommend this property to anyone wanting a wonderful place to stay, in close proximity to the wonderful sites of Seattle. The view is absolutely breathtaking! Thank you for making our family vacation a memorable one!

Stayed here with my significant other and two other couples, and we really enjoyed the home. The home was clean and well kept, the kitchen was wonderful, the beds were comfortable, and the surrounding location was great... just a short walk got us whatever we needed. Having all six of us in the same home, but each able to have our own privacy when we needed it, made for an excellent social experience. Far better than the three hotel rooms we were initially considering ever could have. We are all looking forward to staying here again!

House was fantastic. Other than needing more seating in the living room the place was absolutely perfect. Clean, modern, and pleasantly furnished Simply amazing views. Walking distance to good food, good coffee, and a small grocery store with an incredible(!) selection of wine. Was able to walk to the space needle from the house (appx 2 miles). Owner was very accommodating and informative. Would/will definitely stay here again!

This 4-story townhome had everything a family of 6 (2 adults and 4 teens) needed. This home is awesome--we've already made it "ours." The home was clean upon arrival and ideally located for us to tour Seattle. Everything that is listed in the description, to include the pictures, of this home is accurate and operational. The views of Seattle were awesome. It was the first time my family saw sea planes land in Lake Union. One of the kids said it was "like a movie" to look up from the kitchen and out of the balcony window seeing a plane take off towards the Olympic Mountain range. Our summer vacation in Seattle was perfect temperature wise; no humidity like the East Coast! It was a breath of fresh air. There is more than enough information on the table about Seattle tours that it was hard to choose which activity to do! Getting around Seattle without a rental car is possible. We caught the Lite Rail from the airport to downtown Seattle. There is a busstop nearby, saving on parking costs. If you catch a bus to Seattle Center/Space Needle, you can catch the monorail downtown to other Seattle attractions. Bring walking shoes. We toured the Space Needle, Ride the Duck Tour, Pike Place, and Alki Beach (West Seattle), the waterfront (Ivars and the Ye Olde Curiosity Shop), not all in one day, of course. The Duck Tour was great. Our tour guide very informative, offering tidbits about Seattle. Our visit to Pike Place was a little crowded, but a vist to the market would not be complete without it. We saw "flying fish" and visited the very first Starbucks store. We also explored Alki Beach at low tide and even had an opportunity to see a harbor seal pose for us. Great for beachcombers! After a day of walking, the jacuzzi tub in the master bath came in very handy for a foot massage. I wish we had the time to do more: ride the ferry to Bainbridge Island (30 min ride from the waterfront to the island), go on the Underground Tour, and take an Argosy tour to Tillicum Village. We rented a car (that could be parked in the two-car garage) and drove to Mt Rainier National Park (about 2 hours away). We took the scenic drive Paradise and turned around before it go too dark. If you're a big adventurer and love hiking, this is a great place to do it! We loved the townhouse, we love Seattle...We will be back!

Our family spent the last 5 nights of our 3 week vacation and this wonderful property. We have 4 children under the age of 10 so it was nice to have the separate living spaces for the kids on the second level. We were able to walk to the local park which had a nice playground and a lot of free space for the kids to run around. My kids also enjoyed walking down to the water and looking at the house boats. We walked to Voxx or Starbucks every morning for our coffee and the 14 carrot cafe was wonderful for breakfast and lunch. We were lucky enough to have 80 degree weather with beautiful blue skies for our entire stay. We never took any public transport to city....we felt with 6 of us renting a car was easier to get around.....we drove to Trader Joe's, Fremont, Ballard Locks, and of course downtown. We liked having the use of the car. This area was the place to be on the 4th of July....we stayed close to home, used the grill to BBQ and had a nice evening view from Master Bedroom for the fireworks......it was wonderful.......the only complaint I would have would be the layout of the family room.....I wish there was more comfy seating for adults....but I'm not exactly sure how it could be worked out....still I would rate this property top notch.....!

I brought my family for a long weekend for my daughter's wedding. We had 5 of us there, and there was plenty of room for us all. Clean, well appointed and decorated, and OMG what a view! From the upstairs bedroom you have a pretty much unobstructed panorama of not only Lake Washington, but also the Space Needle and downtown Seattle. Especially pretty ay night! The two car garage was a really useful feature, and we never had to worry about parking. The overall location is perfect, in a quiet neighborhood, but close to everything. We'll definitely be back!
