Why the Owner Chose Chimney Rock
We had already looked at 13 properties the day we saw this one. The instant we walked through the front door and onto the back deck we knew it was the right one for us! All you could hear was the sound of the waterfall. We made an offer that day!
The Unique Benefits at this House
We love to sit on our lower deck in the morning and drink coffee. There's nothing more peaceful. Our wildflower garden in the summer is amazing. We have hummingbirds and more butterflies than you can imagine. Lake Lure is close by and it's a great place to take kids to swim, or to rent a boat for a spin around the lake. Best of all, Asheville is only 20 miles away!

My husband and I love the North Carolina mountains! That's why we chose the Asheville area for our vacation home. We live in Asheville right downtown, but sneak out to our home whenever we can. There's such a variety of things to do here. We love to share our home with our family and with our guests, and work hard to make sure our home is the best value in the area.

LOVED the place. Very clean, nice decor. The grounds were outstanding. Felt like we were the only people there. I have three boys and we had a little fire in the fire pit and roasted marshmellows. My husband and oldest son (9 at the time) hiked to the waterfall and really had a good time. We've stayed twice and will come back again!! Came back to write a review because I'm recommending the place to a coworker and felt bad about not saying what a great time we had!
Owner response:Thanks for stopping back by Jennifer! And for recommending us to your friend.
Recommended for:Sightseeing, girls getaway, families with teenagers, families with young children.

We spent a long weekend in this home for our annual family Christmas retreat (mom, dad, 2 daughters, 2 husbands, and 2 kids). The place was perfect for our needs! The large open family areas, kitchen, 2 tv's, bedroom layout and more fit our family. The hike to the falls and even farther up Mountain Cove Road were all lovely. We were greeted on departure day with 3-4 inches of heavy wet snow and fear set in as 2 of our vehicles were not 4 wheel drive and could not make it up the driveway. We thought we were stuck! We called the Garretts and they arranged for a friend to come up the mountain and scrape the drive so we could get out. Now that's service!!
Owner response:Thanks for the kind comments! We were glad we could help you (although it's not a bad place to be snowbound)! Hope you'll come back to see us...

Thank you so much for probably one of the best family vacations i have ever had! The home was perfect in amenities and space. Even the detail and effort put into your very impressive gardens made for one of the most impressive natural butterfly habitats i've seen. As they said on the video, the 2nd deck overlooking the mountain valley is truly a treasure. This is not a cabin in the mountains, it is a home in the mountains. I highly recommend this area over the more "touristy" spots. We've rented cabins in the Gatlinburg area to the very remote Western NC locations. This seemed to be just the right mix. Chimney Rock park and the village are very close. And Asheville is great for fine dining and shopping if you want to go that route. Just a heads up and this is by no means a bad thing, but plan for power outtages. It happens in that area and it is a part of life. There were more than enough oil lamps and flashlights in the home to accommodate. Take it as a sign from God to turn off the TV and Internet and gather around the large coffee table upstairs and play games and laugh till wee hours of the night. We did, and it was perhaps our best time in the cabin. The only thing i would do differently is probably pack some extra ice to put in the freezer for such an event. The power usually is restored promptly, but know you are in the mountains. Thanks again, and we hope to visit again soon!
Owner response:Thanks Matt...it IS a sign from God to unplug and enjoy. Think you guys had more issues with power than normal. Honestly, it doesn't happen all that often!

Our first VRBO stay was a WINNER! Bat Cave is a long way from Oklahoma, but our family vacation with our grown children was one of our best! We stayed busy visiting Chimney Rock, Asheville, Hendersonville, and the beautiful hiking right there at the property. The pictures of your home were "right on". The accommodations were everything we imagined! We so hope to visit again, and spend more time enjoying the grounds and Tom's Falls right there on the trails of the property.
Owner response:Ron and Debbie, Thanks so much for your kind comments! We certainly hope you'll be back soon! Anna and Dan

Thank you so much for a wonderful anniversary getaway! We had such a great time. Your home and the view are faulous! Everything we would have needed was right here. Grilling out, we enjoyed the deck with the rocking chairs and the upper deck was perfect for laying out in the sun! Hope your summer continues to be fun. Thank you for opening your home to us. We are going back to Camden stress free!!

We are very hesitantly leaving this wonderful place. Upon arrival, we instantly fell in love with your place here. This is the perfect spot for relaxation, destressing, and for really appreciating nature. We come to this area quite often and stay in rental houses such as yours. Each time, we compare places. Yours here is by far our favorite--the house, the location, the view, etc. We do hope to be able to return here one day. Thank you for allowing us to have a wonderful Thanksgiving here at your place. p.s. On Thanksgiving morning, we had a visit from the "Gobble" clan--I mean the WHOLE clan...about 35 turkeys came for a visit. We gathered that they were coming to see if we had their brother and cousin, Tom. I think they were satisfied that we didn't have him so they slowly wandered away. The next day, Friday, we were visited by a family of deer--5 deer came up in the yard. Perhaps the Gobble family sent them just to make sure we didn't have Tom. It was such an enjoyment for us to see these animals wandering around

I had no idea what was in store for my birthday weekend getaway, for my husband planned it all. It's Sunday now and time to go home--it's been the best birthday I can remember! Friends, beautiful environment, great weather (even the thunderstorm overnight was memorable when we'd slept on sleeping bags on the deck :-), and the accommodations were (are) perfect! Thank you so much for sharing your home--I'm looking forward to our return.
