Enjoy Beautiful Sunsets from the Deck Overlooking Canyon Lake

Enjoy the beautiful surroundings of Canyon Lake, a natural base for day trips, not only to San Antonio and Austin, but also those towns known for specialty shopping such as Boerne, Wimberly, Fredricksburg, Blanco, Johnson City, and don't forget the huge outlet mall located in San Marcos. The clear, clean water is so refreshing and beautiful to see and enjoy. The Lake appears tropical on a sunny day as the sunshine reflects a beautiful blue-green sheen from the Lake.
Our home is a perfect spot to enjoy the spectacular view with many great vantage points to watch the boating and Lake activity! Additionally, since the water's edge is a short walk, you can still enjoy simple fun things such as skipping rocks across the Lake and putting a fishing line in the water to see what you might catch. The rocky beach and lake bottom makes swimming enjoyable. There is a quick drop to deep water right off shore. An early morning kayak or canoe trip across the Lake is also very soothing and relaxing. These are a few of the activities available just a short walk down to the Lake from the house. Of course, don't forget one of the most enjoyable activities while staying at our home--the beautiful deer that congregate at the front door morning, noon and evening in hopes of being fed. Some are little 'bambi's' while others have beautiful 'racks' on their handsome, proud heads (there were two 8-pointers at our front door recently). And, of course, there are the doe's that will eat corn from your hand. Watching the deer lounge around and interact as they feed is very pleasurable and relaxing. The patio located on the lower level is a great place to sit, watch the Lake and read a book. Later on, enjoy the hot-tub. A great vantage point to watch the beautiful sunset over Canyon Lake or later in the evening, the moon rise above you--or a star-lit night with a shooting star or two--or three!
You may also want to enjoy a campfire in the evening. There is plenty of room down by the Lake to light a fire in the fire pit and enjoy each other's company while roasting marshmallows and exchanging stories round the fire with the gentle sound of waves from the lake in the background! These are just a few of the amenities available to you during your stay.
If boating is one of the pleasures you hope to enjoy while a guest in our home, the boat launch is very convenient to the house, only one mile (walking distance!).
Numerous restaurants are within 15 minutes where 'Hill Country' cuisine can be enjoyed. Additionally, many evening attractions can be found in Gruene (including Gruene Hall), many offer nightly live performances, including Jerry Jeff Walker.
The house has ceiling fans in all rooms. The bedrooms are furnished with a king bed in one & a queen bed in the second bedroom. Two comfortable futons are in the living area with additional bedding available in the form of an air mattress.. Each bedroom has a full bath. A stackable washer/dryer is on site for your convenience. Ample linens & bedding are furnished. In addition to the items noted below, the fully-equipped kitchen has everything you need to prepare your own meals if you prefer to dine at 'home.' The dining area comfortably seats eight or ten cozily. Any overflow can enjoy sitting at the large picnic table (also seating for eight) under the ceiling fans on the adjoining covered porch. Or if the weather is cool in the evening, you might enjoy a cozy fire in the fireplace located in the living area.
Additionally, don't forget to enjoy all of the attractions of the 'Hill Country'--Natural Bridge Caverns, Wildlife Preserve, biking, hiking, or just drive through the hills and enjoy the beautiful views.

We arrived late afternoon to a yard full of almost-tame Canyon Lake deer and a sense of relief that here was a rental that actually exceeded expection! The house is right on the lake, it was beautifully-decorated, there was nothing lacking in the kitchen or anywhere else. The hot tub was looking right over the lake but still very private. The outdoor stereo speakers allowed us to listen to the tv/CD's while grilling out on the deck. And though there were houses on both sides, we felt very secluded due to the way the house sits on the lot. We had a great time feeding & photographing the deer; the owners provided a bin of corn for us to feed the deer. We only left to do some riding in the beautiful Texas Hill Country surrounding the home; the rest of the time we just enjoyed the lake and house. The nearby town offered a well-stocked grocery store, several restaurants, a liquor store - very much more available in the town than we expected. The owners were great to work with from start to finish. When we couldn't figure out how to turn up the temperature on the hot tub, we called and they not only gave us concise instructions but also had several great suggestions as to what to do in the area. We had a friend stay overnight who lives about 100 miles from this property. He was so impressed that he got the rental info from me so he can rent it in the future. We will definitely be back, and will tell anyone interested in a Texas Hill Country rental about this place. It was reasonable, private, well-stocked & beautiful - all the ingredients for a perfect vacation!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

We found this property online and it turned out to be a great location and very nice accommodations. We rented both properties and had plenty of room for all of the kids and adults. The new house was very nice and newly renovated, both houses had an awesome view of the lake. It was our first vacation to Canyon Lake and the water was beautiful. We brought boats and it was a little difficult to dock because the lake was low but we did enjoy fishing, skiing and boat riding the lake during our stay. A dock would have been helpful to get in and out of our boats but the lake may not allow them. I would recommend this rental to anyone wanting a really comfortable lake house on a beautiful lake in the hill country. One last thing....the deer were fun to watch and feed. The corn provided was a big hit and we all really enjoyed watching and feeding the deer. They have a pretty good gig and show up morning and evening knowing there will be corn to eat.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

Stay at this cozy lake house on gorgeous Canyon Lake if you truly want to relax. The two decks provided my husband and me ample places to sit and gaze at the water. We were greeted by gentle, hungry deer. The home had everything you needed and was very comfortable.Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

I have only one bad thing to say about my weekend stay...it was too short!! We thoughly enjoyed staying at your home on Canyon Lake. The beds were heavenly, the kitchen was spacious and nicely stocked. The view was breathtaking and the layout of the house as well as the decks allowed our bunch to spread out and relax. I have stayed at several homes in the area over the past few years and this home gets top ratings from us. I was not disappointed one bit from your photos and your description of the property. This is a home that would be great in any season. Again, thank you for helping make our weekend a successful one and also one that our family will remember with fond memories.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

The house was spotlessly clean. The view from the decks, and from inside the house, was amazing! The lake was right in our back yard. The owners made sure that we were comfortable in every way, and supplied everything anyone could possibly need. We would definately recommend this property to family and friends, and hope to come back next year. The owners own the house next door, too, so large groups can stay close together.Recommended for: Families with teenagers, families with young children, girls getaway.

7 of us stayed in the house the owner has next door to this one which was recently remodeled. The home was very clean, very equipped and very comfortable. We loved the deck with the beautiful view of the lake and my grandson especially enjoyed feeding the deer. We had access to a boat ramp nearby and plenty of good restaurants in the area. We also enjoyed the nice charcoal pit and fully furnished kitchen when we cooked ourselves. We give our stay an A+!Recommended for: Sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Thank you Shirley and Paul for allowing us to rent such wonderful accomodations! Our two families enjoyed the wonderful view, lake access and most of all feeding the deer! The kids had several deer eating out of their hands and by the end of the trip were convinced the deer wanted to come home with us! Your home is convenient to Greune where we shopped and had lunch at Gristmill, New Braunfels where we went to Schiltterbaun for the day and Crane Marina where we received 25% off a 4 hour boat rental during the middle of the week. HEB was close by to rent movies from Red box and to pick up a few supplies. We couldn't get over how clean and well stocked your home was, we hope to come back soon! My only suggestion would be to have a bunkbed in one of your spacious rooms. Thanks again for allowing us to visit your little piece of heaven!Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, girls getaway.

We stayed here for Memorial Weekend, and we truly enjoyed our time at this house. We really enjoyed the outdoor living area. The covered porch has outdoor speakers that are connected to the stereo inside the house, so it was nice being able to listen to music while enjoying the hot tub or the deck. We also read all the previous reviews describing the deer at the house, and let me tell you it was awesome. The deer literally eat from your hand, and if you feed one you have to feed all 9!!!! This house is in a great location as we had went to Gruene and it took no time to get there. We can’t wait to rent this house again! Thank you for letting us stay at your house!!Recommended for: Families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children.

I've stayed with several HomeAway properties and this one has been by far the best! The house is a perfect size and is outfitted with literally everything you need. There were plenty of extra pillows and linens, lots of towels in each bathroom, everything you could ever need int he kitchen, etc. It had absolutely everything we need which really made it feel like a home away from home. The patio and the deck are both perfect for morning coffee or dinner while looking out over the sunset. The hottub was especially relaxing given that there was a full moon the weekend we stayed. The path down to the lake is pretty and the water was perfect. We rented a jet ski from the marina across the cove and it was a blast. Very reasonable too, and the jet ski was literally brand new! (Cranes Mill Marina) Finally, we grilled out both nights on the provided grill and really enjoyed feeding the deer corn throughout our stay. If you're looking for a beautiful home with great amenities for a relaxing weekend (or week) at the lake, this place is the only place you should consider!Did you find this review helpful? Why the Owner Chose Canyon Lake:
We love the Hill Country and environment. There are so many activities in the area--we are half way between San Antonio and Austin. With such convenience, we have best of all worlds--water and related activities, beautiful scenery, rural living but close proximity to major metropolitan areas.
